Hmm All jap imports smell like air freshner or carpet cleaner as 90% of the people who owned them smoke. My e30 at least smells not so bad ... have been in some cars and it smells like someones taken a dump in them. That or moving around dead bodys

I should have clarified, It was strange to sit in, not at all what i expected feeling wise. It defanitely had a 70's feel to it and the dash board felt like a more a boat cockpit and less a car. The dash was presented to you .. you didnt feel cacooned as you do with regular cars.

Ahh, I see the problem in your photos, sorry only just saw those! You have bored two holes in the bass reflex wall. The rear wall of a sub enclosure is where the sound waves 'double up' and build up pressure so to speak. you unfortunately have detuned the box by doing that and it will sound a lot weaker. You should only need 1 hole in the front panel that the sub mounts on. And use a thick pipe PVC tube or a proper plastic/nylon port. It should be about 15-20cm in length and sit inside the box while sitting flush with the front face of the box (same as the sub) Use cotton/nylon wool inside.. just a scrunched up sheet of it is fine, and dont pack it too tight, only enough to fill about 1/4-1/3 the volume. Face the sub backwards as you have. So you should have, the sub facing the back of the car, the port facing the back of the car, the bass reflx wall facing the front of the car. This is your classic ported box. Also one other thing, the box should be a little bigger for a 12 inch sub that you have there. not too much but just a bit wider each side should do it.

If ya need some shims for them, I have to right sizes / access to them. Ive just gone through the process of re doing all mine. I found out it was the reason my brakes were giving me some much trouble and over heating. Such a simple little thing can cause so much pain. lol Looking real sweet btw. Should be a good season for us all.

Future BMW 1M powered by a 4 cylinder turbo. Out of the box the 1M has some amazing road holding compared to the very old design of the e30 geometery. There are some interesting hill climb vids with DTM cars vs a stock 1M. The 1M is sh*t to a blanket. -

If its being turned into a race car who cares ? itll be stripped out and everything replaced and if your doing what I think your doing to it, to be compeditive I would ditch the geniune MS bumpers for fiberglass ones and lighten it up as much as possible.

All of the warm up programs and event vs ICV control. You can do datalogging on a stock DME. I've just finished writing some software that does exactly that amoung other things. You can tune a stock DME, and the best thing is you get to keep all of the stock run programs that make the car drivable day to day. You dont have to spend many trips the to dyno (an added price to the ECU) to try even remotely to get the same functionality. There are modules you can get to convert your stock DME to MAP so you can run a MAFless airbox, or if you dont want to run that you can just run it in AlphaN mode. There is nothing stopping you converting you car to ITB's with the stock DME. I'm not knocking (excuse the pun) Link plug-ins at all, just dont get why people want to spend thousands on something they already have ?
