Damn. Thought I was being smart.

Surrounds are a fairly common problem. Either but secondhand ones, or sand and paint your old ones. You should remove them from the car first to do a proper job and save you masking out, and you can do the rubbers at the same time. You can buy secondhand rubbers, but they may not fit well. New ones are possibly expensive but you may be surprised - check the dealer. PS - removing the surrounds is fairly tricky - just be patient and try not to bend them.

Not my vid BTW just found on youtube - but you're welcome.

Doubt it was open at 12:15am though???

Which is why I plan to use the old route, although I have toyed with the idea of covering my euro plate and attaching the standard one so I can do a tunnel run.

Yeah it's a sign of the recession - sweets getting smaller, but the service is staying the same. Cutting costs in the correct areas!

Central, South and East: Forum Sponsor - Botany Motor Worx Shore: Bavarian Motors and I've not heard anything bad about BM Workshop either. If it were my money I'd go to Either Glenn @ Botany or Ernst and the team @ Bavarian

Like the colour of the rocker cover. Has given me an idea for mine - will be different to yours. Will have to talk paint when I next see you as I have a couple of questions for you.

I presume there is room for a second lane north when it gets extended? Bloody small-minded nz engineers - should have been designed with 3 or more lanes in mind and only construct 2 for now. I love this: (7km/3m43s)X60m=113km/h
-
How many lanes through the tunnel each way?

Sweet as man. Just glad you posted a picture or else it'd be pretty hard to diagnose.

Apart from the poor condition your coupling should look like this
-
OK, you have the coupling bolted up worng. 3 bolts hold the coupling to the output flange, and the input flange on the driveshaft is held on by 3 more bolts to the other 3 holes in the coupling. There are molded arros on the edge of the coupling by each hole pointing to the flange(so you know which holes for which flange. Other wise the coupling is doing nothing - not absorbing any shocck or vibration from the motor. It may as well be solid mounted. Also, check you have your universal's in phase. if you don't know what I mean, I'll post a picture. Also, If you have had the driveshaft in two halves, and the universals are inphase, try the halves 180 degrees different in case you did it wrong and stuffed up the balancing - the shaft is balanced as a single unit in the factory. Finally, if your centre hanger bearing is in good shape, make sure you preload it by pushing it about 3-5mm to the front of the car on its adjustment slots before tightening up the bolts all the way. It is normal to see the splines exposed as your photo shows.

Welcome, and whereabouts in the north? -
Crap. Missed out on placing my bid by about 2 mins because the damn ph rang! Ah well, I think the winner is a member on here anyway.

You're a funny bugger Ross! and wise too. If you don't mind back roads, turn off at Waiwera township, head under the old SH 1 and follow them out to Dairy Flat and Silverdale. Its a bit further, and no tunnels, but you miss the motoring madness on the main road.

The quotes are classic. That's a smart kid. Fairly dangerous though - article mentioned reaching the pedals was difficult - It was all fine while things were going well, but if he'd got into a bit of trouble it would've been all over rover.

I have an sw20 mr2. I will NOT be buying that hideous kit for it. Definately fail - seen some better ones overseas- still wouldn't do it, but not as bad as that one. If you're going to Ferrari your mr2, at least do it properly with a 355 kit:

Wouldn't surprise me a single bit if that story were true Brian.

The reason why this forum shouldn't tolerate boy-racers

It's not the ideas Martyn, but the fact they will be implemented in a hurry, and without regard for the consequences. I like the idea for demerits for unpaid fines. etc, but who's definition of a noisey vehicle is it? I have a noisier vehicle, but it passes its WOF. So a wanker cop decides to give me a ticket for my exhaust because he's having a bad day, and I have to pay for a noise test and fight it in court to get my demerits removed. Currently there is no demerits, and that is bad enough. False number plates (AKA out-sourced euro plates?) = demerits - how can you agree with that?? I like the idea of third party insurance, but if you have read all the consultation documentation (consultation is still in its early stages and many submissions were received) you'll see its not a simple as changing the law. I wouldn't be surprised if government ignored all the sensible submissions just to rush a law through. Lowering the alcohol level - I'm still not convinced that there are large numbers of accidents attributed to drivers who have been drinking, but are still under the current legal limits. it's just a way of making ir so you can't even have a single beer after work before you drive home. Make the penalty higher maybe, but are there really that many incidents caused by "drunk drivers" who are under the current limit??? What will lowering the level solve? It's not the ideas that are the problem mainly, but the same old story with rushed, poorly written, poorly thought out, and difficult to enforce, legislation. Don't try and fix the problem at its source! Lets just legislate the hell out of everyone and if it doesn't work, at least we'll have made some more money out of tickets!
