You do know about m tax right? s50s aren't a cheap engine either. I think the s50b32 on Trademe is about $8k including a gearbox.

Not sure, should be easier to tell when there's less rattling from the gearbox. Yes actually, managed to find a local one, problem is it's in a mates car, so I found him the correct gearbox for his car and in return I get his gearbox (which since it's in a car I could test beforehand), everyone wins.

Washed it, new spark plugs and did my first valve adjustment. Sounds much nicer, apart from the gearbox, though Dad and I suspect there might be a dodgy bearing in the engine :/

You've seen it now Though I suspect I might be needing a new/fixed gearbox, since as well as not going into 5th it makes some nasty noises under load. Time to start trawling and ring Kayne Barrie...
