You were in block heater territory with those temps. It’s cruel and unusual punishment to not park indoors in those temps. ?

It would fit one car, if it didn't have a bunch of stuff in it at the moment.

That must be BMW original. Compares with this one? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-brake-kit-front-and-rear-e53-34116756847ktfr EDIT: Using OE parts on FCP Euro, cost is $370 for the parts, and $300 for shipping! Plus GST+$50 transaction fee. That's close to your number I suppose.

Replaced inner front drivers door rubber seal. Old one was manky and the rubber was all torn up. New-to-me one is not manky and only ever slightly worn. Looks much better.

Bump. Make me offers. Wife is not impressed with the garage space these are taking up.

Using he logic it’d take me about 4 hours to do that job myself... the only reasonably priced item is the labour. Although I’d guess it’d be a lot faster for someone who’s done this more than once too. ?

Haha. Welcome to New Hampshire! I’ll be there next week for two weeks. This is where I grew up and I’ve now been away so long I’m kind of dreading the cold.

Fair enough. I don’t mind the Leaf as a daily. I drive the 530i infrequently and just enjoy it when I do. ? note that charging times are better than most people realise. It’s a full charge at home in 4-6 hours and a fast charge to 80% is 20-30 minutes.
-
That 23km/way commute can be even more economic in a Leaf. Even a gen1 with a relatively worn battery can easily do that commute for awhile yet and it’ll cost you wel under $10k for one of those. 80-90km range is not bad for a second car. We went from $100-$200/month on petrol to not noticing a change in our home electric bill. Also, get an app called Plugshare. I think if we’d realised you can fast charge for free in so many places, we’d have spent more on a newer Leaf. A 30kwh battery on a gen2 can get 150ish km and that might almost suit us as an only car.

I quite like Penrite, I use HPR5 for my engine. I might just go with them. I might check out BNT tomorrow if they have larger quantities than 1L though.

Before, or after abusing it?

Sorry, I even had this open and forgot to add to the post... I have a A5S 325Z/ZH 5HP19 on my car. EDIT: Reading the BMW fluid document, looks like this is a better bet: http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/Product/Penrite-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-FS-1-Litre/396371 Penrite ATF Full Synthetic (although the Semi-Synthetic also meets the spec) BMW Trans Oil Chart.pdf

Replacing transmission fluid on my 530i. I read all kinds of recommendations for the US, but what is good to use here? I'm a fan of SCA. Is this good enough? Castrol Auto Transmission Fluid - Dex III http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/Product/Castrol-Auto-Transmission-Fluid-Dex-III-4-Litre/309868

Hey, that's not something I'd thought of. Any suggestions on decal providers?

I have one. What exactly are you suggesting anyone should be worried about? Read my key all anyone likes...

Sweet. That is what I thought. Thank you.

I have had little exposure to IR keys. Is this true for the diamond BMW keys as well? Can the transponders from those be removed in the same way?
-
This is news to me you can remove the RFID from the original, is this true for all original keys, or just the IR keys?
-
What has anyone written on this thread that deducts credibility from the link you posted? Could you explain exactly what you mean when you say "Would not support a diamond key?" A Diamond key isn't some magical key. I can code a transponder chip on a diamond key for you right now, it would start your car just fine. Your IR > RF conversion relates purely to the remote control side of the key. The hangup seems to be that you want a key that charges from the ignition coil, like the original BMW diamond keys do. I honestly don't know if that would even work for you, I don't know if your car has that coil or not... This is an entirely moot issue though, unless you're going through all this effort to convert from IR to RF, to ask BMW to make you a key? If you just want the cheap aftermarket diamond keys to work, don't worry about charging via the ignition coil... EDIT: Check this out 2003 E39 Diamond Key Charging

Adding to this a bit further... them aftermarket keys have multi frequency remotes, so 315, or 433, it doesn't matter at all. And thinking about this further... I doubt you'd be able to buy an original Diamond/RF key for your car as your car didn't come with that feature equipped in the first place...
