  1. Just be aware that if you are refused cover you must disclose this to any other insurance company you talk to if they ask. Alot of young people get their parents to own/insure their cars for them. Some insurance companies will refuse to pay out if they find out, others turn a blind eye, and some even openly embrace the idea. My parents owned my first BMW and insured it with the insurance companies agreement. When I got older I took it over and was able to retain my no claims bonus as I had history with the company, and I am still a customer 8 years on with other vehicles, property and contents insurance totalling over $2k a year in premiums, so I guess from a marketing perspective their punt paid off. Oh, I should add that all my cars have been modified to some extent with all modifications disclosed to the insurance company.
  2. Can recommend Shelley - she does great work.
  3. Simon's is good if you want something really easy to use. I used to use faststone photo resizer because you can rename the files at the same time, but you can batch rename with windows too, so no need for external app anymore unless you want to change the file type, or add a watermark or simialr too.

Tidy car. Not digging tech II rear on pre f/l, but paint looks immaculate!

    Nice one brova!
  7. Mike-e36 - agree for the most part, but I suspect consumers expectations will change a wee bit, and the disadvantages of alternative power (whether it be electric or something else) will be outweighed by perceived benefits. It's not as though combustion engines are without faults. Cheaper servicing, better power delivery, less maintenance, longer serrvice intervals, and not needing to stop for gas are all possible benefits of alternative fuels which may make sharter maximum range and other disadvantages bearable. I bet when the internal combustion-powered carriage came along, horse owners moaned about having to refuel etc too.
  8. Lol - that was Toni's. But I did use it alot. It's Dad's - can't have anyone acusing me of posting parent's vehicles. We currently have a few classics hiding away in sheds (1942 Willy's, Series 1 Landrover, 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, 1985 e30 323i Baur Cabby, Nissan Cherry in bright orange) but they're not mine.

Better in terms of number of members, projects, traffic, and good members. Worse in terms of spam, idiots, stupid threads. Victim of its own success :-)
  10. These threads are usually boring, but I'm digging the pics idea. Don't have pics of them all, so some of these are from google: White 1979 MkII Ford Escort van exactly the same as Nathan's (learnt to drive in it). Number plate KE101 since been written off by someone else. Stole your pic Nathan. "Morning Mist" (aka metallic poo-brown) 1981 Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback with the economy select drive. Sold it for more than I paid for it. 1979 Vauxhall Chevette Sedan, also in poo-brown. 1991 Honda Civic Sedan White 1987 Holden Commodore VK 3.3L injected in-line 6cyl Suzuki GT 250 - by the time I sold it, it had developed a nasty piston slap and the exhaust baffles kept coking up. Otherwise, not a terrible bike for an old city cruiser. 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer GLXI 1995 Nissan Navara single cab ute 1989 BMW e30 320i (pics to come) 1990 Supercharged BMW e30 325i 1991 Toyota SW20 MR2 Daihatsu Rugger 2010 Mazda BT50 (company car, but it gets more use than my other 3 vehicles)

Nice hoops. I'm surprised they made you fit some as Josh points out. What I did was put the bolts in from the top, and tack-welded them to the floor pan so I can remove the hoops without taking the carpet out to put a spanner on them.

    1988 E30 Touring

Re: the touring tech-II debate. There's also a touring rear roof spoiler for tech II. I don't know whether they made any m325i tourings, but you could spec the touring with a tech II kit from factory. So the answer to the original question would be yes. Oh, and Jase - pics up there from October looking sweet! If I happen to be in the market for another car when you come to sell it, I'd be very interested in talking. A wee bit too low in the back for me, but that's easily fixed. Keep it up!
  13. It is SMG. They made a auto too (much more common), but the auto has the shift selections (P, R, N, D, +, -) marked at the top right of the gaitor beside the shifter (and is obviously an auto just to look at), whereas the smg looks like this with the shift pattern below the shifter.

Gidday Dave you useless cock. Where ya been?
  15. Depending on offset you can fit 8's on an e30 no prob. 9's often need a bit of work to fit, and 10's definitely need guard mods, etc. I wouldn't go wider than 8's on the front and 9's on the back. 7's on the front, and 8's on the back, or 8's all round, with the right offset (fairly negative) and tyre selection (narrow end of recommended tyre size) looks great, is legal, doesn't create as great handling compromises as wider wheels and over-stretched tyres, and shouldn't give fitment issues.
  16. I usually get around to adjusting virtual memory settings, and usually put the page file on it's own partition to minimise fragging. I'm buying a new notebook this week. Will see what it is set to from the shop.

    BMW 1M revealed

^^^You've missed the point. I've always though of the 1 as the new e30 so interesting to see others think the same. Chinese more of a threat I'd say.
  18. Sounds as though you are on the right track. Good luck.
  19. The bank should still have offered him a few bucks considering if he went no deal and ended up with the 50c case he'd still be better off than 10c. Still would suck to be him - that's rotten luck. Anyone know how he did in the end?
  20. Alot of people starting new businesses get wrapped up in the romanticism of a cool name and logo and a flashy website, but don't base the business model on a good foundation. The right name and branding backed up with effective marketing is important, but if your business model is weak, it's all for nothing. You say you've been researching this for two months now? Have you done any market research? What is the demand for your product? What mark-up can you get. What are your overheads, operating costs, and profit margins, etc. If you put the hard (boring) work in at the bottom, you could do well calling yourself just about anything you like. The name won't make your business a success without sound foundations. My partner is currently looking at the option starting her own business. She has a great idea. I've been spending some time with her recently getting her to write a business plan and do some market research. I think her idea is awesome, but I'm unsure of whether her target market is big enough (it's a service-based business and we live in a rural area = limited population = limited market). She's as enthusiastic as you and has a name sussed and lots of ideas and I've been trying to channel that enthusiasm towards putting in the right groundwork first. I encourage you to do the same.
  21. Nice - have been planning the switch mod for awhile. Lots of info on the net about using the white ones not gree. Another tip for those wanting to do this, you can't use some e36 switches as they are mounted on a curved surface, and the switch mounting frame is curved to match and will look funny on the flat e30 console. You need the switches that josh has used with the flat backs.
  22. Adding my support to Glenn's comments. Good write-up.

HB Mike, shouldn't have done that....
  24. I've toyed with a friends one. Was fine for what we were using it for (road trip), but otherwise it sucked. Was a jap import. Everytime you got in or out it would talk to you in japanese - horrible japanese womens voice. Instruction manual is japanese and japanese characters on the TV, so no idea what the hell she is saying, or how to shut her up. Initial amusement turns to plain annoyance after a couple of days. Probably warning us that the car is on its last legs and about to fall apart. There was a nasty vibration in the steering under heavy braking - ABS fault I think. Seen one modified one drive past - looked pretty sweet I have to say.
