  1. @modz @Gaz and for install into an e30, is it the same? e46 inner, e36 outer? Many thanks in advance. I understand the need for rack spacers, steering shaft, and hoses. cheers Olaf

    Octane boosters

wow, it's 7.2c per km now?
  5. No not sarcastic. Just referring to the very original fitment approach. I meant you've got the skills to get it beautifully aligned, looking and sounding excellent. PS: I'll just take my foot out of my mouth now. ☺️
  6. wow. that's original! you've got the skills.
  7. woohoo! nice one Charlie, git er ready for e30 Mega Meet in April! Wow, power windows and rear headrests, lap of luxury. A recent alignment and all. Much to do to get it back on the road? Need some underbonnet shots - is it already M42'd? Edit: oh yes already M42'd - car used to be Nathan from Nelson, from this parish. Score!

Most of the play in my steering disappeared after we replaced steering guibo (and fasteners), inner and outer tie rods on each end. There remains a little play, though it's vastly diminished. I don't recall - have you replaced any of that lot? Still looking for that opportunity for you to drive it again - it's a world away from what you drove on Alexandra Rd! ?

    Back in the day

Jon, it's a 2-door Range Rover. It's suffered a Car Dealer's tart-up two-tone paint job, as was popular in the 80's. Glenn, I wonder if that 3.0Cs is still around? Nothing on CarJam for IW5960.

Brilliant! Sorting that exhaust leak is a great result. You must have reached the admirable 'nothing to do right now' point on your list. Other than just polish, drive, enjoy. ?
  13. definitely a good score. 225/40R18 front, 255/35R18 rear.
  14. They should be staggered, 8 and 8.5, in which case your tyres should be staggered as well. nice looking rim on your e91!
  15. NPD100? now you're just showing off! Can't wait for this to get to Welly. Great progress, good to see it's going well for you.

    Quick rant thread.

I found on my first stint, I missed wild unkept green. Mexico City had parks, mostly. I was stirred, after three years, flying over the waitemata into Auckland, with the olive, mustard, drabs and greys of the clay, and the greens. Later I found Europe a tonic... although I'd foregone our verdant green wild landscapes and earthstorms, in their place were four distinct seasons, soft greys in the landscapes, and a certain tranquility not present in Niu Zild. A great contrast. Returning to NZ three years later, again I was pleased to be home, though the culture shock took a good couple of years to recover from.
  18. A quick trip today at lunchtime. Prepped my Covid Tracer app, and hand sanitiser. Packed my work gloves, steel-capped boots, shackles and chains. The invite said whips were optional. Just as well, I didn't have them anyway. Hoped I wasn't taking a knife to a gunfight. We quickly discovered that - despite me trial-fitting other 10mm shackles to my 8mm chain in the store, my 10mm 1 tonne-rated shackles were too big. Super-Barry and bench grinder to the rescue, the the shackles were adjusted (just barely) to fit. Before long we had the M42 chained up.. M42B18 in bondage gear And before you could say 'where's the blindfold', the M42B18 was up on the hoist... And then securely pinned to the engine stand. We all breathed a sigh of relief when we’d completed that task. Many thanks to Barry, and to Aaron for laughing politely at my bad jokes ?
  19. Dave, I'm sorry you've interpreted my explanation as condescension, that was not my intent.
  20. Interesting. Ive had great success with cracking and scuffs in black leather seat bases using the kit indicated, without resorting to airbrushing. 2.5 years before re-application I'd call a success. YMMV.
  21. We share particularly different viewpoints at times. If you interpret that as an argument, seek help. And for the record, I'm not Jesus.
  22. More preparations... Yeah I know, I didn’t have lifting gear amongst my collection of tools. Last time I pulled an engine of my own, it was block-and-tackle over a gatepost archway and GST was 10%! ?
  23. Okay, but it still makes "way more sense"? As I'd still need to clean and condition a used seat from a wrecker or pick-a-part, in addition to my time spent gathering tools and driving to and from pick-a-part (or a wrecker) to un-bolt and pay for a seat base. And then I'd need to remove the scuffed one from my car, clean years of accumulated crap from beneath it, and install the one from pick-a-part (or a wrecker). In my world it makes way more sense to do less work and wipe on some leather toner with a sponge and save myself time, effort, and "probably" money. And as you rightly point out, I'll have the gear on the shelf that allows me to take care of things like leather steering wheels in a way that I can't with a surplus scuffed leather seat base. Of course, your mileage may vary.
  24. How much does one pay for a good condition black leather seat base for an e39 from a wrecker?
  25. Dave, go and do the reading, draw yourself a Venn diagram. Guns have no rifling. We have firearms laws - not gun laws. It's an important distinction. All guns are Firearms. All rifles are Firearms. Not all Firearms are guns. Handguns have a special distinction in New Zealand as they are (appropriately) very heavily controlled, and the privelige of ownership is extended to very few. There's a great deal of precision required around Firearms handling and use, and this is a *good thing*. You want precision, and safety. You wouldn't want eejits handling firearms without having taken the trouble to learn, be examined (and vetted) as to their capability to handle and use firearms safely and responsibly. Sadly, there are many with opinions (usually informed by One News or Stuff (or worse), who've not bothered to investigate or learn, or understand; and yet continue to advance ill-informed and irrational (and emotive) positions on Firearms in New Zealand. If we applied this thinking to other areas, the consequences are lessened. If a wowser doesn't get the difference between a Lager, an IPA, and an RTD, who cares? With Firearms, there's personal safety at stake. Imagine a repeated rant from a Prius-hugging greenie that all modified cars are bad, LVVTA should be abolished, and all non-standard cars should be crushed immediately cos they're unsafe and driven by lunatics. You'd hope to nudge these people in the direction of learning and understanding.
