Would be worth getting compression properly tested if it hasnt already as aa often use relative compression where they measure the current draw to the starter and measure if its easier to compress any cylinder in comparison.to others. It doesnt tell you which cylinder is which either Cant imagine they spent an hour removing covers amd coil packs to do it properly.

Bmw set a universal service interval for the simple americans. If you run a m engine with 20k between changes you will end up with a very f**ked engine after 160kms Good oil every 5000kms is the best but expensive plan. If you run longer you must use bmw long life oil as normal crap will degrade

Yea did that. The low kms one i linked was shagged. Leaks everywhere. Worn suspension. sh*t not bolted down. And all servicing done by volvo dealer. Got one at 137kms would never guess it had done more than 50. And oh my god. A 4 hour drive home with someone who doesnt stop talking about absolute sh*t. The 540i often hit 110c with hard driving but the 6cyl shouldnt getvthat high. The v8 got as high as 113 but that was after 45 mins on the track non stop

just bear in mind its very very hard to modify the newer m54 ecu. So if you need to modify or delete EWS etc you will be looking at about $800 USD. i would buy a long block and build it up as a stroker. do all the gaskets and have a fresh painted and built engine ready to go in

there was a v12 jeep on trademe years back running a bmw v12 into a toyota mr2 box rotated 90 degrees to split the power front and rear to suzuki diffs. was really really weird

Bingo. Her previous cars include a daimler, lancia, alfa, fiat and an older volvo. So not the worst taste. Just unsuitable for her taste in driving style and maintanance

i have never agreed with anyone more than i agree with you right now chris. she lives in a middle of nowhere town with one mechanic who probably doesnt know volvos at all. she drives like crap, reversed her car into my house three times so far (fairly straight driveway) And then she test drove an s60 and that was that. nothing else would do. We may yet see a thread coming up called "jason tries to tidy up the worlds most f**ked hyundai sonata" or maybe "scrap value or bust"
