After I installed an intake on my 330ci, I did a bit of IAT tracking via an OBD2 app out of interest. I realised how badly heatsoak appears to affect the IAT readings when in traffic, or even just after the car has been at temp for a while. I feel like acceleration is more laboured when this happens but could be placebo - do high intake temps pull timing? I would often see readings of 55-60c at an ambient temp of 15c... so much for a 'cold air intake' doing anything. The IAT in the PFL E46 M54 is buried in the intake apparently making it very susceptible to heatsoak - was in the MAF in later E46's. Any point in trying to relocate somewhere cooler or am I just wasting time on a non issue on a slow car?

Interesting - my M54 is positively guzzling oil (about a litre per 1000km) since I switched to Edge 5w30 (not sure what was in prior but I don't remember it using much) already planning to go HPR5 when I change it in the next few weeks , so good to hear - hope it helps.

Looked pretty normal height, maybe a little high - just a lowish bumper I think.

Yeah, this was $16k but another $5k would've got an S5. Would be better with the V8 for sure

She fell victim to a kerb attack ?

Nice colour combo! I'm also a Sam from Whangarei, but been in Auckland 20 years haha

Yeah, it's bulky, but nice lines. I heard the 2 litre turbos burn a shed load of oil and as wasn't planning on a remap, V6 sounded better, more power and reliability. I'm sure the wheels will be curbed in the next month ?

Picked up this last weekend - wife's new car which will also become our 'main' car for road trips etc. After initially looking at MK6 GTIs she saw an A5 and was sold, not wanting a 'Mom car' hatchback as we have no kids. So picked up a Black A5 3.2 V6 Quattro S-Line (I couldn't sway her to a Bimmer) Very good looking car IMO, love the Quattro and moves better than I thought it would with the V6 and tiptronic (not a light car, obviously) - hustles along nicely and sounds good with 265hp. Pretty decent GT / Cruiser. The interior is really nice, especially with the super comfy yet supportive S-line seats in black leather / dark grey alcantara. loads of tech compared to my E46 of course - Audi drive select / MMI 3G / Bang and Olufsen sound, parking sensors etc. Wheels are 19" OEM S5 painted in a dark gloss metallic anthracite / bronze - not really my cup of tea, but looks good. Low speed ride is a bit jiggly though, maybe due to 255/35's all-round / sports suspension. Already found an oil leak and got a CEL for O2 sensor which dealer will be sorting - haha - Euro life. No plans to mod as its not really mine but will be doing a few minor bits: Polish and wax / sealant Wireless carplay box which works with the MMI system Audi Euro Plate 'RS5' style mesh grille Chrome delete of the window surround It needs some more aggressive offset wheels to fill the arches but doubt will change

Yowza! Congratulations, what a beauty!

Great colour combo for a 5 series IMO. Love that caramel leather!

The seatbelt chime... drives me batty

I think mileage will scare off enough people to impact value a bit - $25K maybe? What kind of 911? a 997 manual would be an attainable dream car for me, except not really attainable haha Maybe a 987 Cayman

Car Play / Android Auto installed in F15 X5
Sammo replied to hugo_nz's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
I have an Android unit in my E46 I use for Android Auto - works great. Will likely switch to IPhone 12 in a few months and will run wireless carplay on it. Anyone using wireless carplay through these 3rd party units? Will also be installing one in my wifes new car shortly. -
If its to your taste, pretty damn special car for $35K
-
Its not possible due to the hoses for the indicator fluid reservoir unfortunately.

Amazing collection!

Fabulous car, but yeah, I imagine you could build quite a special E30 for $60K - S54 etc etc. It wouldn't be an Alpina, but neither is this. Love it though and good on him, hope he gets what he's after.

After experiencing a Covid related 3 month delay on receiving Suspension from the UK earlier this year I ordered some ST-XA Coilovers from Demontweeks, being under the impression they had an order on its way within two weeks. Just got the email notification - stock isn't expected to arrive in the UK until 25th of October ? Better be worth the bloody wait!

325i E91 - Lowering Advice Please
Sammo replied to Skid Mark's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
@TheManBearPig Sportlines are supposed to be very low? was tempted to get some after my new AP springs didn't give me the drop I was after but ended up going the whole hog and ordering some ST XA coilovers from Demontweeks... -
@kvmvl Where did you get the reps?

This is why I'm looking forward to a (semi deserted?) South Island road trip in a few weeks. Shame I'll be in a RAV4 rental ?

I like the drive down SH16 from Wellsford through Helensville - decent roads and great scenery. Need to try the Awhitu Peninsula and the famous Pohutakawa coast drive. Might need to drag myself out of bed early on a spring Sunday morning and 'beat the traffic'.
