  1. The 240 and 260 for 6-cyls have diff length prop-shafts, so you may think you have it sorted buying a manual prop-shaft, but you don't if it's not the right one for the box you have. Also, the shift console (sheet metal one at least) is a different length for each box. I put a 240 on my old 320, and bought another 240 for my 325. I found a 260 for the 325 in the end and on-sold the 240 to a bs member. Side by side the 240 is slightly shorter and ever so slightly thinner around the gut, otherwise they look much the same, use the same clutch, slave, etc.
  2. My sisters b/f has built an off-road kart. It's basically the front end from a mitsubishi lancer 1600 non-turbo welded on to the rear of a home-made frame/chassis. The engine and box is behind you. Rear wheel drive, front wheel steer, 5spd manual. Been trying to organise it for the meet, but it needs some work to make it a runner again and he's in Surfers' for 10 days so have to wait till he's back to see if its an easy fix or not. That gixxer kart is nuts.
  3. Everytime a 6-cyl 240 comes up we go through this! 240's for 6-cyl are common as f**k. I've had three of them for a start.

I did that degree. Good luck. Mate of mine going down for his first year of BSurv too - Evan Francis. He used to own an e30 but went over to the dark side and bought jappa.
  5. 'box appears to be a 240 for 6cyl. cars (320i/325i) Auction Link Not mine BTW.
  6. what di your cert cost all up in the end?
  7. Doubt it. You don't have any so it doesn't matter. Now get back to work and stop using taxpayers money for bimmersport time! Or I'll have to punish you when I get home
  8. Good point Chris - if it wasn't a poor old fart I'd have to stick with putting the pressure on them though.

    Germanplates team

Looks good will. I've been away all week on the boat (BMW boat pics to come) and will be away most of this week aswell as back on the boat over the weekend. I will endeavor to stop by some time after work to see how your projects are coming along and finalise some meet details.
  11. I'm doing it on both my e30's soon. Will let you know if I cock it up.
  12. I'd hit one on the rear window sans online blah. I've always liked those stripes - like on that pic you posted up once Sam on the silver car? Sorry I missed you on the weekend Andrew, I'll tell you all about it next time I see you - it's a fuken good story - will need a few beers to tell it tho.
  13. I've considered this also. kt100 good idea. Let me know how you get on as I'm still toying with the idea of getting one, plan to run it on back roads too
  14. It is not your insurance co. His insurance co has no leg to stand on to tell you what's what. Deal with the guy. Tell him his insurance co is not playing ball. Show him your quotes and say you will be taking him to court for that amount and its up to him to argue with his insurer - not you. Some bloke trashed my sisters car by running into the back of it. His insurance co valued it at $2000 below actual value, then said they were writing it off and taking the car. We refused. told the guy that if he didn't sort out his insurance co then we were going after him. Sent an independent valuation and repair quote through and eventually the insurance co paid out our value and we kept the car. The only argument we had left was that the insurance co wrote to the LTSA and said in their opinion the car was a write off and it was to be removed from the road. LTSA wrote to us to demand the plates. Once again, we refused and said we were fixing the car. LTSA disappeared and we have since paid the next lot of rego so problem seems to have disappeared. Some insurance co's are f**kwits. Its not your fault - you don't have to do anything you don't want. You are to be left in the same position your were before the accident. If you're a cheeky bugger, go for hire car costs aswell, but that's pushing things in most circumstances.
  15. Have you seen what the guy was offering though? I'd say much the same, except I'd probably be more subtle. Fukn cheeky offering an auto mazda 323 for an e36 318 IMO.
  16. I have to bail. Was going down for the nats too, but something urgent has come up and had to pull the plug.
  17. She's lucky she didn't end up upside down under her buggy. Gotta wonder how she didn't see the barrier.
  18. I guess if you were really worried you could fit it and take it in to a shop and have the hinges welded once it's on the car. I think Gary got one of these - he's modded it to make it stronger and reckoned it was a pretty sweet base to start with and would suit most people how it is. I'm not interested as the mounting plates are not shaped to match the e30 strut tops (ie the brace has flat mounting flanges but the e30 strut top is not flat) and so you either need to have longer strut top bolts or risk less thread holding it all on. Most people would say that's not a problem, but I personally don't want to risk it. Took a bit of work to get it right from what I hear. Good to see people doing things like this.
  19. Not really sam. There are plenty of euros other than bimmers and they lack a good forum. Forums like luxury rollers lack the credibility IMO to get off the ground properly and will always be something of a boy-racer style "car club" forum. I reckon if eurosport slimmed down and simplified so that the posts were more concentrated in fewer topics, then it would look busier. Give it a year or 3 to gain critical mass, and then the owners of both sites could talk about a joint venture. Think synergy. Combined meets as well as individual ones, friendly rivalry, shared sponsors and advertisers. Rivalling motorsport entrants or just differing classes. Then buy a magazine or create a new one - its time NZ had a proper performance-euro magazine like Performance BMW. Eventually somewhere like Bavarian could be purchased (start greasing them up Pam) and the brand would get alot of business through its motorsport reputation (providing of course it manages to get one). think big.
  20. Gary - get the towing eye. Andy, I may be keen on the rear bumper trim. I'll let you know.
  21. Damn cool. Nice single finger salute.
