  1. i know that, i wish i could prepay the tax too, would be "cheaper" to go away after spending on all the famn damily
  2. yes to first bit, re three wires versus two, i can't tell you, i haven't done the retrofit personally sorry, just relaying information i have stored here in this mushy computer in my head. the facelift ones i can confirm are only two pins. i can't think of a reason the prefacelift ones would be 3 pin though, maybe low beam and park beam are off one bulb??? in the later style there are physically two bulbs, one small blade type one for the parks, and one for the lows i think its an H3 from memory
  3. sounds like you need to get a clutch kit from Gavin at Euro-Italian (forum sponsor) or Paul at MillAnd has all the clutch related bits you need and also a new pressure plate and also not a bad idea to change the rear main seal on the engine, and the input shaft seal on the gearbox while you are in there, if money allows and you have a do it once do it right attitude, they are tuppence each really
  4. DME/ECU you should have already found, if not have you even plugged it in the motor swap??????? It is in the Black square box against the firewall on the right hand side of the car (in front of the driver in our case). There are three rows of pins and the ones on each end (so 6 of the pins) are numbered, from there you need to count backwards/forward to find the right ones. Would be a good idea to find an ETM (electronic troubleshooting manual) for your specific car if you continue to have problems, but in the mean time anyways, below is a link for an E30 325i facelift one which is the same engine as you are using, jump to page 1360-2 and you will see the crank position sensor connecting to pins 47 and 48 everything to do with the engine on the E30 325i facelift will be the same as your M20 E34, what this link won't be accurate on is component locations in some cases, thats why you can find one in your own time if you do continue to have issues. http://www.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e30/e30_89.pdf let me know either way if you have any more questions for tonight, i am about to jump off here and go to bed but id rather not leave you hanging if you want to get stuck in in the morning
  5. this one is a friend of mines, well sort of, i went to high school with the guy many years ago good car, have seen it, can have a better look at it if needed, i think the price might be a bit high but its easy to say that from afar http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-678269350.htm
  6. as far as bolting them on, yes plug and play as far as wiring them, no not plug and play you need to buy the later ones with plugs on them and cut the old plugs off, cut one plug and solder the new plug on before turning to the next bulb so you don't get them mixed up. worst comes to the worst, i have some plugs here if you can only find the bulbs
  7. what year and model is the donor car? E34 or E30 or E28 etc? the fuel pump normally does prime for a few seconds when you first turn on the ignition from memory but it does check for spark on cylinder 6 as it is cranking, and yes using the cable you have identified also check that the crank position sensor is at 540ohms +/-5% with a multimeter, to check this you can either unplug the DME/ECU and check between pins 47 and 48, or unplug the connector under the intake manifold and check the two pins there. the fuel pump relay will be just in front of the shock tower in a little box along with two other relays, usually this relay is blue and in the middle of the three relays, and will have 4 pins the white one in that box is the main relay which will have 5 pins take off the fuel feed line and turn the engine over for a few seconds (good idea to put the hose into a 1L milk bottle or a jam jar etc) and see if fuel comes out. if no, check the one you believe to be the return. an M20 engine will run without oil, (though not for long, and don't ask how i know...) thats one of the only basic self checks the engine doesn't really do post back after you had a look at these things
  8. suddenly a V1 looks really attractive even to the people that knock them.
  9. thats exactly what it does. checks that the engine is firing by inducing a charge, so if the coil dies, the engine knows and stops trying to dump fuel to get the engine running and potentially damaging the car etc etc. of course, any of the other 5 not firing it doesn't "know" but the system isn't really designed that way anyways.
  10. should have invited yourself over for a beer mate
  11. plenty of E36s last time i went to pick a part if you are in that area anytime soon might be worth popping up
  12. Just seen this on another forum, some real interesting pics as a result! Really simple, go take a photo of your BMW(s) right now wherever they are and post a photo Rules: Do it now Don't wash it Don't move it Don't photoshop it Don't remove your sh*t sitting on the roof go go go Ill start

    .

are they on trade me? much bigger audience, especially for, lets admit it, weird plates. i feel someone had to say it lol
  15. oh i have the Corgi E30 M3 as well, resprayed in real BMW diamond schwartz metallic (colour of my first E30) using a touch up spray can. and the 2002tii
  16. whether the car is import or not, the original serial number is along firewall underneath the arm for the left hand wiper, on the "outside" of the rubber strip. If its not there, then the car has been altered somehow, stolen and retagged, rebuilt, etc. also plenty of other places to find it too but thats the easiest way.
  17. have heaps in my garage, couple E30 M3s etc but I'm not a 'stays in the box' type collector tho although 2 weeks ago i told my friend who is Lancer Evo mad that i brought an Evo 7 and its in my garage, he was here within the hour, wasn't too happy it was just a toy lol
  18. Its true, i know my E34s have it too, its in the owners manual lol
  19. lol i think you might be getting more than $850 for it somehow, i would buy it myself if i didn't already have an E30 plate
  20. very cool except the mercedes V12 badge on the boot, the BMW one looks different to that i could be wrong however edit: fault light may just need clearing once you have solved problem, not sure if it goes away by itself on this car like they do on some????
  21. figured it out i think Google suggests its an Avast/Safari issue so we will see if i have solved it
  22. keeps on adding all these other words for me, like this post in link below, used to hardly ever do it, now seems to always do it http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/47358-e34-rear-camber-and-toe-adjustments/?p=513282 WebRep currentVote noRating noWeight
