  1. there's a bumper guy I've heard is quite good. On the way out to the warehouse lyall bay. Next to the vincent aviaton hangers. no personal experience. small shop. But I heard he's good.
  2. i'd like to see the picture where you clicked it has a LSD ?
  3. +1 nice wheels. probably alot more rare than an e39 too. post up some shots
  4. you are probably right. it was about 5 years ago I was looking to import. Wait. there's a massive thread about importing rules somewhere's.... for gods sake's lets not kick off that off again... abort, abort...
  5. I've owned both a 2003 (yes very rare only 17 NZnew sold in NZ I believe) and my current 2002.Took me over a year to locate a decent example each time..... And that was over 4 years ago. You might want to look to the UK to import.
  6. what did he expect?noise damn bikes. scares all the damn ewe's. lol
  7. cheers... yes well aware. My lawyer predicted they would do this.
  8. i've had a full compliment of powerflex bushes in my M5 for probably a year now. Super happy with the ride. Might be alittle stiff for some, but I like that. (ive dropped the front 30mm on H&R springs & the rear is standard) turn in and steering feel has improved. The little shimmy i was feeling under medium braking is gone. High speed cornering stability feel is improved. the only thing I would say is that being a 5 series the car rides alot softer than any shorter wheelbase car. My tyre wear is excellent. It's ridiculous how many km's iv'e got out of this set of boots. I'd recommend and would do again.
  9. The latest on my saga is I received a letter today stating that Shred is requesting a rehearing in it Shred has accused Steve Murch of providing false evidence in court. Which is, utter, utter horsesh*t of course. Steve is registered with the NZ court system as it's resident expert to call on for anything turbo related. He has never, ever done anything but provide objective evidence based on facts. All his evidence has been consistent and backed up with written proof. Shred has changed their story so many times I've lost count and claims of not remembering facts makes me think they should run for parliment. All the while they never tabled any evidence. Because they never had any. Also they are now requesting to add their insurance company and the engine builder as respondents in the case. Anyone to shift blame to. That should go down well with them. I've provided my response to the court in regards to this obvious stall tactic. An appeal for rehearing does not effect any enforcement action. I'm confident the court will see through this. Everything else is on track.
  10. damn. twine? wholey cow. I feel for that guy.
  11. +1My current M5 has 8 owners. I have to admit I had to check as to why that was...plenty of dealerships mostly but a few short term owners. It had full service history so I went for it. It's been the best car I have ever owned. 6 years now and counting.
  12. questions are what a forum is for.No i didn't bother with their mounts and just made my own. It's simple as using the speaker tube as a template and using a jigsaw to cut up some customwood. Alittle bit of fidding and I got one sorted right and used that to template the other door. Seriously I'm no woodworking genius either. But it is just draw a pattern and cut it out. Adjust to fit. If you are concerned any audio install shop should be able to sort for you for a reasonable coin as it's not that difficult an install. Like I mentioned. I believe whether you use good 5.25's or 6.5's you will still have to make these mounts. So why not go big?? When you compare the factory speaker to the the aftermarket you will see what I mean. The aftermarket speaker's rear will be substantially larger. That's why they are better speakers. Bigger magnets. Better materials. The factory 5.25 only just fits in the tubes. I highly doubt any decent aftermarket speaker would fit or if they do it probably wouldn't be any improvement sound wise. My 6.5's are in the door. In the factory position. No cutting of the door card or any internal door parts. Just simply replaced the tube & speaker.
  13. JBL make good value for money units. What you are replacing is like for like with better materials. If you really want to improve the sound I would highly recommend you go for bigger components. There's plenty of room for a 6.5" speaker with a very large magnet in the door. the amount of work to get that in will be exactly the same as the 5.25". If the setup is the same as the e39 (which i suspect it is) factory is a 5.25" speaker with tweeter in the sail position. the 5.25" woofer uses a plastic tube as a 'box' to enhance the sound. With a better quality speaker you will no doubt have a bigger magnet meaning you will loose the ability to mount in the tube unless you can hack the tube to fit somehow. chances are you will have to ditch the tube and just mount with a custom wood mount anyway. this is what I did: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...e-your-speakers the $ difference between a 5.25 & 6.5 isn't alot. But the sound difference is huge. good vid to watch (shows the plastic tube well): http://stereo-installation.wonderhowto.com...bmw-e38-143467/
  14. i love my re001's i have two sets. i hear the 002's are even better. you'd be crazy to not consider them
  15. yes they are all the same unfortunately. It really depends on what music you listen to and how you listen to it. If big thumping bass is what you are into then a simple speaker upgrade wont do it. But if you are looking for just sound improvement then replacing the speakers with larger units isn't that hard. I replaced all the speakers in my E39, re-used factory amp & wiring. I just had to make a couple of customwood speaker rings to mount them in the doors. But there's plenty of room in there. Binned the 5.25mm speakers for a good set of 6.5's and tweeters (front & rear). Huge improvement. Kept the headunit etc & added in a dice audio ipod input from richard@gadgetman. Works well for me. Nothing super tricky, there's plenty of info online about how to strip the doors and speaker locations. Great wknd project.
  16. no slides. deadline past. no contact. Statutory demand served. 15days wait before the liquidators move in.
  17. you would be lucky to find one with less than 100k's on it....
  18. yep. deals for BM'er sporters. time to clear out the garage & think about what else I want to stick in the other side. Probably something boring, as I'm getting old & it just seems plan wrong to stick fruit tree's and gardening equipment out the sunroof in an M5.
  19. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=620949371 will do a deal for a BMsport member. real. staggered.

    Limp mode -solved

cheers jon. I propped the car up and found the root cause. Two of the wires on the post cat 02 sensor has touched the heat shield and worn away the plastic shield and shorted on each other. I've electrical tape wrapped the wires back up, pulled the shielding back up and replaced the sensor. Took the car for a burn down to the waterfront for my usual monday SPCA walk. Gave it the sh*ts on the way home. Oh yeah. she's fixed alright. Damn I love that car.

    Limp mode -solved

Woohoo. This was doing my head in so I skipped home at lunch. Yep. Blown 30amp fuse in the little fuse box under the passenger side Cabin air filter. Replaced & cleared codes again & drained power. Ill test drive it this afternoon to confirm. Thanks for the input. To anyone with a e39 in limp mode with code 81 showing on a scan. Check this O2 heater fuse. here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=679306
