If all else fails MillAnd brought me in a genuine key from Germany, took less than 2 weeks from payment to delivery and came to about $260 inc GST. Far cheaper than the Stealership and only a couple of days slower

WTB: E30 window lever & interior door release surround
Ahmedsinc replied to Ahmedsinc's topic in Want to buy
What colour? -
As above, need a replacement window lever & 2 x door release bezels. Tia

Have a set. PM me

Had a similar issue with my E36 a few years back - intermittent locking, some doors / fuel flap / boot not locking, rarely the same door consecutively etc.. Replace the body control (ZKE / GMIV)module in the centre console underneath the blower controls. Brent sussed me out with a replacement module fairly cheaply. Will also lead to power window issues sooner or later, dry / cracked solder joints apparently are the culprits.

No support for the M52/54? Surprising!
-
Megasquirt is a good option too. Better priced and equally as functional as Link Go straight through DIYautotune, the local reseller places a heavy markup and dent seem to offer anything beyond V2 hardware

Wot, no grinder?!

Kayne Barrie would probably have the inside word

Fairly sure the ISO points were a factory retrofit option. My '01 wagon doesn't have them. Far easier and cheaper to have them fitted than spend a lifetime trying to find a wagon that already has them

I had one parked on a stand for 12+ months. Loaded it onto a trailer and shifted house. Ran the correct tap through it before I bolted the gearbox back on, sailed straight through. Just because its aluminium doesn't mean its weak. Your only concern will be finding the right pitch bolts to hold it to your stand - should need minimal torquing

Haven't yet checked continuity from the module plug, I doubt theres a wiring fault though it can't entirely be ruled out I guess. Did think it was odd for a hall sensor to fail, nothings impossible but. Will have another dig about with the MM and see what else I can find 2001, Bosch 5.7 - module in the engine bay, unfortunately. Given it's a 15 year old car with 165000km and the reputation these units have for failure I'm anticipating its the module at fault Yeah, theres also the downtime while waiting for the unit to be assessed to see if it's even repairable. Will look at the .de site, I get the feeling the wallet is gonna be haemorrhaging for a while over this Choice, will do

Have had the ABS & traction control lights intermittently appearing on wifeys 530i for +/- 1 week now. Have scanned with INPA & have found fault code 31 - open right rear wheel speed sensor. Swapped sensor for a known good used part and tried to clear error memory with no success, have tested the sensors for continuity (fine) & resistance (~4.5MΩ). Fault code instantly reappears after memory is erased, same number of incidents (220-ish iirc) Am I on the right track assuming its the ABS module at fault here? So far Dr Google suggests I'm correct in preparing for the worst - would appreciate learned input here before I run out and blow a wad of cash on parts I don't need. Also if anyone knows of an outfit in NZ that can refurb my current unit that'd be great!

Unless you plan on tracking the car at various venues I really don't see the point with coilovers. Becomes a very expensive option once cert costs are factored in, don't forget to add shipping + GST + import duties to the bill - adds up real fast. Get in touch with George Stocks & Co here in Auckland - they'll sort you out with Konis and some nice springs for cheaper than you'd think

Nice, Sunflowers have always been one of my favourite E36 wheels. Ditch the fake ///M badge from the grill though, kinda makes it look a bit tacky IMO. Whats the status of your suspension? Since theres all the extra horsepowers it might be time for a nice set of Konis and maybe some matched EIbachs / H&Rs?
-
Going rate for these wheels with tyres is more like $450-700 lately. Nice to see the PO had the right sizes fitted on the rear though glws

CNG / LPG burners aren't a hell of a lot of use in this situation, they only burn at 1950ºC compared to roughly 3500ºC from an oxy - acetylene torch.

Is this Lucans old car?
-
f**k it dude, just junk it - you'll only lose more time and energy obsessing over something thats already dead. Trouble with the M6x transplants into the E36/46 is the subframe vs sump issue. How about a single Vanos 3l stroked turbo M50? Better power, more torque and no engineering issues. Better yet, how about an LS1?
-
Sorry dude, matte paint just ruins BBS's IMO. Bloody good wheels for the money though
-
Have got a pair in the shed, will need to check condition though
-
Looks like a tidy install, well done. All it needs now is some LMs & a Holset
-
Neat little units really, can go up to 6 channel spark & 4 channel fuel on the MS2, full sequential fuel & spark plus enough outputs to handle dual vanos and a couple extra tricks if you go to the MS3. Far cheaper than Link etc, and way more user friendly IMO

Whats the latest? Outright replacing the car or are you gonna do the B25 transplant?

Started the last phase of the Megasquirt project. Wondered why I chose to tackle this while simultaneously minding the toddler. Also remembered just how hot solder can get when it lands on bare toes.
