  1. can have a look when you pop over, give me a PM at some stage
  2. ive never spent much time on the 4 cylinder e36 engines so dont know what these guys are refering too, but just my observation in the one you have posted ha strike the 36mm part from my last comment btw, had the other type cap in my head
  3. the vehicle may require additional work to get it road worthy,
  4. hard to say why that might happen unless the recepticle is all gunked up with ash etc? Piece of cake to change, i probably have one in my compact that is not needed you can have
  5. Looks like the oil cap on top of the filter could do with at least another 3 quarters turn before it would be snug. needs a 36mm to do
  6. usually you dont know about the plastic cooling bits being brittle and damaged until its too late. they can look perfect. Plastic came after the alloy, the alloy was not a revision. Having said that, I always revert back to alloy even on do up to sell cars if i am working in this area. Also, its not that BMW used poor plastic in the cooling systems, its just that its 20 years old now and gone through 100,000 heat cycles. furthermore, Kiwis dont do preventative maintenence, and wait till something breaks. And no E36 is still in the hands of the person that brought it new.
  7. Look i hate to rag on a guys post, but you need to fix the exhaust, looks like the hangers have gone AWOL , back box is hanging down two inches lower than it should be!!
  8. bugger check part numbers, are you sure they are wasgon specific? could get away with a pair of sedan ones if it came to it?
  9. Brent at BM World will have one probably, he wrecked a 540 wagon a few months back
  10. In for Piano black pictures. I like the wood everywhere in mine except for around the gear stick, would prefer that was flat black plastic like normal trim, its the only wood in mine that isnt around the edge of dash and doors, and looks out of place Wouldnt mind a 16:9 screen too........
  11. BMW left the room for some people that needed to be bound and thier ears or fingers cut off. Balances out the V12 very nicely
  12. less hassle finding a M40 G240 box and having a bolt in ready to go solution, than hacking up a shifter. Also, if you are planning to run no cert its a screaming alarm bell having a modified linkage, if you are planning to run with cert, you may need to get it crack tested. just things to think about. Try Jon at Auto38 in Masterton, he may very well have the box you are looking for
  13. sweet and sour pork brand tyres
  14. Spent many hours on my E38 this weekend getting it all legal and ready for ECC meet next weekend. Since i have got it the back has bounced all over the place, so got some second hand rear struts off Dave and put those in, what a difference. Sure they are probably getting a bit tired, but some shocks is better than nothing! Next time I do it ill do the H&R/Billy combo Also replaced front brake pads, very easy on this car, it has the factory 4 pot Brembo calipers, you dont even need to remove the caliper just two pins to knock out the side and away. spend more time jacking the car and taking the wheels off Replaced left lower arm, wof fail, boring Tighted up right front shock, bolt in backwards from previous owner, knuckle was sitting loosely in the strut tube, i highly doubt it could ever fall out but i never would have spotted that underneath, I doubt a normal mechanic would either, was VTNZ that found it since they use the wheel shaker machine over the pit you can see all front suspension moving very well. Then realised I didnt have a compatible brake pad wear sensor so rang around, found one today at Repco Masterton, so that was excuse enough to mission over the hill to check the car is all tickety boo for the run to Auckland on Saturday. front suspension fixes has also made the steering wheel sit dead straight too instead of slightly to the left Car handles very well for such a big car, but the new limitation is the tyres, Will have to buy some for the front at least this week I think, I just dont feel safe with them. Back can wait, its only a 728 and has ASC so its never going to even think about slipping in the back. But its a big heavy car, needs good grip for turning and braking in the back. Sorry for long post. Dont have a project thread for this car as while its getting attention like its just another car from me, its still a hack in my mind i guess! Dont get me wrong i really love the E38, but just not sure the one i fall in love with should be a 728i lol.
  15. that boot fitment around the E39 prefacelift lights really pulls it all together
  16. all tourings are 320i it seems!! Very cool, this one was Ians one right?
  17. Some pretty awesome E30 projects in the build at the moment, and awesome to see so many away from the usual M52 swap now better engines are coming down in price

    MissBM V.2

You still tryna flog those Brent lol Amber I have some of those black ones, the previous owner had them on a car i tidied up, i put genuine BMW ones on it still have the black ones. You can have them and give them a try if you want. Regift if you dont like them lol
  19. true i should have got that! Mike fitted me up with a really good deal on a Fenix that i had to take the gamble and have got that sitting in the box ready for me! if it all turns to sh*t i will get one of these!!!
  20. sounds like its a straight 6 then, I have found the DMEs die in them, just a very tightly packed DME box so they do get very warm. Where abouts are you
  21. rev it in neutral, will rev up very quickly and sounds like a silky 12 or rev slower than usual and will sound like a 6
  22. is it running on 6 or 12 cylinders?
  23. a cam sensor fault does not necessarily mean its the sensor it self, otherwise why would BMW put it there if its only reason is to fail. The sensor actually does something, the faullt code is just a bread crumb along a path
