OT: my mags will pwn faces when when all four are on. mind you it does already with only 2 on.Its costing 120+gst to get reparied. I didnt see an xray machine there. Mind you i dont really know what one looks like. I hope you put some decent sized tyres on this time Tim!!!Some 225/45's at least. Looking forward to seeing it.

Post up the before & after dyno plots, would be interesting to look at!!
-
I was rivited to the E30 roof, nasty!!! But I'm sure I've seem this model with the brackets that clamp over the lips above the doors!?!?! I'll find out what brand & width it is for you. $$ not much. They are like these: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-41850189.htm

I've got one from a E30. I can measure it for you to see if it will fit??
-
ThanksYip, monobloc's off a 996, to match the fronts. The whole E28 rear end, the subframe is about twice the size of the weedy E30 one, so thats got to be good. Didn't take much modifying either. I'll throw some pics together on a web page once it's going.

Got any pic's Sparkle???Offsets??
-
Thanks for clearing that up conrod. I'm glad I was right, 'cause I'd be pretty pissed at spending all year putting the E28 backend into the E30 if a 325 one could have done the job Make sure you don't eat it all, I'm sure most us over the years will have a few mouth fulls. Keep us updated on your progress. Here is a bit of a teaser of what I've been upto. Should be test driving this weekend, fingers crossed.

Do you need 18x9's with 200hp?? I think not. Some nice 16x7.5 or 8's with 225/45's would be just right. Wheels are still reasonably light, tyres are wide enough to not need any body work and give plenty of grip. (could run 245/45's with some fender rollling etc...) Quite a few OE 5er wheels are that size, so could look v.tasteful.

Flying pigs, hen's teeth, turbine II's.All from the same shop aye cain. If only. kiwipetrolhead: The staggered 18" tyre setup I mentioned is what came on the last of the E34 M5's with 18x8 & 9" M-parallel's like Martyns. And you could just go with 18x8.5" and 235/40's all round if you dount like the staggered idea. You can always keep one of the metric's or pick up 1 15/16/17" wheel off trademe to use as a spare, as long as the OD is roughly the same it only needs to get you to the tyre shop. Pic. 265/35 R18 rear

/55's why so tall???oh, thats right, your zorst is real low
-
They will if they are the same OD, which they should be to keep the speedo correct.Thats why you go to lower profile tyres on bigger wheels. The Beyern mesh in a 18x8.5" front with 235/40's and the 18x9.5" rear with 265/35's would be the business. E34-535ti's car has the same size tyres and the ride is amazing, not harsh at all but still crisp.
-
I like Conti's (Thanks Micheal).Agree, the run of the mill tyre companies are useless if you know any better. I'd (do) use a water blaster, does a good job, then mag cleaner if needed.

Compressed springs = crap!!!No, shortened shocks won't stiffen it up. New shocks will control the springs better. Rear guard rub is because you are too low & soft = springs (and shocks if they are fooked). [insert standard response] If you go with something like Koni's or Bilstein's and some Jamex's or King's it will ride very well and be low, not ass scraping pimpin' low. Anything less is a compromise, Anything more is custom ($$$ if you want it to work well). [/insert standard response]

Looking good and $$$ Andrew

Is that a genuine "Motorsport" laptop from BMW or has someone just riced it out with some "M" badges
-
Something like a 225/40 or 35 R18 on at least a 7.5" wide rim are the closest to the stock 205/60 R15's
-
et42 is fine. They are skinny buggers, 7.5" wide!!
-
I'm pretty sure it's a S54B32 from a Mcoupe (US Spec). Not a S50B32.But V.Kewl either way!!!
-
Besides, if you can fit 18x10.5" with 285/30 Hoosier on a E30 with only rolling/pulling the guards, I'm sure you can make something work on the e36!!
-
It will be tricky tie-ing some wide arches in since it's a 4dr and you don't have much space to transition them before the door. Good luck, post pics!!!
-
The newer Commodores (VT's VZ's etc...) are ~45offset so are not right for the 5&7'ers.
-
Indeed, If there is something I've missed in my quest for a reliable back-end, I want to know about !!!!And hoping all my work putting the E28 back-end into the E30 isn't in vain!!!
-
Thats very interesting.I have heard of E28 inner CV's being put onto E30 axles (which is kind useless when it's the outer ones that blow!!). The parts catalog has a diameter of 105mm noted for the 325 drive flanges, which is close to the 111mm of the E28/MZ3 ones but the PCD is smaller and the internals of the CV are alot smaller. As you can see below, the axles are the same across the E30 models, same axles=same CV's, go figure!?!?!

Just have 2 engine Andrew!!!Make up some nice quick release connectors to aide the removal process.
