  1. Nope, just a back up to open the door and start the car if needed - will look at that option.

    E46 330ci Manual

Didn't realise there was such a thing - only the surrounds? may have got a little excited when they arrived earlier than expected this morning...
  3. Thanks mate, yup not as fussed on back up being a remote one as it will just be an emergency key - will see if that makes it easier to sort
  4. I'm unfortunate enough to have the cursed E46 Infrared two button key (2001 Jap import) with the range of approximately four potatoes. I'm wanting to get a spare cut and programmed because its a sensible thing to do. Problem is both the locksmith guys I've spoken to who seem to work in this area (i.e. coding semi-modern keys) won't / can't do this key type... What are my options here in Auckland? Don't really want to spend $500(??) at BMW for a backup, $200 or so was the plan...

    E46 330ci Manual

Put some Euro Plates on today - a nice finishing touch IMO, although did have to drill and screw due to the raised mounting points on the rear. Some white head screws will look better. All going to plan will be installing new shocks springs this weekend with fresh mounts / reinforcement plates / bumpstops and CABs.
  6. Put some Euro plates on the 330ci, nice little finishing touch.
  7. I just get a litre from bunnings but looking on Trade Me you can get 1-4 litre lots as well. I recently got some Carpro Ech20 which I've been using as a rinseless wash. Half a bucket of water and 4 micor fibre towels so I'm not reusing dirty towels on the car and works well. Leaves a bit of gloss on the car too. Wouldn't use for a particularly dirty car but works great for a bit of road grime etc.
  8. I wondered when this may pop up here. Stunning car but given the Techno Violet(?) manual 540i msport eventually sold for mid teens, its quite a stretch...
  9. If you don't mind doing it yourself and if you're like me and actually enjoy the process, I don't see any real need for ceramic. Modern good sealants (spray or liquid) are extremely easy to apply and can last 3+ months, much longer if you're topping up or using SiO2 wash or spray wax regularly. My process now is to clay and light polish, IPA wipe down and apply sealant every 6 months, wash every week or two and use a topper (little more sealant or spray wax) every month. I use a bit of spray wax with Carnuba in it when drying too to help drying and put a little more gloss on it. Car looks amazing almost all the time, and I park on the street.
  10. Cheers mate. Gutting vs deleting = less potential WOF issues? A bit of extra volume and flow I would think too? Original plan was to just get a cheap straight through stainless muffler but this one came up and jumped on it. Videos online (for what those are worth) with the supersprint sound good, albeit a little quiet, hence thinking I'll need a little more done.
  11. Coming up on my E46 to-do list is the exhaust - M54B30 - all stock currently with the 'golf tee mod'. Dual pipes all the way I think. Goal is more volume and a great tone, especially at WOT / higher RPM. Little performance would be nice but not expecting much at all there. I impulse bought a Supersprint 'slip on' rear muffler on FB marketplace this weekend after a few wines, heard good things about their stuff for BMW. Will need to get that fitted obviously, but from there I'm expecting a few other tweaks needed to get the volume i'm after: Cat delete? Resonator delete? X-Pipe? Any recommendations for exhaust shops in Auckland? The best approach I guess is get the muffler on and listen to it and talk to them about my goals?
  12. SMG Verts are the least valuable E46 M3s in the US.

    E46 M3

Do you need a special blinker fluid to run these?

    Airbag recall

FYI my E46 (2001) has had both front airbags replaced at BMW this year but did not appear in any online checks. I contacted the dealership to be safe and they took care of it. Would recommend talking to them to be safe.
  15. Looks tidy, seat bolsters would clean up easy as. These recent listings are making @bradgalbraith car look like a steal.
  16. Interesting, seller has been on Trade Me for 10 years, only one transaction and was negative ?
  17. Wouldn't ever buy a new-new car. But bought my middle aged BMW as wanted something a little old school but daily-able to get out of the old 'upgrade every few years' cycle. Wife's car can play that role.
  18. My suspension saga continues: March - ordered shocks and springs from Demontweeks Early June - Demontweeks accepts package was lost and refunds Early June - Order same product locally from Speedfactor (did need to be ordered in via air freight) Yesterday - Advised by Speedfactor has not even been shipped from Germany yet as the spring powder coater is broken ? It appears the Gods do not want me to lower my BMW before Xmas
  19. This popped up on my youtube feed yesterday too - dude is hammering his mates car ?

    Eurosurgeon

I would be surprised if there isn't something far better and cheaper Android based for the E60. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20200706140619&SearchText=e60+android+bmw Have a 7.5" touchscreen android in my E46 that looks factory and gives me touchscreen / steering wheel control / canbus integration and Android Auto etc. Came with a plug and play harness - literally a couple of screws and 2 plugs and done. With an $80 dongle can have wireless carplay on it.
  21. Yeah, to be honest, if I was in the market for a relatively rare car and had a bit of coin, I would over-pay for the colour I wanted.
