i have one, its for when the roof is up, to keep dust, and more importantly the sun off the plastic window when parked outside. there are 4 hooks that hook into the canvas by the rear side windows. then the two loose tabs go in between the bootlid and the body, so open the boot, tabs go down into the boot (underneath the lid, and then close the lid and it will secure these tabs. you shouldnt be able to pull it off. I just set it up in the garage so you can see, im so embarassed the car is dirty! f**kin cat walked on it in the night while i was in riversdale for the weekend and been flat tack in the days i havent cleaned it

saw a very tidy Alpine White E30 on BBS's this morning about 10.30 upper hutt motorway, have seen it around a few tims now but i dont think they are a member???? and then a very late model Porsche Cayenne followed buy an AMG C or S63 both doing easily 160km/h if not more on the motorway out of wellington before the Porirua flyover. both murdered out, weaving in and out of traffic, looked like a gang movie!

Projector styles are cross compatible, whether they are smiley euro/NZ spec ones or the Japanese spec ones you have on your car in those pictures. I put smileys on my Jap spec 320i years ago and i KNOW i didnt have the entire housing because i imported the smileys. this was before i met Ray and before Brent and Jon had set up thier shops. having said that, (and i could be wrong) but im pretty sure projector headlights never came in the prefacelifts, so someone may have swapped them on your car at some stage in the past already, and possibly modified the housing to make it fit?? as far as the lense swap goes, you might be meaning me as i did tell you the lenses are cross compatible. they are. the smiley part is as you correctly say not part of the lense.

im not sure if its possible to read it in the E34, but you may possibly be able to suck some information from the car by getting it scanned and foussing on that system??? Glenn or someone like that may know.

1987 E30 318i manual coupe - How much is it worth?

Hey ya asked for a number. It's worth the price at which you are happy to sell it for. Anything over that is a bonus. I wouldn't take one on as a do up project as they are least desirable engine in the chassis, does have a manual box behind it. And you will probably sell to someone for thier first car etc, most likely not an enthusiast, which is where the higher prices are -
Will have to come steal yours, don't think Greg in the bay will let me drive his!

I need said sign for my shed lol

Don't get me wrong, E36 is a great car too. As far as E36 I have had go, I have only owned a 318i/M and 318iS/A that chassis, also did a fair bit if mileage in a 320i/A at one point, and im sure 328i go as well if not better than e30 325i, but the drive is boring, and you don't need a big engine to know that, one of my E30 316i were one of the most fun cars I have owned

Max $2k, even enthusiasts tend to forget about the M10 -
E30 M3 is more expencive than E36 M3, half as much to twice as much again. however when you start throwing the M3 word around, things start to change. The rational decision would be to choose the E36 M3, much better engine than the S14, better rear suspension to make the most of the power etc The enthusiasts or investors decision (providing the have the paper) is the E30 M3. M325i coupe, in manual of course, probably the best value for money E30 if you are wanting to keep it stock (ie not bother about engine swaps), and can be had for less than $10k even tidy ones. But for how much longer? hard to say. and will they appreciate more than a Motorsport 328i E36 coupe? also hard to say, but probably more likely. But I have seen (as well as most of us here that get our hands dirty here) BMW engines in all sorts of states of repair, and whats on the clock is probably a less than 10% indicator of what condition it is in.

E36 and E30 are totally different cars, how anyone could get passionate about an E36 (other than an M3 i guess) i dont know. As far as comparing an E30 to a Corolla though, call me biased and the defencive responce, but you must have driven a pretty terribly maintained one to claim that. having said that, nothing wrong with any 6 cylinder E36 really. Suffer similar issues to the E34, glue often fails in the headlining and door cards, plastic cooling systems have long since perished and just waiting to give out, etc, but as long as you are buying from someone that is a bit quirky (and therefore more likely to be somewhat OCD in maintaining thier 20 year old BMW) you should be ok
-
or maybe i could be persuaded to take a whole M70, wouldnt matter too much if its cooked etc.
-
If there are any out there, maybe you have converted to cable setup. Complete assemblies would be good Pretty sure both banks are the same, but looking for one for left hand bank (located on right side of engine), or maybe take two etc

My E30 cab is with Swann as well, three hundred and something a year, all i had to do was provide a valuation (maybe because i already said i would) and some pictures. But although there is no milage limit, it has to be your second car that is not daily driven.
-
you can tell them any figure you like, unless it is agreed value (which it more often than not wont be unless its a classic car policy) they wont pay that figure. you could insure moms corolla for $100,000 and pay the premiums, they dont care. If it is agreed value and they dont want a valuation, send them an email saying this is what you think its worth and ask them if they want you to provide a valuation, if they dont at least you have that in writing. but all the more desirable E30s save for the M3 of course, eg E30 cab, E30 touring, m325i, all seem to move about $6-8k depending on condition, thats over the last several years, they havent really gone up or down. My cab is agreed value (with valuation) at $10k

got that one here, you should have just taken whole engine! there is a guy that wants to buy whats left of that motor, but ill be surprised if it eventuates. unknown condition, may be fine, may be a nightmare?? headgasket is blown on the car tho
