shithouse ... Am looking to get into tig and all of the research Ive done suggests to go with a known brand auto darkening mask. Which pretty much puts the mask at a similar/same price as the welding inverter. Which ultimately has been stopping me buying one $$$

I went through the same for a year until I realised what most miss. Got a very solid, high spec, highly equipped car that ticks all of the boxes that life throws at it. Its a case of being happy with what you have sometimes and that newer isn't always better.

Easy enough to convert to manual properly for those interested.

Good to know... Some vehicles (non BMW) have use it to allow testing of starter circuits. EG floor the throttle turn key to pos2, rest, then crank the car and it wont fire. Or in aftermarket ECUs it was used to switch motorsport functions like launch control or antilag on or off.

The Goke air boxes were around $3500 euro. Mind you I think that was for the CSL two piece style one. So good to see the price is more inline with reality. Quality is there though, it aint no ebay box, Phil just got one for his e30 m3. Very impressive quality. Tom that one on trademe probably needs to drop in price, you can almost get a new one with proper runner tuning for the price they want.. and without the damage. the brand I most prefer for the e36 and e46's is MAC google "MAC Carbon Airbox BMW M3 e36" or click here http://www.mac-motoren.de/

Ray did one with a whole e36 evo m3 rear end (diff etc) .. jesus christ it was a fun car .. even with the m52b28. 3.64 LSD and light flywheel on coil overs and full motorsport body work and manual + evo m3 wheels it was a hell of a riot. Dunno .. haven't tried that one! ... However in my findings a long the way BMW generally cover things like this with idiot proof mechanism built into the programming. if ( TPS_RAW == 0 || RPM_RAW == 0 || START_RAW != 1 ) { START_CONDITION = 1; PRG_START(); } else if ( TPS_RAW != 0 && RPM_RAW == 0 && START_RAW == 0 ) { START_CONDITION = 0; PRG_CRANK_NO_IGNITION(); } dunno, how i'd write it anyways. I always wondered thought if you hold full throttle on and go to pos2 it will open up some other programming on the DME. Might give it a crack next time I remember.

No I'm running e30 m3 front uprights so used my stock e30/325 ones. Everyone said to do e36 m3 control arms as well but that is just another internet myth I found in the end. Blame the americans for that one.

A potential reason for your TPS issue will be because of resistance buildup on the connection. EG bad connection. The way the MSS50.1 & TPS works is it every time you put the car to position 2 on the ignition after the DME has been switched off for around 30 seconds. It will re-adapt the program for the TPS back to 0%. It is known as an adaptive potentiometer. It is used to reset mechanical position 0 in relation to 0% every time the car starts. Also check your return springs and mechanical position of your throttle body plates that they are in-fact sealing 100% at idle.

Looks fine to me ? HE has the right tires profile on it to support it. Remember e30s had 18s on them back in the day too. EG most race series e30's ran BBS or Compomotive 18 x 9 wheels. Also, you're missing two massive points on this car. 1. Its 5 lug. EG pretty much impossible to find a 16 inch wheels in 5x120 2. Hes running bigger brakes (sensibly) for the upgraded power. 16 inch wheel dont house big brakes in 5x120 lug pattern very well, you again are very limited on wheel choice and short of getting hold of some 5x120 wierd offset BBS RSs .. your not going to be able to find wheels for it. Bonus. 16 inch tires are expensive. About the only thing I would do is put a set of offset control arm lollipops in to move the castor forward 1 inch to center the front wheel. Apart from that ... B)
