    Towbars

i have a good towbar from an e46 sedan. not sure if it is interchangable with touring. will have a look at how its mounted in a couple of hours when i get home and let you know how it looks. edit: looks like they are interchangable with some brands so i guess it depends how its mounted. will confirm shortly.(im suspicious mine is a factory item.)
  2. i have been told idling the car in neutral will stop the gearbox being damaged. keeps fluid flowing around. not sure but sounds legit Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  3. welcome to the forum. i dont mean to sound rude i just like to see people being cautious Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  4. hmm cash on pickup yet you seem to be in thailand. hope people take precautions before sending that much money to someone with no forum history. especially someone who joins just to sell stuff with pictures hosted on an foreign forum.
  5. yea felt bad being nowhere near to help. hope it all went okish, and at least you learnt something about the throwout bearing, and their quest to piss us off haha
  6. i have a first aid kit in the car, and kitchen and garage. not paranoid just prepared. also have an extinguisher in the car but thats only because i drive a bmw. usually that sits in the garage. saddest thing is i wasnt first on the scene, just first willing to help
  7. I helped someone at an accident scene a couple of years back, me and another passer by completed 25 minutes of cpr on a guy before the ambulance arrived. cant tell you if he survived or not, i didnt want to know really. not long after the ambo arrived i overheard a person complain that they had been filming with their iphone so long their arms hurt. took me quite some time staring at them to fully grasp how horrifically self centered that was, morbid for filming a dying man, and so selfish for that comment while the willing people had horribly sore bodies from the laboring task of cpr. if i could have lifted a fist he would have found it. i think more people should be trained in first aid in general. far to many people watch people die for want of first aid that they find gross. also i recommend a free app called "aed locations" gives you a map view, name and address of the nearest building with defibrillators inside. can save lives knowing where to go
  8. so having a look around it has the MS42 ecu which is pre electronic throttle but still late enough that removing ews is near on impossible by the looks. dont think im ready to redo the whole wiring system so selling and getting an e36 may be a better idea. open to sensible offers or could swap for either an e36 (engine and box are the most important parts here) or an e30 which is opposite engine and box are irrelevent. a friend suggested a link, which i said i wouldnt bother with a link without a supercharger, then i had a short but violent vision about my bank account and put the idea away where it cant hurt me.

    need help.

pop it out and look at the damGe first. you can go second hand but they still wont be hugely reliable. have a look on pelicanparts.com for part prices if you are capable of doing it yourself. come time to sell a system overhaul will be a selling point Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  11. so you mean borrow them for free? Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2

    need help.

yea fairly common occurance on bmws to pop a radiator. if you stopped driving straight away you likely wont have done much damage.(provided the radiator blew from age rather than overheating) expect the advice to be replacing radiator, hoses, thermostat, water pump and a couple of other bits. dependant on model parts can range in price but its worth the investment for piece of mind as its never a case of if but when. but as above see botany motor worx
  13. fairly rare parts. let alone lying around. ask somr guys with sr build threads. at worst you may get measurments to make your own stuff Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2
  14. seeing as this was listed with turners through an insurance company i would say they did pay out. the driver was charged with reckless driving but not excess breath alcohol so im guessing the drunk story was just what everyone assumes when they see a crash.
  15. Supercheap straight retail order in same day for auckland overnight everywhere else. Aircon $10.53 Alternator $21.93 Freight $6.95 Total for both $39.41 and still either bosch or mitsuba belts which are usually oem source so yeah just a repco issue by the looks assuming this is the 1998cc as everthing else looks to only have one belt for everything rather than the two seperate.
  16. looks like abit of an oversight. probably to much automation in their system.im sure they will sort it out. i have heard nothing bad about them in the past out of curiosity what export papers does a clutch need?
  17. would love to see any evidence that there is only a small differance in fatality levels. they arent there just for shits and giggles. i rather have an airbag burn than than a neck injury. also any proof that having an arm at 12 oclock will kill you. just like seatbelts people look for a reason to doubt them. i have heard people quote a single case where someone drowned due to being trapped by a seatbelt. and say" they kill more people than they save". natural selection i suppose. i also see people not wear belts because they have an airbag. i dont stay friends with such people
  18. car is in taupo. i had it shipped from masterton up to taupo via auto movements door to door for $319.32 incl gst. so should be something similar to auckland i would guess
  19. forgot to add. left front wheel has a small curb chip out of rim but has full size matching spare so can still make an untouched set of four. front tyres are brand new rears about 6 months old
  20. Hi guys looking at selling my e46 if anyone is interested. 1999 e46 328i tiptronic. m52tub28 twin vanos (no rattle) orient blue metallic cream leather interior (dirty but no rips so will clean up ok) 186kms nz new, includes full service history from new till now. has both keys with RF central locking, remote boot and factory immobilizer alarm system towbar cd stacker air con climate control all working (stereo missing main volume knob) very well looked after and very tidy all around. now the bad parts. its had a crash. slapped a railing recently. insurance company wrote off due to clause about buying new parts if available which put costs up. was warrented until april 14. needs, left guard, front bumper (support frame is bent but can be straightened, bumper mounts are fine) left headlight ( light ok but mounting tabs cracked so could be plastic welded maybe) left corner light. bonnet has a dent near the edge but could be straightened without to much effort) left rear taillight is chipped along lower edge but will possibly need placing for recomplaince suspension is untouched. plastic vents and under tray are fine. airbag system is fine, no warnings left rear quarter has a dent and scratching (borderline between paintless dent removal and polish or repaint metal tab that holds the left hand bumper mount is slightly bent but could be straightened without professional intervention. have figured about $1500 to do it myself including recompliance fees. but really to busy im in two minds about his car. part of me wants to see it on the road again and part of me wants to pull the motor for an e30 conversion (twin vanos ecu may hold me back) so if someone wants to give me what it owes me at $2200 and get a recomplaince project or racecar project going i will be happy to talk. if theres no interest i will likely part it out and keep the engine and related hardware.

    E38 750iL Cruiser

yea sorry wasnt really refering to this car in particular as the owner obviously does things correctly. was just talking in general. keep in mind the only way to stop this behaviour in future is to stop it now. in 15 year time if someone does this mod and their "old" 2014 bmw thinks the max weight is in the seat then suddenly the car hits a kid like a 140kg samoan and sh*t gets bad. i would be interested to know how much airbags actually cost the manufacturer at time of instalation. could indicate wether we will see a market for replacement bags in another decade when half of them are getting to old to function. anyway back to 750 goodness.
