    325 auto box

Any of you bright sparks out there able to tell me if I can use the engine wiring loom as used in a 325i with the 4 HP 22 EH auto box, with a manual box...?? Reason for asking is that the engine loom on this car has a separate plug on it next to the motronoc computer plug, coming from the engine bay that plugs into the loom for the computer box for the gearbox (computer box is in the boot). Obviously I am removing the auto and putting a non-aged gearbox in it (leave those sort of gearboxes for Jazzbass to use... ). Are there any mods I need to do to the loom or can I just chuck the manual box in and leave that plug disconnected? Photo shows plug circled.

  3. I reckon if you gave that thing a hard bump about 50kg of bog would fall out... Still better than a honda though..

    Dials

For some reason the plastic gears in some speedos go soft and strip. The only way to fix it is to replace the speedo unit as I am unaware of any source for the gears. The speedo is driven from the diff and is most unlikely that the plug has fallen out, but check it anyway... you never know.

    Alarm install

If you use both left and right indicators for indicating arm/disarm, you will need to install diodes in the lines from the indicator wires. Otherwise just use one side, no diode needed. I think the right indicator wire is blue/black, left blue/red..

  10. Just don't let Gus loose with your car Andy!!!
  11. Pic showing how the uv's shoukd be aligned. Have drawn a yellow line showing they are straight along the length of the prop and 2 details showing the position of each uv in relation to the line.
  12. Shaft is balanced as a complete unit. Universals need to be aligned too. I think the alignment of the uv's is more important as i have mixed and matched propshafts before and not really had a balance problem with them but have always taken pains to align the uv's.
  13. Be careful you don't separate the shafts in the middle when you are pulling away to get it out. If you do separate them, you need to put them back together the same way or you will probably get vibrations from a now out-of-balance shaft.

  18. The dealer is right in a way, the leads themselves are copper and do not normally fail. The suppression is in the caps, these sometimes give problems but not often. I would suggest testing the leads first with an ohmmeter. End to end the lead should read no more than 8000 ohms. The dist cap and plug cap ends come off with some great difficulty and can be replaced, probably fairly expensive I would guess.. The lead itself, being copper does not normally need replacing. I would suggest getting replacement leads, if you need them from your previous measurement, from a wrecker, but take your multimeter with you and measure them first. (I may have a spare set here somewhere). What is the reason you want to replace them? (corrected spelling, can't have Grant all over me, can I ?? )

dat's me... but don't worry, *sic trolls the web because driving a honda is so soul destroying. :drunk:
  21. Just a warning, don't make a habit of jerking the drivetrain, the rubber flexible joint (donut) on the prop will give in. Also, when you did your manual conversion, did you put the donut in the right way round? If you put it in wrong, it will quickly destroy itself and will give you knocks and drivetrain play. The arrow on the donut should point towards the flange mount BTW...
  22. Cheers for that, got it!!!

Looks very promising... is it glossy black or has it a metallic flake in it? Hard to tell from the pic. You prepping and painting it yourself?
