I think of the R129 SL as a Gran Tourer. Yes, it's seats are more occasional than in the 850i. I'd not choose the R129 solely for the extra horsepower. The 850i is wicked cool, though in my 'fantasy garage' I'd take this particular SL over the 850. As long as I already had a couple of M5's...

me too - there's just something about the R129 with V12 in it. I'd be in the SL600!

Over the weekend, Wellymeet hit the Shannon Car Show. Interesting to find two contemporaries - TITANS of the 90's, really - in the same spot. Which would you choose? The e31 850i, or the R129 SL600? Here's the link to Harry's Garage R129 SL600 review So, which would you take? Discuss.

looking pretty tidy, Charl!

welcome to the forum, Ian. love to see some images of your e39. My brother had an '02 530i motorsport from new, it was a beaut car. Fond memories. Got much space in Arrowtown for parking? There could be a road trip contingient to visit our more southern members!? You should fnd plenty of assistance round here, a good number have had - or still run - e39s, and many of the Msport variety. again, Welcome!

great news, Paul! you might bring this one to Ngawi?
-
you know how this goes. "pics or it didn't happen". Project thread - now!
-
no mate, but sounds like I should!
-
Ordinarily and on face value you'd be right. However, in another thread Charl has said he may have to sell this one.
-
thanks for that; I stand corrected! very interesting reading.

jeepers, I trust your wife is uninjured. ideal repower opportunity for my 325i, I guess. What are you seeking as a replacement, Brent? e90 Touring?
-
have you had a word with Jono at Auto 38? He should have an idea of where to source one (or may already have one), and price to install. I reckon that kind of money - plus clutch and flywheel and fitting - is worth more than your car. And you'd not get your money back on selling. Is it worth it? cheers Olaf

yep, a nice blue... Le Mans blue possibly? lots of white decals on the rear of the front guards in front of the doors, rays wheels. pretty schmick.

I ran into a BMW-head in the carpark at Repco in Wellington. Ryan (I think that was his name) was spannering on his very tricked-out e92 M3 with supercharger and Rays wheels. He'd been installing a very cool carbon fibre intake. I told him about Bimmersport, you never know he might join us some time.

I got up early today and: got a four wheel alignment at Bridgestone Torrens Tce. much better! changed oil and filter on the e46 at 175936kms (Mann filter, new crush washer and o-rings, 6.5l of Penrite HPR5 5W40 synthetic) washed exterior (Caltex no-touch carwash), rain-x'd the windscreen vacuumed and cleaned the interior I can't access my street frontage due to road works, so resorted to the no-touch car wash to get some of the filth off of my car. ... and I scored another 20 litre drum of Penrite HPR5. $165 incl GST this weekend (Repco 20% sale) that's $8.25 per litre!

Gorse Pocket Syndrome - loving it!

you're not sure it has a motor or box?
-
come on Mr Asia, you'll be fine. Your horoscope may suggest you avoid quarries, though.
-
Result! You getting it in before Sunday? Or need a ride instead? Can drop you home afterwards.

good on yer! is it a main or a big end? any news on a gearbox?
-
2. Have you contacted specialist BMW wreckers e.g. Brent at BM World or Ray at HellBM? To see if you can get good used parts? 1. More importantly, have you correctly diagnosed that your current cats are well and truly beyond saving? 3. Have you investigated what OEM/aftermarket/performance options are available? In NZ from one of our forum sponsors, or from abroad?

yeah, Toluene's good for us all! Second helping please! (Toluene is a carcinogen). Always a top idea to eliminate the factory systems that catalyse harmful gasses into inert ones, gives one equal opportunity to poison your neighbours/family/friends/without them knowing it. Win! Please, take the road less travelled. Keep your catalytic converters intact - find a solution. Rather disturbingly, I'd be less disturbed if you were discussing disembowling cats, though of course that would still disturb me.

there is an exception to that story, Dave. Professional leather restoration by practicioners like European Leather Care in Wellington. Important thing is that after restoration, leather is maintained. Denim (our commonly worn jeans) are hell for leather, protection and cleaning and re-nourishing is needed. http://europeanleathercare.co.nz/dt_portfolio/classic-bmw-635-csi-restored/
