IMO they're really not that much of an issue. If it's on it's way out just buy a single mass or stump up the cash for a new DM

Swapped out the gearbox, front sway bar links, intake filter, rubber shift boot, rocker cover breather hose and intake elbow. Next weekend is a proper clean, oil change and maybe installing the LSD.

@gtstarped, @BM WORLD? Or just buy some 16" wheels and tyres.

How come you're parting it?

I'm not sure Motronic cars (particularly early ones, like this is likely to be) record many useful fault calls, I could be wrong though?

I'll see if I can find mine this weekend

Time for a group buy?

I might have one. How much were you thinking of spending?

Does this apply to all cars, say the factory bilsteins in my M535i? Also what do you for an E28 where konis are NLA?

I'm pleased my guess was correct, otherwise lots of furious googling would have ensued. I do know an engine that would fit the bill though...
-
Don't tempt me I'd need to check the weight of the engine (vs an m30) and the complexity of the swap first, but I know it's been done... Sadly not a manual, but I've got a getrag 265 just begging for a V8 bellhousing

Changed out the intake filter, intake boot, valve cover to TB hose and rubber shifter boot. More to come this weekend

I've isolated the source of my disappointment. The rear (aftermarket) muffler on my 525e is, positively depressing. It sounds terrible, doesn't fit perfectly enough for me, rattles and looks less than ideal. This needs fixing. I've taken it off, and it sounds amazing without a rear muffler. However it has the occasional nasty vibration and is according to my phone, too loud. But man it sounds good (even for a lowly eta). So I'd like something that retains the character of a straight pipe, but lowers the volume and returns the touch of class a classic BMW should have. And some nice tips wouldn't go amiss either (got a swanky hartge dual to oval tip I'd like to try). I'm happy to buy individual parts and design/weld/asssemble any pipe work.

Unfortunately how much you spend doesn't correlate with how much the car is worth. It's a sad fact of a owning any car, particularly a BMW. E.g. If I bought $1500 worth of tyres for my e28, it's not going to be worth $1500 more, maybe $500. Same goes for other maintenance items, you can't really pass the cost of oil changes onto the next seller (however you could claim it's well maintained and charge more).

I'm not sure sorry, it's not something I've looked into.

Planning on driving through some heavy snow?

Part out. More seriously, I'm fairly certain they all crack so replacing it with a 2nd hand one won't be that viable. You could drill and fill the cracks, can look good if done well. Though my favourite option would be leather wrapping the dash, I haven't investigated this option in NZ yet though. Have you got any pictures of your car?

Arguably a better solution to use a bolt then. had a thought, why not epoxy?
-
Don't forget you'll need to weld a mount onto the trans tunnel to support the end of the shift linkage

Everyone start badmouthing Wellington to keep house prices down

Look at the reaction to those questions and you'll get your answer

An m42/m44 swap should also be fairly straight forward though, right? Also don't forget the 320is

Those that have met me in person could confirm that I am in fact the waif and not using child labour lol

Hahaha, was too busy figuring it out and not swearing, so I forgot sorry. It was pretty straight forward. Remove seats Remove sound deadening Draw circle Cut circle out Climb into newly cut hole without eviscerating yourself Open boot
