Sorry dude, my usefulness ceases at earthing. Wonder if Jochen or Hotwire still check in, this sounds like a puzzle for those two

Marvellous! It's been donated by another 325i coupe, so no worries there. Really wasn't looking forward to removing the carpets so I could bolt in driveshaft hoops! Ta muchly

Wow, didn't realize X5s retain their value so much! Cheapest one I saw was 260+ km & they're still asking 12 grand Should be able to find a tidy E39 estate for that sort of $, seems patience is often the key Happy hunting!

Hi all, was having a wee look on the lvvta site this morning with regards to cert obligations after a manual conversion. Assuming I'm not a total retard I take it this tells me on the proviso I use unmodified OEM parts I am not required to have the conversion certified? Only bit I'm a little uncertain with is "no replacement gearbox cross-member is used". The kit I have coming has the relevant cross member - is that gonna cause me any trouble with the man? Have been waiting to do this to the 325i for years, last thing I want is to find it's not legal! Thanks

really think you should just modify the bumper to suit mate. these mufflers are uncommonly rare in new zealand, and for the sake of carving out stuff all plastic (which only the most pedantic of enthusiasts would notice) it seems to me an acceptable compromise. If you're anything like me you'll kick yourself if you let the opportunity pass just my 2 cents

So it's the 188mm ring gear? Any idea if the centre can be used in later diffs?

Have a 3.64 E30 medium case open available if you want it. PM if interested

Will the gear in the motor resist the downforce at 60mph? Would make a funny sight as you're going opposite lock through a corner on the track with your rear spoiler rotating like a push mower blade Really enjoying the thought processes here though Slow day at work??

"rogan Posted Apr 18 2013, 10:01 PM One issue might be the factory amp. It's in the boot and has internal crossovers so you'll need to search around on how to tie an aftermarket h/u into the factory amp." Start looking around the interwebs, there's bound to be plenty of threads from other e39 owners covering the same issue -
A quick look at http://www.whatsmyduty.org.nz/ puts the import taxes at nearly $1000, plus whatever shipping comes to - be prepared for some eye watering number man. Lot of dough for the sake of vanity, plus I'd suspect your theft risk would go through the roof with them. Each to their own

Or 4x100 to 5x120 adapters? Would probably be a heap cheaper to have them certed than a hub conversion? Faster too! Will also open your options to other jap spec 5.114.5 BBS rims too. Just a thought

Took me nearly three years to convince mine that converting the 325 to manual really is a good idea. Patience, grasshopper

And a hammer fixes the rest!

I'd have the Z partly on the basis that E46 M3s are possibly the most common of all the M cars in NZ. To hell with what anyone else thinks when you pull up to the lights, plus from my meagre investigations they appear to be a repackaged CSL anyway. In all seriousness, who buys an M for practicality? It's all about the grin factor man. Neither car really spin my wheels for looks, but I guess it depends on whether you're buying the car based on performance or styling. In the meantime I'll stick with my (almost) bulletproof 325i Cheap, but still fun!

Your touring looks tits Justin, have been struck with a massive case of wagon envy!!

Mmmmmmm, Boston Acoustics! -
Bit of a long shot, but have you had a good look at your earthing points? Had a similar issue with a Toyota a few years back that turned out to be a bad earth from the - post

Lol, as if the High Society types at claytons & mcmillian would associate themselves with a forum such as this.... what would the neighbours think??!! In all seriousness Tom, your experience with post-sale relations is not the first I've heard. A former employer of mine bought a new 3 & 5 series every two years from the early 90s up to not that long ago and every time he did would swear black and blue he'd never go back. Ultimately for him the tax writeoffs were too much to ignore but I suspect if he had another option he would have exercised it. In your case, I shudder to think how many tens of thousands of dollars you've contributed to their annual turnover. For the profit margins you will have generated their sales team I'd have thought a poxy little $800 drivers day would have been the least they could do to demonstrate a little appreciation. Perhaps I'm a little too old fashioned in my expectations when it comes to customer service, but there you go. And Jeff, yes you are a lucky bastrd. But it's nice to see the universe gives back sometimes
