  1. Well I know the guy quite well and he was pretty disappointed about it. Going off the extensive and detailed ad you wrote, he thought he was buying a much nicer rust free car. I guess he didn’t see much point in going back to you as the deal was already done and he had the car. I’ve been into E30’s for well over 20 years so he asked for my input, and I was shown the ad on TradeMe. It presented the car as a really nice example with no mention of rust at all. I told the buyer to go for it based off the pictures and the description you provided. Once I eventually ended up seeing the car though, I couldn’t believe it was the same one in the ad. No need to even get under it to see the corrosion with actual holes and bubbles around the place. One thing I know the buyer had been really excited about and was a must have for him, was that you mentioned it had a sunroof. It turned out, it was all rusty and sealed shut with some kind of sealant and there was a massive rust bubble in the roof you couldn’t miss, all never mentioned by you. I would have expected an enthusiast to have been more up front and disclosed all this. Saying all E30’s have rust after the fact isn’t good enough. You blatantly misrepresented the car by choosing not to mention any of the serious corrosion issues it had. The buyer is now having to spend a large percentage of the purchase price having it fixed. Good luck to the poor bugger who you manage to flog this S85 off to.
  2. I'd be very wary trusting anything that seller of the engine says. I know of an E30 he sold earlier in the year that had no mention of rust but turned out to be absolutely riddled with it. There was no chance the seller couldn't have been aware of it either. We are talking multiple holes around the place. Seemed to have a dodgy WOF put on it and flicked off to an unsuspecting out of town buyer sadly. That motor sitting outside in the mud at PaP for 2 weeks wouldn't have been good for it but there must have been a reason it was there in the first place when it wasn't crashed. You would think he would have done a leak down test on it. He probably did but would have got some bad news so didn't want to post those results.

    RUC for all

I think this will be great. I still use my fair share of petrol but for the past 3 years, none of it has been through anything on the road. As long as we have the option to still buy RUCs and display like we currently do. No way I want to have some obtrusive GPS system hacked into my cars wring, especially my mint original Mtech1 E30. I hear there are non powered options out there though? A lot of people are negative thinking that they will just add tax back into the fuel later but that isn't done with diesel currently and its still much cheaper than petrol so...
  4. EGR's are nasty things. I recently purchased a 123d and when I pulled the intake manifold, it was choked up by 50%. While I was in there, I blanked the EGR at both ends so it was sealed off even though it had been turned off in a tune. I suggest you get it turned off and a stage one tune done at the same time. Hit up @promo, he is your best bet in Wellington.
  5. To get the correct bias and pedal feel but yeah just wondering if its worth it and if others have done the same. It seems the master's could have either been 23/22 or 25/22mm as real oem shows multiple part numbers that can cross refeerence up to 135i's or down to 116i's etc. 130i's could have got either and mine happens to be the 23/22mm. I will code them as soon as I'm set up to do it.
  6. Anyone here retrofitted the 135i brakes on and needed to change the master cylinder? I have just fitted the 135i brakes to my E81 and noticed the stock master is only a 23/22mm when the 135i uses a 25/22mm. Also, is it really necessary to code in the brakes? What does it do exactly. I assume just changes settings for the DSC? I haven't got around to the whole coding side of things but want to get in to it.
  7. Yes that's them! If i was more local I'm sure i would be able to sort something out but i doubt i could make it work being so far away.
  8. Do you happen to have a link or remember what they were listed under? I have been looking on TM but havent seen anything on there.
  9. Im after a set of style 216 wheels. I will consider anything and anywhere in the country. Must be some hiding away somewhere. Cheers
  10. I took a shell to the scrappys on the back of the Tech1. Moved flats a few times too with it a few years ago now. If there wasn't a huge hole in the rear apron, id remove it but do like the idea of my car not being written off so easily if i ever get rear ended.
  11. Id be pulling out the clutch fan and putting in an electric fan. A fan switch from an E36 compact will have the right temperature on and off settings and should bolt in to those free port on the radiator end tank.
  12. Its basically to free the pins up. I used a reamer the same size as the pin. its just to remove the material of the bush down to how it should be as it swells up over time.
  13. Just pull the detent pins and ream the bushes out. This is what Kayne Barrie told me he did. I've done it on two S5D 310z's now and worked well.
  14. After a set of 16x7 style 5 wheels but will consider individual wheels in any condition with caps or not. These came on E39's only. I will also consider the 16x8 version off E38's or even the 15x7 E34 ones if cheap enough. Let me know what you have.

    E30

My one I offered you ticks all those boxes but with what you want to spend, you'd need to be looking at 4 door sedans only. Does it have to be a coupe?
  16. Yes they are interchangeable. I have some Koni adjustables from an E30 series car that I am willing to part with. These are adjustable at the top and in the car as opposed to the proper E30 Konis that require you to remove from the car to adjust.
  17. Yip that was mine. It was a really clean car underneath but jeez I didn't think it was worth what he's asking for it now. Needed a lot of paint work to bring it up to being a minter.
  18. Definitely has all the signs of being a 85 car like no side indicators and the old engine to body loom adaptor etc but when you look at the rear guards and lights, they are Facelift. Looks like a FL shell has had near everything swapped in to it from the 85 car. Or they really have put the lower rear PFL guards and lights section on to the old car which seems unlikely. Id easily be able to tell what's up if i had the car in front of me.
  19. Here's the old posts. Looks as if its been sitting on TradeMe for over four years now. Crazy. 1987 M3 E30 Evolution1 NZ new! - TradeMe discussions - bimmersport.co.nz Anyone seen this beauty - RHD E30 M3 - TradeMe discussions - bimmersport.co.nz If I was to one day get an M3, I wouldn't mind it being RHD as it would make it so much better to drive on our roads. I've been stuck many times behind imported LHD Camaros & Mustangs etc who cant pass the truck or campervan in front of them on the open road. They just have to sit there at 80kph while Nissan Micras pass them both. Then again, if I was to spot a RHD M3 driving past, my first thought would be "is that a 318i with a fiberglass kit?"
  20. Your car will be awesome once the M42 is in there. Will perform as good, if not better than a 325i. I have an early E36 non EWS DME if you need one. Also, have a copied Turner/Mark D chip to suit too.
  21. Correct. Seemed to be the next best option for me when finding good condition E30 sport seats is next to impossible.
  22. Thanks Richard. At the end of the day I realised I wasn't going to do what I wanted with it which was a 318is replica so thought best to move it on. Having it sit on the side of the road under trees was taking is toll on it. I hadn't done too much to it, just the seats, LSD and a taco cluster. Wanted to tidy up the bits where the paint was rough but thought it wasn't worth my time and money involved to do that. I may regret selling it one day just like the last coupe I sold. A basic spec M42 E30 coupe has always been a dream of mine.
  23. Its not too tidy, needs paint work in places but the body was solid. Also, it is just a 316i at the end of the day. I thought it was a fair price and I'm happy with it.
  24. This was mine. Sold in 15 minutes of listing it. The guy is flying down today from yes, you've guessed it, Auckland. Maybe I sold it too cheap. Factory manual, new clutch, Fresh LSD, full black leather and flew through a VTNZ wof the day before.
