  1. Great progress. Regarding e85; what I was meaning was if you are going to all the hassle of swapping the whole driveline, converting to e85 is not much more work or cost and gets you cheap horsepower.
  2. For e46 I did alot of research and for a fast road car I settled on this; Front; Max camber, zero toe, max castor. Rear; -2 camber rear total (-1 each side), really small amount of toe in. I found this made a good improvement. Also, I can recommend Autolign in Mt Wellington. Edited to say, remove the locating pins on top of the strut tower with a pair of pliers or vicegrips. This give you more camber adjustability.
  3. What alignment specs are you going for? The stock bmw ones are not very good.
  4. Crunchy brings up a good point - what are your ecu plans? If going aftermarket, you might want to consider e85 compatibility.
  5. The restrictions and regulations are not nearly as aggressive as in Europe.
  6. Yes, I'm aware of that.
  7. I understand that the exhaust manifolds on the m62 are the bottleneck (happy to be corrected if wrong), so I imagine they could also be the bottleneck on the m73.
  8. I would also be interested in what you will do about exhaust manifolds. I have even contemplated taking a grinder to my inner guards and fabricating new ones to allow a better fit of a better exhaust.
  9. How much hp are you shooting for?
  10. Which ones do you find best of the three?
  11. Agree with Kayne on this as I had the same exact discussion when I was looking at using a 330d rear end. What did the dry sump cost you? I cant see prices on their website.
  12. So only slightly better than my Craftsman ones
  13. What brand torx sockets do you use glenn?
  14. You are doing it right. I'm putting a m62b44 in my e46, and also using the e46 m3 rear end. The m3 diff is near bulletproof so perfect for high torque engines. You may want to consider changing the ratio - I changed mine from 3.64 to 3.23. If you do, or just want advice on diffs I can highly recommend talking to Kayne Barrie. I presume you will use the m3 front brakes as well? From everyone I have spoken to the m3 brakes will be sufficient for these higher powered applications. Any reason you are going auto box and not manual?
  15. Best to take it to a bmw specialist to get it scanned. Otherwise you will just be throwing money at it. Maybe some of the Wellington crew can recommend a workshop with good scanning equipment and knowledgeable operators. This will save you alot of money in the long term.
  16. Awesome build. What rear end setup are you going to use to handle the extra torque?
  17. Have you checked for vacuum leaks? They are common on this motor
  18. Have you tried talking to Kayne Barrie Motorsport?
  19. The american cars have come a long way in the handling stakes in the last few years.
  20. Please hand in your man card to the admin team at reception.
  21. This is the best thread on bimmersport.
  22. I agree Glenn. I got to drive a modern 1 series bmw and it felt like a cheap Japanese car. The electric steering is horrible (also horrible on my brothers Audi). I can see why people say the e46 was the last of the good beemers.
  23. I got to drive it and to be honest it didn't do it for me. It is a good looking car in great condition, and the black leather interior is very nice. However it feels lifeless to drive. Front wheel drive and gutless. Nice car but it feels like it has no soul. My e46 daily is so much more fun to drive.
  24. Was it overheated? Can it be driven if you stop every 5 minutes to fill up the water?
