    Em's New E30

Werd to the motherf**ker! Thats badass Em. Well done - what a good buy! My 320 was sunroof-less too. I miss the mintness of that car - don't let it go too easily. As much fun as my new car is, the 320 was a better automobile.
  2. Sweet - interested to see how forum integration goes as i like the way the forum is kind of standalone right now.
  3. Poor Damian - now he's back to being the only regular member without a bmw.
  4. Highlights included blo karting, impromptu naked girls dancing on the table, and dirty old 318iS turbo blatting. Otherwise just the usual.

    linerider 2

there are linerider forums with how-tos for loops etc, ad there are lots of hacked linerider versions out there with more tools available. I had a snoop aroud when the first versio was posted up here. Havn't played it since, but there's plenty of info out there.
  6. Conrod - thats why a roundabout works well on equal-trafficked roads. Or where the main traffic is doing a left turn or right tun, not going tright thru. ButI can see this argument is goig nowhere lol.

    e30 89 320i (not)

Sweet bro. Don't go open diff. It's infuriating enough m20b25. If you do want to go open i'll take your LSD lol. Pity you couldn't finish before xmas, but I expet a visit next year for that wee boat trip we discussed.
  8. I think the Jury is still out. Every person I speak to has another opinion on the roundabout idea. No-one actually knows, just assume their limited experience means the know all. I'm in the same boat - I just assume they work 'cos I was told. Don't actually know. Anyone done a study?
  9. Nah the fine would be OK - its the prison time for fraud I'd be worried about. think I'm joking????
  10. See I knew I'd get that reaction from you precious Ak'ers. I Know its a lifestyle choice, etc, was just diggin you in the ribs - got no sense of humour down there huh? Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if you lot didn't build your city on an isthmus just so we HAVE to pass through on our way up and down the country. Palazzo - you're dead right, again poking you in the ribs mate. Have you been to Northland lately? Single lane metal roads would almost be a step up from the bumpy, potholed sh*t seal we've got. Anyone driving the Brynderwyns in the past few weeks will know what I mean. The problem with building roads is, they create traffic issues, not fix them. The cities around the world that seem to have bugger all traffic problems are the ones that build a few well-designed roads, then provide good public transport. Why would i take a bus/rail when its cheaper and faster to drive my car on the brand new highway???? As to traffic lights?? Why havn't the powers-that-be followed the Aussies with their roundabouts. Everyone knows they work, but instead of building new ones, they keep tearing them down. (Like Redoubt Rd/Everglade intersection in Manukau)

    Festive Measures

I'm guessing headlights - but I was inferring red and blues. How good would that be? Although having their headlights on will actually make it harder to tell if they are a cop or not. Won' make them more noticeable - I doubt anyone drives past a cop without realising it was there. The headlight ploy is prolly just to make it harder to see the markings from a distance.

NZ Herald Article Great - now I'll be able to see the buggers in time enough to slow down. Who thought of that particular bit of genius???
  13. Sure - what are you getting me? I could think of a few good ideas...

    Tyre choice

Yeah 0 just subsribed to Classic Car for my old-fullas xmas prezzie - went into the draw for a set of them, so I'll get those when I win.
  15. pic of the dash carpet installed? $15?
  16. Part of the problem is no-one follows the system as Andrew says. (3 cars thru at a time). Wait till they put the red-light camera on that ramp as promised. $150 a pop, 2 cars breaking the law each sequence, 5-10secs per sequence, 3 hours of rush "hour", two rush "hours" a day, $324,000 in revenue per day. Wicked - finally you lot will be paying for your own roads. The other problem is that the lights are new and will take some fine tuning to get to work right. Lastly, if you can see the rear of the on ramp queue waiting to merge from where you are sitting at the lights (as was inferred by Andrew), then the only difference to the Wellington St queue is the distance from the lights to the rear of that queue, but if motorway traffic can be sped up by the drip-feed method - individual cars may not gain, but overall, the rush "hour" gets shorter, so less people are affected. In other words, it may not speed up your trip to work, but it will be jammed for less, so some people who used to experience a jam will now experience none even though some users will notice no difference. Its partly poor design, and partly user error - NZ'ers don't know how to queue. How many times do you see four queues at four counters of a hot-dog stand or train station etc. People judging which queue is moving fastest and jockeying for position. If one queue was formed and the first person in the queue goes to the next available counter as in a Bank queue, then first-in first served, and everyone gets an equal wait. But bloody kiwis so impatient we are unable to do that. Not that I care. I have 30km journey to work. takes me 30 mins with road works, and 20mins normally. I work 60 metres from the beach, sushi bar, cafes, gelato, post office, bank, bar, pub, and town green all within 100m. And free parking 100m from my office. Plus get paid the same as I was in Auckland. Most people don't lock their house, don't lock their car at home, pay less on insurance and can't hear or see their neighbours (but the neighbours are friendly anyway so even that wouldn't matter). Why live in Auckland?

    Tyre choice

Thanks all. I'm no closer to a decision, but have a few more ideas. Cheers.
  18. Whilst we're on this topic - there is an amendment being proposed to the frontal impact laws that will impact on importers of "classic cars". Read about it here: http://www.landtransport.govt.nz/media/2006/061214.html If we can get e30 m3, e34 m5, and older 6-series cars on the list as unique - collectable vehicles, then we would be able to import them less than 20 yrs old. Maybe the BMW club could look into making a submission???
  19. Factsheet about LHD - you may be right about that. http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/12.html I thought the LHD rules regarding overseas ownership for 90 days etc applied to all imports not just 20yrs or newer. RHD m3??? as you say few and far between - did they even make any?? I think all the RHD ones are conversions. When I said $30k I meant for a RHD. LHD ones sell on TM for sub $15k but you can't drive them on the roads. I was adding a premium for finding a much rarer RHD. But if you can import LHD ones and register them, then sweet - I would even look into that.
  20. Well, its an m3 Jaz so its worth more than $1 or 2k. It's an 86 which means that it can be registered in nz under the classic car exemption for frontal impact standards which a tidy example in nz would be worth around $45k-60k depending on how tidy. Landed and on the road, you'd want it to have cost you $30k or less I'd say to make it worth the stress and chance you get a dog. Oh, and it'll have to be RHD or else you can't do it.
  21. Not much interest so price must be too high. I honestly have no idea what these are worth. Make an offer.
