Last update here sadly - car sold very quickly and went to its new home today (neighbour of good friends of ours so may get to see it again in the future). Very confident it's going to a good home where it will be garaged as a weekend car. It was looking and sounding particularly good as it disappeared up the road and out of sight - a bittersweet moment for sure. Now, need to send some serious time and money to get the E30 to the same level, especially the interior!

Yup, certainly not a rational decision I know, hopefully my E30 will be at a similar standard in 6-12months.

@Kobra Checking how those LSeat covers are going 6 months later? Picked up an M325i with ripped up anthracite cloth sport seats and considering going black leather DIY vs paying moon beams for OEM cloth reupholstery...

As often is the case, my intent had been to keep her long term, and I had been spending accordingly, but it wasn't to be. Have owned just over 2 years. 2001 330ci / 160km / Orient Blue over Caramel Nappa Leather Car is excellent condition inside / outside / mechanically - it looks great in the photos and I can assure you it looks like this in the flesh as well. The car drives great, sounds lovely and looks fantastic. Has been rock solid - 99% of work done has been preventative / proactive with OE parts and all done in last two years (i.e. car is fresh as). I would say: E34 540i - 4 headlights, V8, cheap, say no more E87 130i - Cheap, good power, good reliability, who cares if it used to look a bit suss, Msport design has aged really well

Absolute stunner! houndstooth seats too. Reserve is sadly slightly over my ‘all-in’ budget though 😢
