I have an sw20 mr2. I will NOT be buying that hideous kit for it. Definately fail - seen some better ones overseas- still wouldn't do it, but not as bad as that one. If you're going to Ferrari your mr2, at least do it properly with a 355 kit:

Wouldn't surprise me a single bit if that story were true Brian.

The reason why this forum shouldn't tolerate boy-racers

It's not the ideas Martyn, but the fact they will be implemented in a hurry, and without regard for the consequences. I like the idea for demerits for unpaid fines. etc, but who's definition of a noisey vehicle is it? I have a noisier vehicle, but it passes its WOF. So a wanker cop decides to give me a ticket for my exhaust because he's having a bad day, and I have to pay for a noise test and fight it in court to get my demerits removed. Currently there is no demerits, and that is bad enough. False number plates (AKA out-sourced euro plates?) = demerits - how can you agree with that?? I like the idea of third party insurance, but if you have read all the consultation documentation (consultation is still in its early stages and many submissions were received) you'll see its not a simple as changing the law. I wouldn't be surprised if government ignored all the sensible submissions just to rush a law through. Lowering the alcohol level - I'm still not convinced that there are large numbers of accidents attributed to drivers who have been drinking, but are still under the current legal limits. it's just a way of making ir so you can't even have a single beer after work before you drive home. Make the penalty higher maybe, but are there really that many incidents caused by "drunk drivers" who are under the current limit??? What will lowering the level solve? It's not the ideas that are the problem mainly, but the same old story with rushed, poorly written, poorly thought out, and difficult to enforce, legislation. Don't try and fix the problem at its source! Lets just legislate the hell out of everyone and if it doesn't work, at least we'll have made some more money out of tickets! -
NZ Herald Article Because it gives the government a mandate to rush legislation through with very little consultation. Some of the proposals have a good chance of once again f**king things up for the law abiding car modifier or motorist. If you do indulge in illegal street racing and the like, pull your head in.

Heard a rumour you were moving. Nice!

Not that that will get you anywhere. Media reporting in this country is lamer than the treaty claims. I think its time that everyone started to take a more unified view on inter-racial issues in this country. Maori have a fair amount of representation. Many of the issues that affect Maori are not as over-represented by Maori as they used to be and a different means of determining where extra help is required (locality, demographic, income, etc) could be used to help all nzers in the same boat rather than one particular cultural group. Part of the problem is the fairly vast differences between the typical nzer of european descent and that of maori descent. In some ways it has been a failing of the older members of our society with white parents bemoaning the "bludging maori" and maori parents telling their kids the reason they are poor is the white man. Both sides need to shut up and get on with it.

They look same/similar as the ones Matt has fitted to his e30 (See Panda coloured whip thread). Maybe ask him how he plans to get through WOF for details.

Haha Gus - I soo looked at getting one of those last year. Had a chat to Westy about it at one stage. Decide that I would have to drive it with the hardtop on all the time so I didn't look like a tool, and that it was probably too heavy to drive like my e30 so I didn't Would love to go for a ride when you get back though! BTW that car makes you look 15 years older!

Toit dude, f**king toit! Still my favourite BS project by far. I think its like a song you don't like at first, but then start to like it and it ends up being your favourite. Thats this car and me - wasn't so impressed at the start - thought it was going to be lame, but everytime Matt updates I get more excited. Can't wait to see this on the road.
-
Correct. If it's not perforated and you have to cut it, then you'll fail your WOF and won't be able to get it back on the road without a certified repair with engineers cert. No, no other panels can be removed. Ask at www.nzicemag.co.nz/forums If they havn't done it or know how, then you probably can't do it.

Dunno havn't been past there in a bit. Building is Gordon Banfields. Hawke Drive, Haruru - the boat building school. Get in touch this time you're up. About time we took that long promised trip out on the launch or went for a drive/beer etc. Its been ages.

Graham - funniest thing I've seen all day. Even funnier than my workmate mis-spelling our clients' name C. Jailbait instead of C. Galbraith.

I too got it in the email today - good old internet snowball.

Ok, so about 2 and a half years ago I bought a Transcend 1GB memory stick. I had it for about an hour and lost it. Tore the house apart and never found it. Here I am sitting at my desk and I find a small object in the pocket of the board shorts I'm wearing (relaxed office attire up here in the far north). I pull it out and lo and behold! its the long lost memory stick! Now this stick has been swimming in the sea maybe 50 or more times in the pocket of my boardies, and roughly the same number of machine washes and through the drier (static anyone???) So it is with some trepidation I remove some minor surface rust from the usb plug and slot it into my laptop. What do you know?? It works fine! Go solid state memory!!!

Wow! I suspected that the results might be fairly accurate, but this works even better than I thought!

Hah - just watched this one about the MaClaren F1. he's just finished mentioning they made everythingfrom scracth, and didn't borrow parts like switches etc from another manufacturer to save money and a few seconds later there's a cut to the centre console with a rather obvious BMW electric window switch lol. Me, a BMW nerd? f**k off! Oh, PS - yes I know the motor a a few other bits in the mclaren are BMW too - just weird that Jay didn't mention it esp since he's usually pretty on the ball about his cars.
-
Didn't know e30 obc had that function. How do you enable/disable??
-
Button left of hazards usually rear window demister and should glow orange when on.
-
Not sure about the 3 beeps - might be something aftermarket - OBC beeps when it's very cold, or when you go over the preset speed limt, but not 3 beeps, and its more like a "bong!" No other beeps for e30 OBC. Coolant sensor isn't affected by oil - its a mercury switch with a magentic float. The mercury switches fail or become overly sensitive over time - mines playing up at the moment too. Anyone know what they cost? Or you are losing coolant. Ask me about any of your mysterious things - I have an SA car so should be able to answer them. Also try Here

Which is what happens already lol! Paint the vans hot pink I say! Weren't the days of the camry camera cars great? You could spot one of those with the rear door up a mile off.
-
That'd be worth trying lol!
-
Oh yep, I can visualise it. Sweet.
-
Yeah it was pretty hot (OBC reckoned 31°C at one stage!) But managed to avoid the tar pits. Unlike those stupid dinosaurs.

WHat do you do about the spigot? Surely it would end up too short to fit in the bearing in the crankshaft? Is this where the adapter for the flywheel comes in? (Spigot bearing in centre of adapter) If the flywheel is spaced back too, what is the story with the starter motor??? Also, wouldn't this make your flywheel heavier?
