  1. if i had to do again i would glue and then stitch a line horizontally every 100mm or so with some thread the same colour for some extra support??i used the 3M stuff in my silver e34 touring, came up okay but i see the car is on trademe at the moment and "headliner is a mess" so clearly didn't last very long.
  2. So odd question.. but there must be a reason that wall insulation is different to roof, or is it all just marketing? i have a bale left over from renovations and am thinking i might use it in the garage now we are coming in to winter. particularly concerned if there is any added fire risk. edit: it is a versalite garage or whatever they are called, the kit set type. cheers Andy
  3. lol at the questions some clown comparing it to an E93
  4. Nothing really to add, but if you want to sell your m3 setup lets talk
  5. Totally agree. Life is defined as the average time the car is in the dealer netowork. I.e. 3 years, 5 at a push. You can put a marketing spin on something, but scientists are paid more than marketers
  6. I remember my first beer
  7. All of which has been covered, except the lhd rhd mounts which is not needed to be commented on. OP knows the engine doesn't spin the opposite way just because it's right hand drive.
  8. who from? John and I have both done the swap ourselves with this exact setup. the only variation on our own builds was that flange on the back of the gearbox. Nick, be aware any modification to the driveshaft, again another red flag for your cert guy and also to WOF inspector if you plan to drive uncharted for a bit.
  9. i have two rolling sedans and one coupe (not rolling) in wellington. one of the sedans is ready to be collected you can have it, scrap man is only going to give me peanuts for it anyways. coupe body i wouldnt mind something for.
  10. Good idea playing it safe. Hiccups are a pain when it comes to cert. And if he sees a bodge job in one place he's just going to look more closely everywhere. Mind posting part number and price from BMW?
  11. Small and medium has no impact, the axles and inputs are geometrically in the same place etc meanings small and medium are cross compatible, no need to change axles or driveshaft length. I used a 320 manual driveshaft in my swap, same engine and same gearbox setup. Bolted up no issue. Sounds like maybe you have a 325 driveshaft? Rear half is the same on all e30s except maybe m3, just variation in front half. Measure overall length when you get a chance.

    E36 M3ish

I have my front setup under control, but whats the advantage of this in the rear? and how are the rotors different other than larger diameter.... do they have a bigger offset too? just wondering how it would work on a compact (which run the same callipers as other E36, but i think the disks are specific
  13. he came the other way on a dark street and took them out of my hands after i sold my V12 touring
  14. plenty of people in here http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/50444-official-tools-for-hire-thread/
  15. throw the 4 away. not worth keeping on the road in my opinion, as said above will be costly to fix and software is designed to make obsolete and run very slow etc. the 5 it is possible to replace the speaker, i have a few contacts here and would get it done for you. just means shipping it down.
  16. pull up vertically at the front of the seat, there is a clip in the middle of each seat (between a passengers legs if there was one there, recommend to remove the passenger before you forage between their legs) and then once unclipped slide it forward and out. reinstall can be a pain and will need persuasion to get back enough for the clips to go back into the bottom of the seat. becomes obvious once you are in there. remember to pull out the middle passengers lap belt and buckle out of the way before reinstalling seat base. hope this helps! Edit, I also wrecked a M20 525i at one point and have all the modules in my shed, if you need any just let me know. will need BMW parts numbers off the top or better still a photo if you can
  17. This is a BMW forum, i would be expecting something a little more classy than weed....
  18. probably can use E36 compact in stead of coupe ones? one thing to think about as well is if you want electric or manual, as the wiring for them and the airbag sensor is all a bit different. stick with what you have in the car currently e.g. if you have electric now buy electric sports etc.
  19. just googled it to see the cover, i have that too. comes free if you want to buy my 2002. and some other 2002 books and bits and pieces too.
  20. i have one i am thinking about letting go.... it is a project, and a big one at that. but rego is still live, and it hasn't been tagged in the system for the rust it has...
  21. my compact is exactly the same as this, just a bit lighter. easily the quickest car i have owned to date, yes that include the V12 E34, and the cheapest build i have done too lol damn.
  22. have you called BMW? you may find its reasonably priced.
  23. Try Jon at Auto38 he will probably have it, i do as well but car hasn't had a drivers door for 6 months and open to the elements, glue is probably compromised etc by now. PM me for Jons number if required, not sure if he likes it published!
