What, for causing a potentially fatal accident? Stupid.

I was the most recent PO. I bought the car with a stuffed auto and replaced it It was in perfect order, and I changed fluid etc at the same time. The previous owner had looked after the car fairly well until the auto gave up on him. I spent a fair bit of time and $ tidying the car up before Ryan bought it as it had sat for a little while and needed a good service and rubbers replaced and some minor electrical issues fixed. Otherwise mechanically it was great, and had the quietest tappets of any e30 I've ever come across. To his credit Ryan has done alot of good work to make the finish and interior match the mechanical standard. I'd be happy to answer any questions, but I'm sure the car speaks for itself. Good luck with the sale Ryan!

Cool vid. Theres an e28 and an e34 in there too. Bonus points!

Hah I agree. In Northland they would be better off with a "The road is clear of Roadworks for the next 6km..." warning as it is such a shock when it happens.

Link WTF?! Firstly, what the hell are people "attacking" aircraft with lasers for in the first place, and secondly another brilliant peice of journalism from the Herald - story tells you nothing.

Hey man, I was up in Ahipara on Friday and there is an e34 for sale on Ahipara road with some 17" deep dish rims that look like Borbet Type A's, with charcoal centres. Stopped and had a look. they are 17's but not borbets - had cliff something or other designs written on them. Anyway, If something sort of 80's style with big dish is your thing, then get in touch as I have the owners contact details.

All these Petrol Companies yet no Competition between them
bravo replied to Driftit's topic in General Discussion
Tax is a percentage of the pre-tax retail price, so if the price goes up 5c a litre part of that 5c is extra tax (both duty AND GST). driftit - Antallica is correct. The pump price in Whangarei is higher than Auckland by a couple fo cents. In the far north expect to pay between 5 and 10c a litre more than Auckland. Main centres (kerikeri, paihia) 91 is currently $2.09 and 95 is $2.14 (we don't get 98 up here at all). In the districts it's $2.11 for 91 and $2.16 for 95. The other day I was working in houhora and noticed that 91 was $2.21! I've got a company car so it doesn't worry me quite so much, but my g/f has started to car pool with a friend as she drives 350km a week to and from work. Once we have finished renovating my house, we are going to rent it out and move close to her work so that her gas bill shrinks. -
Ouch - exactly the same reason why I had to buy another car the other week. Somoeone needs to teach these women not to have accidents! Buy Glenns 316i. It goes really well, and is a total minter. I drove it and would have bought it had the MR2 not been such a steal. Only problem is its 2-door.

I like the idea. It is good to see designers thinking outside the box. For all the crap directed at Bangle, more and more and more people (this forum included) have started saying things like "that's hot" etc to mildly modified Bangle designs. Obviously production cars like this are a long way off, but I wouldn't be surprised to see aspects of this philosophy filter through in some of the next models. I see a few possibly problems if we assume that the car comes through the design process relatively in tact - cleaning and caring for the "skin". Accident repairs etc could all make it impractical to make its way to production. Very cool idea.

Nice car. You have the same wheels as on my e30 except mine are alloy finish, not chrome. Welcome to the forum. I have an uncle in Austin. I've been promising to visit him for ages, but yet to do so. Good to see an e30 stateside without the diving boards!

The "tappet noise" in my e30 has been slowly getting louder, so I decided its time to adjust, but before I got stuck in I had a listen to the injectors with a srewdriver and sure enough they are the culprit. Are they worth taking out for a clean, or should I throw some new ones at it? If new, what are my options for replacement keeping in mind that in the future the engine will be receiving around 8psi of boost. Cheers.

Well you know what REPCO stands for? Go to anywhere else that sells individual sockets - BNT, AutoOne, or any tool specialist. Expect to pay $20 plus though unless you're able to get a cheaper brand like powerbuilt.

Just for contrast, we have had about 5 or 6 days of sun up here in the bay with 18 degree days (but very cold nights for us due to no cloud cover - we even got down to 2 degrees!!!!!) lol.

318i manual by a country MILE. The 318's go pretty well as manuals and have better weight distribution. I would only go the 325 auto if I wanted just a long distance cruiser (then why an e30?) or I was going to do a manual conversion.

yup. Idiot came at her on the wrong side of the road. It was either hit him or take her chances with the ditch. She chose the ditch and ended up head-on into a tree. Factory they came with 113kw (154hp) so that's 10% less than m20b25. The big difference is torque. 186Nm vs 222Nm for the m20. The mr2 weighs about 1145kg (factory spec) vs 1300kg for the e30, but then add another 40kg for sound install and tools in the e30. The mr2 is more nimble. In a straight line or up hills the e30 pulls much harder, but in the twisty's the mr2 is pretty equal. The fact that it beat the e30 home was a factor of the driver, not the car.

Yeah I was wondering that. I think it may have had a respray at some time ?? i know the clear coat goes on these, so considering the condition of the paint, that is more than likely. Has no evidence of crash repairs.

Was looking for a new car for the g/f to daily as her e30 got an unplanned facelift. Looked at about 10 vehicles including 4 e30's. Finally narrowed it down to either Glenn's (botanymotorworx) 316 or an mr2. I've always wanted an sw20, it was priced well, so we went for it even though Glenns e30 would have been a good buy aswell. So I thought I'd post some pics. Its a '90 NA (2L DOHC 4-pot 3sge) with 170kms, and is in mint condition. Flew through a Toyota Extended Warranty check with the exception of play in a tie-rod end which was negotiated off the price. Good compression in all cylinders. Thats one hell of alot of mid-engined sportscar for under $3500 IMO. It has slightly less power in NA form than the 325i, and noticeably less torque, but that said it can easily keep up and is a much nicer ride with better handling, a good driving position and the added plus of a wind-in-your-hair t-top. Went and picked it up from Whangarei heads in the e30. (Awesome twisty road to have a play). The view over the engine cover and through the rear spoiler at the mtech-II slowly getting smaller behind me as the g/f struggled to keep up was awesome. Pics are just the ones the vendor had on TM. I probably won't bother taking anymore to post here being a BMW forum, but I just felt like putting them up here for comments.

the e30 motorsports have LSD and suspension upgrades as well as the cosmetic differences. I think the price simply reflects the fact that there are not many good ones left, and if you are going to have an e30 for your collection, then that's the one you want (assuming an m3 is out due to price). I personally think e30's look sweet with the right mods. They have more character than any of the newer models. They handle well with minor suspension changes and go well too for the money you spend and the age of the vehicle. As others have said they are easy to fix DIY. But the main reason they are so prevalent is that they are the most affordable. Look at the average BS member - your average e60 owner isn't here (yes I know we have at least 1). Most people on this forum are broke. Whether thats WHY they have an e30 or BECAUSE they have an e30 depends on the length of time they have owned one.

No, the newer cars often had in-tank pumps. Some cars had a transfer pump aswell. You might find there are some common pumps, but as you've found out, they often differ. If the pump is of the same type, you can mix and match.
