I know I started that line of comments, but you are dead right. Ironically my comment was trying to make the same point to you. The owner of the "Mercedes Bnez 320i Motorsport" probably loves their car also. Try to take the comments light-hearted. You are a member of a community that as a rule, don't appreciate things like chromes on bimmers. With that in mind, you are bound to cop some flak now and again, but in my view none of it is particularly malicious. You should do what you want and be proud of your car. Since however, you see it differently, and more of a personal attack, I'm sure members will be a little less critical of your wheels in the future. Especially since you asked so nicely.

How KERS works Surprisinly simple, but 5kg??? e30 flywheel weighs that much on its own and I cant see it bein able to be utilised to provide power to an F1 car. There must be some fairly clever engineering behind it, and maybe a little more to it than they've let on.

Interesting musings on the rule chages

I know you don't think much of e30 m3 prices, but remember they were produced in very limited numbers (even less made it to nz), they were pretty much race cars modified for the road, not the other way around, they are usually looked after very well, and they go like cut cats. Very much a quasi-super car/touring car in its time rivalling the best from Porsche and abslutely whipping mercedes and the like. When I first got into the BMW scene early this decade, a good m3 in top condition was approaching the $50k mark. They did a slight drop with the influx of japanese ones brought in by the likes of TWR at the sort of prices you mention, but these prices were for, at the time, unregisterable examples as they didn't comply with frontal impact regulations, and were not yet old enough to be exempted under the 20 year rule. The TWR cars could, for all intents and purposes, only be used as collectors cars to be garaged and trailered to shows, or as classic race cars. The former use was unlikely considering the general low-grade of the cars being imported. These cars can still not be registered today without first being exported and then reimported, and then if they are LHD, they need to be owned overseas for a period first to get around the LHD import rule, and if they have been converted to RHD they need to go through a fairly rigorous certification process, the costs of which will put the price of the car at least back up to the NZ equivalent. Finally we come to the economic rules governing the exchange of any property - the value is whatever a willing buyer is prepared to pay a willing seller, and even with the current recession, there are willing buyers prepared to pay the prices being asked. Case closed.

To the OP: Hope your tradme problem is soon sorted. To others: If you have a problem with a moderators behaviour or the way in which they moderate, the correct channel is to contact them personally by PM, or contact another mod, not to post in someones thread. bom-chikka-wow-wow!!!!

Yeah, but it needs a full respray, and some cosmetic work - not hard to push it up to the same price as all the others which appear to have been better looked after. oh, Plus freight - theres a few grand. It seems there's no such thing as a cheap e30 m3.
-
That's a good price. I had a look months ago and din't find what I was after, but I also think my budget may have subconciously increased since then??? I'll go take a look - cheers Pooch. Edit: the 10GBP ones are for m3, 15GBP plus for the others and can't find oth products at good prices from one seller. By the time I've sorted it its going to be close to $130 dlivered plus the extra risk and fluffing about. Not to mention ebay is way hard to navigate! I'll keep looking, but starting to feel like hard work.

bump euro lights can only do crystal fronts and they are willing to do a deal if I buy front and sides, but if I just buy sides they are priced too high IMO. Anyone want to make some cash by selling theirs?
-
Been a bit of that going on. Really good price! A year or so ago when Pam and Gus went to the UK, I think she was asking around $12k for hers and we all thought it was priced well. I think you got a manual for around the price of an auto.

More than the price difference to buy one in nz.

AA Member? Then you should have seen this.
-
Yep, they guy bought it and immediately put it back on the market for almost double the price.
-
Some people would say that about people who put chromes on their bimmers

Yeah - south auckland - the home to all the missing merc and BMW badges the world over. In fact, I say, if someone steals your badge you have a god-given right to rip one back off any honda, toyota or whatever that has one on it. There's a mazda b2000 ute up here that rocks an e30 kidney grill!

Wonder how much influence A1GP had on the boost idea? The rear wings look gay - the rest is better - tidies the styling up heaps - all the aerodynamic aids drag the look down. I know its not about the look but I like a good looking car to watch going around a track.

Not personally. But yeah, he's from Takou Bay. Know of him, and knew he was going to be on letterman. Will watch the clip in a minute, but the word on the street is he's got a deal for a tv show.

There was a docco not so long ago about a serial firestarter in NSW or somewhere. The guy was a total nut case sicko. Was a fireman. Lit the fires, called them in, then helped put them out. Killed a few people along the way and went to jail, but the docco implicated that he was out lighting them again after he had been released as he had suspiciously been in the area of some new fires with no good explanation of why.

Wow that's tidy - almost looks factory! Pity about the colour of the vehicle!

I got one of the ones from Repco - the pricier ones that are yellow, and very soft perforated material. These have to be one of the best - if your car is clean (ie no dirt to scratch the paint) it will not mark your car, it is water resistant (Rain will sheet off, but some moisture does make its way in, but it's breathable so drys fast. Some of the more "Water proof" ones trap condensation underneath so the car is ALWAYS damp. The breathable ones dont stop 100% of the water, but keep most of it out, prevent water spots, and the car will dry out fast when the rain stops. Although I discovered the neighbours cat likes to use it as a scratching post. A few squirts of the hose and leaving the dog off the leash have stopped this, but not before the car cover and car sustained some minor damage.

I have heard good things about both TomTom and Navman. Even the Navman reps agree TomTom is very good. I have personally used Navman Marine GPS on boats as well as many other marine GPS units. Navman would be my choice for useability and clarity of maps for recreational use at least in the marine environment. (Obviously some commercial boats have requirements the recreational units don't deliver). Sorry, no experience with in-car units, sorry.
