  2. not sure but i doubt it as the throttle is electronic on this car it is not mechanical
  3. Yeah i saw it at NZ Car Parts as i drove past, they were looking at the front guards so maybe they learnt already how not to live the low life????
  4. I think Rob May is looking for one still, "Rob HB1" on here
  5. Where are you? Can do in Wellington. send me a PM if interested
  6. No, the police decided they were not stolen and obtained legitimately. There is a bit more to the story, but the key notes are above. Also, have a look here on abandoned property. The BMW was deregisters and didn't run, fading paint etc and the trailer very rusty scrap value far far less than the cost of storing etc. https://tenancy.govt.nz/ending-a-tenancy/abandoned-premises-and-goods/abandoned-goods/#id_263236-2-the-landlord-must-decide-whether-to-store-dispose-of-or-sell-the-goods
  7. my E36 compact that is my race car was along those lines. my work moved into a new facility, and there was my compact and also a car trailer parked out the back had been there for years. I approached the landlord and after a bit of communication brought both the car and the trailer for $100. never had any further issues with the car, but the trailer i tidied up and sold, and then the previous owner filed a police report that I had stolen it, I explained to the police it was on the property i was leasing for 4 months and we needed the space so the landlord disposed of it (disposed who to is irrelevant in this case). The old owner approached the police after many more months of vacating the property. I got his contact number after the police decided it was a matter for a tribunal court and not their jurisdiction. and so I told him that I would be invoicing him for storage space for the 4 months if we went any further. One way or another the problem disappeared. The main thing I am trying to say, is make sure that you PURCHASE the car, even for $1, from your work or the property owner etc. That way you have another line of defence if it goes sour, and you cannot be done for theft. You may loose the vehicle as with any other stolen goods you inadvertently buy, but the seller would be the one that has sold it to you with potentially no authority to do so.
  8. I used wheel magician many many years ago when i first brought my E34 touring, lasted very well for many years and only every flaked a bit around the wheel bolt holes but then i was taking the wheels off and on far more than what would be considered normal. having said that, yes it did flake, and I'm no painter but i suspect its because they don't in any way bake the paint on there etc as there is no room for an oven in the back of a Mitsi L300
  9. Cool what tyres did you end up running? And can I by the ltw wing haha
  10. ^^^fair point, but might just nip this thread in the bud, i think its run its course.
  11. 735 is probably the base model in the E65 generation? as long as it was better spec than the outgoing 728i E38 its probably all that was needed to sell them.
  12. if you want to quote me thats fine, but please don't restructure my sentences
  13. My bosses Porsche 356 Speedster replica (off an early VW Beetle chassis) is registered as a 2012 or so Porsche (50-60 years) My Lada 2104 Wagon i had many moons ago was a 1992 car even though it arrived in NZ or at least built in 1983 (9 years) My E30 325i Cabby is a 1992 but built August 1990 (19 months) My Ford Transit Custom i just brought is a 2013 but built November 2012 (5 months) Let the buyer beware. Its kind of a legal term used to get around such situations.
  14. haven't driven an E39 540i (544i) manual, been in but not driven a friends one before it was sold to another friend, and it was a blast. driven Brents E34 544i swap manual touring and that was awesome but just on motorway so didn't abuse it in any case would rather throw an E34 around over an E39 any day, no mater what engine.
  15. if you had posted this a year ago, all the stretch kids would be in here, but fortunately, seems to be something that has been left behind in 2015. Suddenly the oversized tyre look i have on my E30 is cool again, maybe I'm a trend setter and ahead of the game??? idk looks good to me! I love an aggressive offset with a good chunky tyre and fender flares.
  16. splitter needs to be black though i think!
  17. kW doesn't tell the whole story though does it!
  18. I have speed bumps around my house never bothered me much but my new turbo diesel transit doesn't like them as its off boost in third or revving too much to do them in second. Annoying every morning and every night. Still. Too much traffic the other way so I live with it
  19. Demonstrator on dealer plates? From memory my cabby was built almost two years before it was registered
  20. So new parts could be faulty? Compression is good but I know it's not strictly the correct method to check blow by as a possibility
