never heard of spring pads being a requirement. they are only for comfort and to keep the noise down etc. but i could be wrong.
-
Have seen a few over the years that damage the strut and push out at the bottom of the spring purch from running with no pad. then rust gets in there not a good look. probably want thinnest you can get otherwise will counteract the whol point of the lower tophats

John get in here

Thats unlike you to stick Colin Craig to the side of your car! thought you would have skipped that sheet of paper lol
-

$200+ worth of fluid and filter down the drain IF it shits it self, then the taxi ride to get home and another tow truck. could be $400 or so. Thier time might be free, but you could be in the hammock having a beer instead. or cut losses, use the fluids and filter on a known good trans, and set and forget. i see what you mean Kelvin but yeah just doesnt stack up.

Any e39's on super low springs?
_ethrty-Andy_ replied to twiggles94's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
if all you want is 20mm, take your spring pads out top and bottom, that should give you the best part of that. Or run oversize tyres next time you buy tyres, went this route on my E30, gives the low look, wheels fill up the gaurds etc but i dont need to worry about speed bumps, driveways etc. -
you should have skidded it up and got the ass around GTA5 style and then backed out
-
yes was hoping you were coming so i could see how 25 year old calypso stacks up against 2 month old!! Having said that the fog was around, very wierd. colours didnt pop at all really

you feeling the E30 itch after hanging out with 5 of them today?? Been on that lot for over a year, i have seen it a bunch of times, never bothered to pull over and look though, the number in the window tells me all i need to know. worth Half that if its a 325i manual. Will also give a set of black grills 100% free of charge to anyone that buys it so i never have to see it like that again.

yeah, at least with the Coraddo its a sort after car that a serious inquirer would be calling about it anyways. pretty rare etc. Or maybe the guys missus says he has to sell the car but he don't want to lol

prehaps the booster has failed from when it was hooked up incorrectly? or would the brakes be hard not soft if the booster failed (from no assistance) or maybe the booster over pressurised the master cylinder and blew that up? i dont know enough about how the system works though, someone else will now more. E30 brakes arent that flash, but are very reliable, in the 15 odd E30s i have had, never had brake problems so havent needed to learn.

i suggested heat may be an issue for the amplifier in this location, what do others think?

i wonder if i should offer them a nice 728i swap. Although i have told myself i wont own a V12 again..
-
brake booster or master is highly unlikely to fail coincidentally to your engine swap. something is still not hooked up correctly i would say. does yours look like the pictures i posted above now?
-
noone is being rude. you must have misinterpreted what Justin and I said. in any case, what you paid is irrelevant. My offer stands if you want it. I do not need the boot lid.
-
thats what i thought. offered him more than 100 but not 300, but he says he paid 300 for it

here are three pictures of my car that should help. My car is a Motronic (aka Facelift) M20B25 E30. there are different size boots for the 2L and 2.5L engine, the correct 2.5L one i would expect to be delivered with the engine you have brought, but if not, they are approx $60-$80 new from memory from the likes of Gavin at EuroItalian, Brent @ BM World (if he has them) etc. if you need the car running asap, probably possible to fit the 2L throttle body onto the 2.5L manifold so you can use the 2L boot, but not the correct way to do it.

to be fair, i do tell people dont judge a BMW on the 318i you drive, maybe i am a bit harsh on the 190E when i am doing the same thing the other way round. oh yeah now you mention the system thats right, my one conked out at the far end of the VTNZ inspection lane, it got its sticker but couldnt get home. Helpful guy in the diesel trucks lane came over he was a Merc guy back home in Ukraine or Russia or something, just happened to have a spare fuel electro whachamadoodle in his car plugged it in got home and ordered one off a croud called Startech who were very helpfull.
