I'm branching off into another time consuming side hustle to get a fancy screen replacing my 5x gauges ... started a separate thread to cover that one which can be found here:

So I've become a bit tired of my 5x regular gauges and I'd like to display a wider range of data (A/F ratios per cylinder bank, maybe speed / rpm, some performance stats etc). Also want to get the space in the console back so I can install a proper Android Auto head unit or similar. As I've already got a micro controller in the car hooking into the BMW and Nissan CAN buses its only a short(ish) jump to displaying things of interest on a screen. I came across Waveshare who make a really amazing range of screens and ordered the 7.9" 1280x400 capacitive touch model. Its about the size of a single DIN unit which should work really well ... will drive this with a Raspberry Pi mounted to the back of it. Will run Grafana on the Pi and stream data to it from the micro ... which I will change from an Arduino to much more capable ESP32 also. Anyhooooo ... a picture is worth a thousand words so here is the display and a simple mock up dash running off the Pi.

What are these worth? Full Black Aluminium Cube Trim Set For E46 Cube
Cement replied to Harper's topic in General Discussion
Sent you a PM earlier @Harper just mentioning in case you've missed it. You know you want the bits to go to a good Auckland home where you can check on them from time to time ๐คฃ Will pickup also so no need to package, we all hate wrapping things. -
Damn !!! That sucks ... was it bare metal and rusting as we speak ?

What are these worth? Full Black Aluminium Cube Trim Set For E46 Cube
Cement replied to Harper's topic in General Discussion
Assume subject should be E46 coupe not cube ? I could be tempted, in true kiwi Trademe style ... swop four wood 1's and kAsh yur way ?? haw haw haw Hard to say what they're worth, at present I'm thinking in percentages of MFactory LSD's and $9xx is certainly a fair percentage of that. -

I went in to Rapid Radio the other week, they seem to be focusing on the higher end of things and will likely have a few clues depending on what you're after. -
Still jealous of the Draggy !! I'll have to change my code for 0-60 for comparison, but then i might need to pop a gear change in there hah I quite enjoyed trying to launch it, few tyre roasting experiences ๐ญ Just realised i never did a 80-120 using 2nd gear to start !! Classic, will have to give it a go.

I'm waiting for some kind of meet up ... hopefully on a cloudy day as the no aircon life is tough Been working on the tuning lately, lots of learning and some doing ... got out for a good run tonight to Silverdale and around. First time finding the rev limiter at 7650 uphill on an onramp in 2nd for data logging. Looks like I'm out of injectors which is surprising !! Although it was running quite rich hmm. First real run into open loop territory. Did some 0-50's also which were a lot of fun with no modern traction control etc

I've put a small mortgage through Racelab for Speedflow fittings ... pretty sure they can make the hoses up for you there also. Same as GSS and other places. Pop in and see Neil for a chat Don't be put off assembling yourself also its all pretty straight forward ๐

Have a welder at home if you want to fix the leak @Sammo, I think we are in the same sort of area.

So much work going on here !! Great progress updates Probably not applicable as you're on the mainland but I'll mention here anyhow in case its useful in the future or for others ... highly recommend https://www.beattys.co.nz/driveline in Auckland for driveshaft work. Just make sure they note 'fussy paint job' on it like they did for me ๐

I have no specific knowledge in bimmer land but if you end up needing to tweak things with some new / aftermarket items I'd highly recommend AdrenalinR (https://adrenalinr.com/). Used two of their mufflers on my car and was impressed with the product, plus its kiwi made !!
-
Awesome @Eagle I'd be super keen to hear ... i was super close to getting one in their Black Friday sales recently !! Thanks for the route @Sammo, once we get past the Christmas and new year period and I can hopefully / finally relax a little I'd love to take a spin (with tool box in boot) Been thinking I should catch up with you as the resident super beautiful interior consultant to set some direction also hah ... reminded every time i look over at my sagging window trim and rear panel fabric flapping around since an old workmate jumped in the back the other week.

Checked the 80-120 acceleration measurement is working, the display is just hanging out in the glovebox for now. Will look to right align the metrics and change colour based on value or something later I think ... loads of tinkering one can do in that space !!

Will follow the thread its looking awesome and no hate from me, I just passed my cert today for VQ37 in E46 I'm trying to think now if I have some sage words of wisdom ... errrrrr ... Do the non glamorous things on the way through while you can and have access. I had to fix my new fuel lines to the body at 300mm centres behind the engine ... soooo easy to do before final fitment, a real shitter of a job to do after. If you've not already got a certifier on the case I'd sort that and have a quick convo or site visit, get them to point out any specific concerns etc The LVVTA forum is useful for questions https://lvvta.proboards.com/ You'll already have discovered this one by now I think, take your 'high' budget figure and double it ๐ธ Mini-tub the rear and get a good LSD ? ๐

Ta daaaaaaaaaa ... WoF booked for tomorrow then rego and then ... sheeeeeit, not sure what then !?!! I guess I can actually drive the thing ... like a real car ?! How odd ๐คฏ
