Finally got my exhaust sorted. The original had long past its use by date and slowly becoming louder and louder. Eventually it got ripped off by Massy Uni parking traps making it sound stupidly obnoxious. Now with a brand new muffler and all brand new mounts the car is quieter and smoother than ever!

Welcome Where abouts are you located? Might be useful to put it in your profile so people know where to send you if you need help etc Anyway loving the white PFL! Might be able to find some nice spotlights for it too?

Might grab that towbar and if you have an electric aerial? Will text you through the week when I get some money. When are you moving?

Hi Guys, E30 M10 engine throttle body is shown below. Anyone know where the hose that is circled in red is meant to attach to? Many Thanks, Andrew

I'd be in for sure. Have been trying to make it to some events but it seems luck hasn't been on my side this far.

Living in Auckland Options...which area?
kevinator9 replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in Off-Topic
Meadowbank, Kohimarama, Mission Bay and Saint Helliers are nice spots (live in the area and went to school there). The closer to the beach the higher the price though. -
Just bought a bimmersport.co.nz white sticker for the back window. I guess just to show my appreciation for the help I've got on here. Will have to get some updated pics with my crappy cellphone.

Hi Guys, Just going over the engine bay and tidying up/fixing up little things I have found. Have come across these pipes that have been blocked off. There was another vacuum line that had the sane thing done to it but I sorted out where that went. Car is a 1985 318i Coupe Auto Jap import. This pipe leads to a dead end and I cannot figure out where it is supposed to go. RealOEM has the exploded view of my throttle assembly but doesn't show these two hoses. They are attached on the hidden side of the exploded view. These two pipes should split and join back up again. Like in the exploded view. But someone has blocked one off and looks like the splitter valve (Labelled: "Reducer" #11631707723) is damaged. Just want to make sure I have got this right as I will order a new "Reducer" and put that back together. Also this extra plug up the front by the air intake is not connected to anything and there is nowhere for it to be connected. Is there and extra something that is missing? It is on the same piece of wire as the plug that is in the air intake (I am guessing air temp sensor). The airflow meter has it's plug. Sorry for the long and involved post with picture overkill just want to see if I can right these wrongs. Many thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to help. Andrew

They can be insured in a crash through a normal insurance company. The thing is, premiums are huge, especially if you have a $500 model and plow it often when you are learning (which is guaranteed). It makes more sense if you have a very expensive model that you don't intend on crashing, but who does it intentionally

A question on Oil Filters. I have just changed the oil filter on my M10 and the old filter is much taller than the new one the dealer sold me to replace it. The new one is on all good and well but will it cause any problems? The old one is labeled as an M20 Oil Filter on my old service sheet and the new one I have is labeled as an M10 Oil Filter from the dealer parts sheet.

Oil and filter change. Replaced old lower pan gasket and will hopefully be getting a replacement power steering line tomorrow to fix the leaking one on it at the moment. I'm glad I have started doing these little jobs. I never knew how simple and rewarding they would be! After all the maintenance, it will be time for a well deserved clean.

I'm into well and good Worked at a hobby shop in Auckland and now working at one in Palmy. Good fun, I am more into the Helicopters but something to play around with nonetheless.

A stunning example of an E36. I see it around town often and looks brilliant. GLWS.

Nice white E30 (Coupe if I remember?) parked up on SH1 in Foxton one nice black rims. Reminded me of HOSTGE. Then saw an awesome Ford Escort (RS1800?) drive past a second later.

Who "supervises" their car when its being worked on?
kevinator9 replied to shaneg's topic in General Discussion
I often watch to learn. I assume I do not know as much as the person who has the job to do it (I am just starting to do my own oil changes and minor repairs etc) so am very eager to see what is going on when it is getting worked on by someone else. I often ask if I can watch and I let them know it's so I can understand as I know some people do not like people watching while they work. -
Thanks John I will be in contact! Also sent a parts request to Milland, much prefer to buy from them. The BMW dealer down here wasn't the kindest to me last time I went in. Don't think they like old BMW's or students...

Probably going to grab them from the dealer as I am getting oil filter and mudflap clips from them. That power steering hose though... Jeez. Cheaper to top up the fluid every month or so!

Anyone have new or second hand part Power Steering Hose 32 41 1 131 545 I got quoted $126.57 from the dealer... Ouch. Also parts: M10 Lower Sump Gasket 11 13 1 727 983 M10 Upper Sump Gasket 11 13 1 727 974 Not too bad pricing from the dealer but if anyone has those too (obviously they need to be brand new) I would like to compare costs. Thanks!
