Shoot Gavin at Euro Italian (forum sponsor) an e-mail. He can get anything in and has been very helpful to me.

Just the oil light. I thought there might be a separate service. Is what is required/recommended for this service available in a manual somewhere? (I assume Haynes manual might have it but I never liked their books).

Yellow "inspection" light on the E30 has come on. I did the oil and filter change at 217000km on the 15/03/12 and reset the service lights to show all green. I am fairly certain they were all green (maybe one green had gone out) just before the yellow light came on. It is now 220500km and less than 6 months down the track I would have thought it wouldn't be asking for another change so soon. The colour and quantity of oil still looks clean and well topped up. Is it maybe looking for a different service or a published BMW service from a dealer? Many Thanks.

Any interest what so ever? It can be at different times in Auckland and/or Tauranga too.

Hi Guys, Bought some brand new E30 Drum Shoes but never ended up using them. $50 sound fair? Andrew

That same video has a 190E I think half buried in the ground.

The car had been sitting without a run for 3 weeks straight and before then it had only been run twice after sitting for another 3 weeks on top of it. It did take two attempts to start it, didn't think I had cranked for more than 5 seconds each time. I got an e-mail from HQ and they sent back a warranty document which says it does not cover backfires but they made a very nice offer of a new muffler free of labour charges. I guess I will have to take them up on it but only when I get the money which sucks.

Hi Guys, 3 months ago I got a brand new muffler and rear exhaust piping +hangers from Pit Stop. The original had finally rusted to pieces. I went with a standard replacement as there was not much point in getting a sports system for a 318i and I could hardly afford it anyway. There were two options and one had a 6 month warranty on it so I went for that one which was slightly more expensive. Well two nights ago I came back from uni holidays and went to put some gas in the tank. The battery was dead so I had to jumpstart it at the petrol station. I started cranking and it didn't fire first time so I stopped, waited and then tried again. This time it started but then literally exploded. I almost shat myself along with everyone else at the petrol station one of whom started to reach for the fire extinguisher. I had turned the car off as soon as it exploded and jumped out of the way then stood there trying to figure out what the hell just happened. I soon saw the gaping hole in the muffler. It has split right down the weld seam which has coincidently broken the rear hanger. I went back to Pit Stop and told them what happened. They said it is not covered by the warranty as it backfired. The warranty only states it is not covered by misuse/abuse, off-road/racing use and physical contact damage (ie crashes). They had a look at the muffler and said I would need a new one it cannot be fixed but there is no way in hell I can afford another hit like that. What can I do about this? I have e-mail the head office of Pit Stop and hopefully get a reply, pretty gutted it only lasted 3 months, the original lasted 25+ years! Andrew

You wouldn't have the blower fan out of this would you? Also would you know if the blower fan from a FL would fit in a PFL? -
I would say go for an LED TV with a high refresh rate. My brother has a Samsung LED Smart TV 46" with 500 or 600Hz refresh rate. There is absolutely no motion blur. I have a Samsung LCD HD 22" (Standard 60Hz) which has a fair amount of motion blur and my parents have a Panasonic Plasma 46" which has less motion blur than my LCD but more than my brothers LED. The picture quality on the Plasma is also the worst. Just my experience.

Bumps the topic to the top of the threads. If the original post has been around for a while it will fall to the second page which is hardly going to get any views.

Just swapped front struts over. The replacement left one doesn't have a threaded bolt end to put the brake pad wear sensor ground wire on. Is there an alternate place to attach it? What are the consequences of running without it attached? I need to go and get new tyres tomorrow and wonder if it is going to damage anything electrically having it loose? It can't get caught in any moving parts I have checked that. Thanks.

Installed replacement shocks. In for it's warrant re-check tomorrow!

Well it is all sorted. Many thanks to all who helped out, new cylinders, lines, shoes and drums are on and system is bled. I never realised how dangerous the brakes were beforehand... I guess it takes a good system to compare to.

My dad has had a 300E and 190E. They are very comfortable rides but seem to have had various minor mechanical issues. Just like an E30 in that respect I suppose

Installed replacement shoes, drums and cylinders. Then bled the brakes. Soon to adjust the handbrake.

I think JKSE had one or two?

Thanks for your help so far guys. Up to putting on new cylinders just a question on the procedure here. Old one is off and brake line is plugged. When I put the new one on, I fit it and open the bleed valve on the back of the cylinder, get someone to put pressure on the brake (max pressure???) and then when it flows out the valve, close the valve? Is that right so far and do I do this with or without the new shoes on? I assume without. Many Thanks.

Cheers it's been soaking in WD-40 since I started trying.

Anyone have a screw remover set and drill in Palmerston North? Have a stripped bolt I need out. My car is up on stands now so if you could drop off that would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Andrew
