So i guess these don't jam speed cameras but what about the lasers in the cop cars. They must be a lot better and harder to jam than hand hold lasers.
-
Yes i realise this and will go off pics I have seen on the web to make mine as close to original as possible. I've read that some people just suffer from poor running only some of the time when the reference tab breaks off as the sensor can still sense where the tab must have been or because of the hole there. Its easy to see exactly where it should go and im willing to try it. If it works, I'll pull the flywheel back off and get it lightened, machined and balanced while im at it.
-
Thanks, I'll make up and weld on a new one and see how we go.
-
Looks like the timing reference tab has broken off my flywheel and smashed the crank sensor to bits in the process. I havnt pulled the box out yet, just that front lower bellhousing plate and it looks like the tab has been disintegrated as i cant see it sitting there. Theres just a whole lot of shredded crap from the tab and sensor. I painstakingly rotated the motor only to find a small hole where I assume the tab is supposed to be?? Im in the market for a new flywheel but also wanting to consider the option of getting a new tab welded onto my flywheel. How do i go about doing this? Is the tab magnetic?
-
I'm in need of one of the bellhousing mounted crank sensors found on pre facelift 325i e30's. Also after a flywheel from the same car (must have the timing reference pin/tab around the outside).

All non m3 racks are pretty much the same with the 3.2 ratio. If you can do without power steer, mods to the rack (incl. cutting extra teeth), rack spacers and machined down tie rods (as seen in bottom pic of link above) will give you plenty of lock without messing with the knuckles/geometry.
-
You would want to use an e36 rack for starters (3.2 turns lock to lock vs 4 ifor an e30). I had a good look and couldnt find any kind of an off the shelf rack spacer so had to make my own by having the i.d of a 27mm washer taken out to 18mm. I had to use two 3mm washers each side and thats the most you can go as the rack is limited in movement after that (unless you pull it apart and remove the power steering components).

Was really after the mount and the bush to make it easy to swap into my car. Could be interested in all the bushes though. How old are they? Show any signs of wear?
-
How much for both front and rear badges (new or old rear)? Also how much for the lollipops? Are they OEM rubber m3 offset bushes?

You should really look at trying to blow thru the maf as off throttle your bov will be opening allowing the s/c to continuously draw air through the maf. Does it seem to run really rich when the bov is open/backing off throttle? Also with that s/c on a s50, you would need to have a larger crank pulley than that on the s/c to overdrive it. By my rough calcs, it will need to be overdriven by 1.5times to get 5psi.

Steering rack replacement - HELP!
slideways replied to huff3r's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Having recently done the same thing, the steering joint can be a bit stubborn but you should be able to get it off with multiple wacks with a big screwdriver (or maybe something similar that wont damage the alloy) and a big hammer. You need to bend down the tabs the rack is mounted on to get it out then bend them back up once the new rack is in. -
"gets the thumbs up every where you park it" I bet, and I would give him the thumbs up too but like everyone else, id be taking the piss.

Oven degreaser stuff. Works a treat.

Very nice and tidy! Same colour as my one. As well as going back to a crome grill, that aerial needs to go.
-
Just curious and a little off topic but i picked up a e36 rack the other day and wanting to know how you hooked up the lines to your rack? Did you use the e30 ones and bend to fit?
-
Mine came today and they look good but a bit gutted that one of the surrounds was broken and the piece missing from the package.
-
Looks like it's 'Lachssilber'. Got one the same with the same pinstripe too.
-
Have any pics?? and where abouts are you?
-
Ok maybe its you cant use the hydraulic handbrake when you use the brakes...does that sound right?? Is there no way of mounting a second set of calipers in an e30? I just see another pair of calipers the ultimate way of doing it but the cost wouldnt really be worth it over just running it inline.
-
Running an extra new pair of calipers is the best because if you run the handbrake inline, you aren't able to use your normal brakes/front brakes when you pull your hydraulic handbrake.
-
Yeah the sooner the better. Everyone on here would have seen this by then. Oh and Pulse, you seem to have mixed up my address... you have put Hamilton instead of Wellington.

I suggest you take payment as soon as you can as expecting people to pay in the last 5 days will probably end in only half the orders being paid for.

As discussed in PM a month or so ago, you know im 100% in on a pair when you next decide to do them. No, they technically aren't legal but made to look pretty much the same and I doubt you would run into many problems with cops picking them out and giving you a hard time for it. -
Mine can come off very easily too. Its a worry and how mine was lost. When I get my new set, I'll look at somehow making them lock or stay on better.
-
Gutted to hear that man. I have found a set and will have some left over so if i decide to sell the spare ones off, Ill let you know.
