  1. You will need to replace all four. While you are in there check the diff bushes and the trailing arms too. Maybe someone who is familiar with the e39 could chime in with the usual wear items and things to look for on the e39 rear axle. I've only worked on e36 and e46 suspension.
  2. What is the problem you are experiencing?
  3. If its standard bushes then the big bolt, washers and nut method works along with some soapy water. If its poly bushes then you can just press them in with your fingers.
  4. I have used two different methods without having to buy a bushing tool. One is to drill into the rubber with a smallish drill bit multiple times until the centre of the bushing can be removed, and then use a jigsaw to cut into the side of the bushing. A bit of mucking around but it works. Some use fire instead of drilling but I didn't have much luck with that. The other method I have used is a makeshift bushing tool consisting of a big nut and bolt and big washers. I've done all the bushings on an e36 and an e46, and both times the drilling method was the easiest for the subframe.
  5. Awesome. What did you use to clean the diff cover, or did you paint it? I've spent hours and hours polishing mine and its just not coming up good enough.
  6. What do they spray on the track?
  7. Have those intake ports been ported and polished or are they stock?
  8. Yes, that will identify if the disa was the source of the noise. But as others have said, the disa needs replacing anyway.
  9. Can you start the car with your hand over the hole where the disa was to see if you still get the noise?
  10. Thats impressive. I'm all for doing something unique.
  11. Curious as to what you think of the underdrive pullies, and whether you can notice the difference.
  12. The downside with the m30b35 is its very expensive to increase the horse power and torque to that of the m62b44. If you are going stock m30b35 then that is a moot point.

    Top Gear season 24

It was okay, but its still not a touch on the grand tour or top gear with clarkson, hammond and may. Much better with chris evans gone though.

I would like to do this on my e46 project. Do you know if our plastic fuel tanks are compatible with e85? I will change the lines of course, but wondered if there is anything else that will need changing? Will my fuel pump and fuel filter be okay?
  16. Ahhh, thanks brent, that makes sense. And your mates car is m52?
  17. Why did you decide to epoxy instead of weld? Wouldn't welding be stronger?
  18. So the supercharger only added 20kw between the two motors? And both engines are m54b30?

  22. Funny, I always imagined you being much shorter than that.....
  23. Nice one Crunchy. What kind of power does that setup give you. Even better can you post up a dyno sheet?
