  1. I was thinking about buying a vinyl cutter on TM, but figured i) I'm not a signwriter, and, ii)I have unfinished projects already so having such a device taking up shelf space doesn't work for me. Sorry, can't help! PS: how'd you go with finding suitable rubber?
  2. Hi Hayden, I can't help much with the specific tech details... though interested to understand why you'd be thinking the M54B30 would be any less suitable than the M50B28? Which trans are you thinking of running? Can you give us a clue on what you're thinking? cheers
  3. I reckon a discrete laser-cut decal on your rear window would be the go. "/// former driveway sculpture" in an appropriately BMW font
  4. great news! amidst all the important jobs you have on the go, do make sure you have rego (part of WoF check, I think), and your Insurance sorted. Your parental units will be very pleased to see one of your driveway sculptures mobile, and proud of you for seeing this through and getting it mobile.
  5. it's The Cult, man. Electric. Think "Love Removal Machine" in a pocket-sized 2 door.
  6. and we'd be suffering, driving this car. with that fooking handle on the boot. The team that sold it to you were telling you it was bangin'. Your mates liked it. But you thought it was pants.
  7. I guess there'd also be the following in our glovebox: - David + David: Boomtown. - Oasis: (What's the story) Morning Glory - Massive Attack: (vs Mad Professor) No Protection - The The: Dusk and of course - Nine Inch Nails: the downward spiral. There might be a peppering of Fiona Apple (Tidal), Tori Amos (under the pink), or even some Supergroove.
  8. rear seat space is best described as "occasional". you'd not be getting willing participants to ride in the back, to Taupo. OTOH, children under the age of (say) 7 or 8 shouldn't complain too much if it was for family use. Thought of the 123D? I recently drove a 123D Sport coupe, and was stunned.
  9. looking good, Kyu. I guess if you'd mailed this pack, it'd be a parallelogram. #; )
  10. errrr... I guess so, then.
  11. you need to trawl the shop at Trash Palace. I almost always tape my own, apart from when I pick em up from recycling centres #; )
  12. I think it's quite likely that Mulder and Scully have opened an X-File on this one.
  13. I wonder if the seller's including a glovebox full of authentic (and representative) cassettes from the period: - Radiohead: The Bends - Collective Soul - 4 Non Blondes - Blur: The Great Escape - Black Grape: It's great when you're straight... yeah - The Presidents of the United States of America - Paul Weller: Stanley Road - Jah Wobble: Take me to God - The Chemical Brothers: exit planet dust - Underworld: dubnobsasswithmyheadman - Offspring: Smash - Fun Lovin' Criminals - Come find yourself It really should be compulsory!
  14. Hit with the ugly stick! have you ever seen a worse shopping trolley handle, ever? On a Z3? It's interesting; US built (Spartanburg plant), ex-Japan, LHD, metric gauges. Looks pretty tidy, to be fair. 80k kms. Did I mention the interior? An interesting blend (clash) of faux-walnut and plum leather. It was the 90's, after all. The Foo Fighters had just dropped their debut album the year before, we were wrapped in Britpop and Cool Britain, you could press your nose against the glass of the McLaren showroom in West London and marvel at the F1. Bill Clinton had been re-elected and there was an air of positivity in the US Economy; a whitehouse intern oddly elected not to dry-clean her dress. The e39 debuted in UK, seems light-years ahead of the five it replaces. Plaid shirts were in. Cigars were smoked in bars throughout North America. And this Z3 exited the Spartanburg assembly line, exactly 5 years before planes hit the twin towers in NYC. This really needs rescuing to make into a track car, really. with an S52 or something. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1234808191.htm
  15. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1230421566.htm "VIN no. WBS AKO 1080 2190706 -- number 424 of 505 built. No-expense-spared ownership of 23 privileged years, completely un-restored and un-molested and in near immaculate condition with a recently refreshed engine and almost all original paint -just a patina of careful use and a couple of carpark blemishes." If I win lotto, I'm buying this.
  16. awesome. great to see it moving forward, despite the distractions of a normal life! Looking forward to seeing pics.
  17. blimey, look at all that space! were you outside the M25 there? (I had an e30 Touring in London, though that was 16 years ago now).
  18. hi Hayden, and welcome along. Looks like a good project you have there. Plenty of info here around e36 and e46 compact conversions, in threads and contributors. keep an eye on the meetings room, you'll be very welcome to attend and join the rabble

    Small Collection

welcome, Ethan! quite an interesting - and cool - collection you have there.
  20. any updates on Monty, Gareth?
  21. the holy grail is of course an 80's Nakamich car deck. Their cassette decks were beautiful, great mechs, great sound. Rohan if you're going Dire Straits, best to stick to the 70's output!

aye. I'm doing 35kms (~40 mins) each way for work, and there's been around 5k of long trips this year. I think this will work okay to avoid any DPF issues.
