e30 325i suspension upgrades?
hybrid replied to Apex Effects's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
You'll most likely just need to bite the bullet and get new '97/m3 control arms.. have a look on sites overseas .. as their pricing is pretty good .. seems your looking around 600-700 landed for the left and right. EG: http://replacement.autopartswarehouse.com/...rm&dp=false If you can find them second hand ... awesome! Also ask your parts guy to put a request out on the national second hand parts network wire... they have a mail list they all use. -
sorry dude .. hate to say it .. repost from a few years a go .. still pretty amazing though totally stupid however ..
-
yeah unfortunitly its going to take a bit more than just the straight swap The instrument cluster, gearbox controller and ECU are all interlinked .. its all possible but a lot of dicking around .. If I had another daily driver I would consider it .. but its already going to take 2 weeks to get the auto done
-
its normal .. word of advise .. let it before hitting the accelerator.

Driving to the girl friends last night and went to parallel park the car .. popped it into reverse .. gave it a little squeeze on the gas ... and uh oh ... felt like a badly slipping clutch ... Seems I have blown the reverse gear. Cars at 85000ks and is looked after with cotton white gloves.. Made a few phone calls including looking into doing a manual conversion .. Manual is out of the question at this point as upon a little investigation ... the list of parts .. and the re-programming needed to do it is going to be too much. Thanks to Glen from botany motor works for the recommendation ... sending it into his specialist to be looked at will keep you all updated.

further to what glen said: The cost on this is bloody expensive :/ your looking at around 7k to do the M-coupe/roadster rear conversion from new. The 5 series option is far better in this country. Also at this point in time .. nobody is wrecking a m-coupe/roadster in NZ. You can use your standard hand brake cable but as said above will need to get custom lines made up. This is not too expensive and pre-cert'd (road legal) braided ones only cost about $100 each. ($600 to do the whole e30) -

More tricks to play around with on your e46 are .... get out of the car, lock your car with your remote/key then unlock it while holding down the unlock button after a few seconds your electric windows will open ... same for closing them with the lock button. Mirrors: You have three memory buttons on the side of the seat, program #1 for your side mirrors in position for normal driving program button #2 for reversing (slightly inwards to see side of car) and program button #3 for your left mirror down so you can see the curb so you dont curb your wheels. its a life saver!

sweet .. just warning folks when reading US forums things dont always apply to us.
-
Bare in mind at all times while reading US forums that they are left hand drive and their s50 is more than likely to be the s50b30US .. which is and entirely different engine to the s50b30. It can get really confusing sometimes what information your actually reading.
