E39 OEM 16:9 Headunit...Re-installation

If you haven't sorted by the time we do your keys, we can compare wiring. Mine works. -
No, your price for Supercheap is about right. It's about $175/20L when they have their sales, but even then, your price for Fuchs is near half that.
-
I've always used Penrite, but is Fuchs really all that? THat's a bit of a huge price difference.

Slight update here. We went to Thames this weekend. The house was nice, but needed a heck of a lot of renovations to make us happy... the town... let's just say my wife and I agree we're city people, and to whit, don't want to leave Stanmore Bay.

E39 OEM 16:9 Headunit...Re-installation

Have you checked all the fuses in the glovebox? Mine came with a weird setup and I had to plug fuses in. Also, nothing but static sounds like the antenna might be disconnected? If you got bad reception you have a lot more options for what could be wrong, but no reception should, in theory, be simpler... -
This is just the Valvoline equivalent of the Penrite offering. Both meet the same standards. Penrite is $175/20L from Repco right now.
-
That sounds off. That's the fluid we use for newer transmissions, and doesn't meet the old standard. For LT 71141 you can buy the full synthetic penrite https://www.penriteoil.com.au/products/atf-fs-full-syn which Supercheap also sells here: http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/Product/Penrite-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-Full-Synthetic-4-Litre/342304

There is no such thing as "lifetime" oils.

A5S310Z should be DEXRON 3/MERCON. See attached. This should do: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Castrol-Auto-Transmission-Fluid-Dex-III-4-Litre/309868 Or Penrite https://www.penriteoil.com.au/products/atf-dx-iii-mineral meets the spec too, and sold here: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Penrite-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-DX-III-4-Litre/342303 BMW Trans Oil Chart.pdf

Can't you just disable and physically remove the rear airbags here? In the US and other countries, we disable those when child seats are installed anyway...

What's the socially responsible thing for me to do with my old control arms, tensioners, pulleys, bushings, rubber seals, etc... ? Rubbish?
-
I wasn't thinking when I saw your original post, I'm sorry. You can actually plug your last 7 here: www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi And it'll tell you what your engine and transmission models are.

I don't know how I got these. I think they must have been on the rims I bought. They look barely used, with plenty of thread left and they too, take up space in my garage. One Neuton NT5000 One Dayton D30 $30 each? Reasonable offers take them.
-
I have one more to sell, then I'm all out.
-
Found it. 8Jx17 and a bit rough, but here you go. ET20
-
I happened to be at a Repco today, and with the sale discount, 20L comes out to ~$175NZD.
-
Every 540i I see reminds me of this thread: It's a nice car, but good luck to the seller at that price point...
