Good call, finally!!Who is making the hats & caliper mounts?? Have a look at the wilwood Dynapro's, radially mounted (easy to put on bigger dia. disc's without needing new mounts) and have dust boots (so you don't need to rebuild them after every event).

Maybe a " :thumb: good-one" would have confirmed the sarcasm You'll prolly find it was a early '90's "bolt-on" deal, back when HFM/MAF's weren't widely used and adding new ECU to an already $$$ kit would have been $$$$$$$$$$$$. And besides BMW saw fit to use the flapper on the E30 M3's why not a M42 :thumb:
-
A HFM/MAF would be better.Prolly still works with the stock ECU and ultra chrisp throttle response. The lack of runner & trumpet lenght looks more of a "mass production" result than a finely tuned solution, prolly still better than stock!! I'd go for some of these bad boy's: http://www.speed-technology.com/efi_throttle.html

Good call conrod. Besides there aren't any real advantages to the M3 body (unless you get down to the aerodynamic's about the rear window/boot lid), unless it were "M3 look" guards that are actually wider as per the 1000hp Kilander Turbo S38 325/M3 monster. The stock E30 guards can accomodate tyres that are more than big enough for it's weight/power potenial. FWIW, I have 245/40's on the front & rear, there is still ~15mm to the guards (rolled lips) which is plently for a 240/625 slick (V8 tourer tyres). The front you are limited by the chassis rails in terms of steering lock and the foot well if you go for a tyre taller than 630mm (which requires a bit of persuasion (sp?) with a hammer anyway). Wheel width & offset are a factor also.

O'dear, a carb'd old iron block  If it were a EFI LS-1 or something that'd be better, but a "real" dirty old dinosaur motor, and with our stunning fuel prices!! There are a few people in the US with LS-1's in their E30's & E36's, they can get them to sit real low and the EFI inlet manifold is quite flat so no bonnet issues. Full credit for doing the swap, keep us posted with pic's etc...

Bit of rust where the battery goes and in the middle of the pass. door (strange place). Haven't had a good look as I had no plans for it. Rego is meant to be on hold but I think they fooked it up, so prolly not??
-
'Cause the look like darth vader. How the headrest comes down over the shoulders of the seat like Darth's helmet. Well thats how I see it.
-
I've got a SA 320i for free. Rolling body, missing guards, bootlid & bonnet.
-
Yip thats my misses I see, the M3 wasn't too bad either.Thats daring, luckily the wife can't reach the pedal's in mine (fixed seat). I think there is another one (same colour) in town with the ivory interior. Servicing, DIY, best way to become intimate with your stead, otherwise Page European have a good reputation, BMW (Shelley's) seem like a pack of monkies from my brief dealings with them (and other family/friends). Enjoy your stay at bimmersport, just watch out for ///Carl, he's dodgy. I see you're not a newb, just a silent non-poster, dodgy.
-
Blonde and was outside the train station (bunny st??) yesterday AM?? V.tidy ride.
-
V.kewl. OT You got lots of spare time/not busy?? Never ending supply of tard-me links today!!!
-
DIY it, the parts are like $3.50 from DSE or JAYCAR.
-
I thought you were sticking a 5spd in it?? Looking good.
-
You can adjust the ecu with a variable resistor, this works best on L-jet cars as the effects of chaning the percieved efi air or water temp sensor output will change the fuel map, on the L-jet ecu this does not effect the ignition timing as it does on a motronic ecu. This is good for fine tuning but not for gaining bulk HP as advertised.
-
Yip, at least yours came out. I had the gas out, bent a hammer & mushroomed the end of the CV before it came out. Nice 1/4 time & speed also.
-
Just looked at the pics again. I see it isn't a reversed box, maybe it has the $$$ AP stubby MC's?? Hard to tell if it is sitting further back than stock?? (fine if you are short).
-
Out of a STi EJ20 maybe, then can you say $$$, not to mention a RWD gearbox to suit 'cause a modded 4WD won't last too long.4G63, need to find a decent RWD gearbox & then adapt it to fit. S2000, last one I saw for sale was $8000 with gearbox, $$$$$$$$$. Gus, I don't see why a M20 turbo wouldn't be reliable on the track. Get a decent HG & bolts and a Link with a good tune and it should be fine, they are only unreliable when people think they are indestructable and "turn up the boost". If you are building the engine then go for a lower comp. ratio for a bit more reliability (or boost).
-
Well have I got the turbo for you!!!! A lovely brand spankers Holset HX-35.OT Conrad/Gus, I looked at going the pedal box route but the BCR wasn't there (Benefit/Cost (and effort) ratio) to justify it. And the lack of space in the footwell in the first place for a floor mounted box would mean it had to be a reversed MC box which means the floor plate needs to be raised as per those pics, which is rather messy. As far as spongy goes, mine are far from that (still with rubber lines) with the 25mm MC. And as soon as the slop in the linkages (not much) is taken up the pedal is nice and firm. Don't get me wrong I'm justifying the gawd-awful setup we are bleased with, just that it is not that bad or hard to make better, esp. if a "all out" pedal box is your alternative.
-
Colour, who gives a F*#k, as long as it's not pink or barney purple just leave it the same colour, esp. if it's a good E30 for a good price!!! Def. the M20 turbo if you want torque AND hp.
-
Dam shame to see you giving up on the project. $6500 is a steal, I guess you must be after a quick sale?? Just don't let some munter buy it!!!!
-
I am confused by this, why do you say it is unmanagable, do you think the motor will tear itself from its mountings and fall on the road in a smouldering heap?!!! Or do you mean YOU could not handle 300hp? Or is your car unmanagable in the wet because you have some low profile Nankangs, lowered springs giving it lots of negative cvamber and no tyre footprint, and a set of buggered shocks? And what is the dynamic of the E30 that you refer to? I am building an E30 with an S50 3.2 engine, it will have 321hp(stock) and to be honest, this will be the limiting factor as to how fast the car ultimately is on the racetrack. It should/will handle better than most of the cars running in the muscle car class, but will get dusted off on the straights, and I am under no illusions about that. It would get its ass kicked if I were to run in this class. Beat me to it.My E30 feels right at home with 300rwhp and loads of torque, a little lacking at times. Sure, if you have a bog stock E30 with 300hp, that would be nasty, but any muppet that does that deserves to have a e30 that drives like sh!t.
-
Less boost, but would spool up quicker.Less ignition advance to prevent detonation. Also a decent intercooler & water/methanol injection would be good. Knowing M20's the Head gasket would let go before anything else!! Just have a set of low comp. pistons ready for when the HG blows and chuck them in with a MHG and good bolts and boost away. Might as well give the combustion chamber a clean up while you are there!!
-
O'yeah, low comp is all good, means lots of ignition timing & BOOOOOOST.
-
Interesting article. Fooken expensive though, the "budget" 205hp version costs more than it did to get my car on the road (the first time that is). OT. Sam, Drop me a PM re the turbo, I'm sure we can work something out.
