PM 318i Touring, he has one.

It's worth a go Ollie!! Good to see some initiative. I recall reading an article on the phantom grip installed on a Sentra SE-R (US thing), had some graphs showing measured wheel slip Left Vs Right, I think they also tore the diff down after 10,000km and there was little to no wear. As said earlier, a replacement open diff is cheap, I think Brent sells them for $80, someone can have my old one if they blow theirs with one of Ollie's gizmo's. Better than spending $600 on a BMW LSD that needs a rebuild!!

Welcome aboard. Sounds like a nice ride you've built yourself, looking forward to pic's.

Gus, The eternal planner, or is that procrastinator???Never heard of ARP doing them for the M20, could be wrong!?!? Yanks always use their "Metric Blues" which from what I gather are just Hi-Tensile bolts instead of the OE Torque to Yield bolts. Autronic is getting pretty serious Gus!! Reasonably $$$, the Swede's etc... like to use them, I think Andre at Speedtech has done a lot with them and a friend in OZ is using one on his 2JZ E30.

This is prolly the only area I'd be a BMW purist, It's just not a e30 m3 without a S14.Turbo it (does loose some of the originality of the m3) if need be to get some usable HP out of it instead of a mega $$$ rev happy NA build or a big heavy S50.

Will be interesting indeed. I like it how everyone goes bidding crazy with 10 days to go. I presume it's their "autobidding" going nuts?? Well Matt, you've called shotgun on it, just remember to relinquish the shotgun to others on here if the bidding gets too high.

Saw them on top gear a few weeks back, The Stig doing donuts in a TVR.
-
I'd go with 17" style 5's or RS's, NOT 18's though, look a bit too big IMO.
-
Can you not move it above the IC?? Extend the lines if need be!?!?!
-
kinda says/implies they are the same size!?!?!The 4.27 comes in +89 auto Jap import E32 730's & 735's, case is of no use but if you are swapping centres anyway.

No money for nice wheels but plently for butt fugly lambo doors.OK If you don't mind 2nd handies, these are nice: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-54455099.htm

not CV's.Wheel bearing tend to have a low rumbling sound. Could be the output shaft bearings in the gearbox!?!?!
-
I shouldn't whine if it's unbalanced, it would vibrate!! Have a ring around, my local guy can do 2pc driveshafts, he send +2pc ones to auckland.
-
No worries. Mechanically it is easy, but doing it right it the hard part, side load & pinnion depth, hrmmm, OK. Shouldn't cost much to get the internal swapped over, but as I said check the LSD out first otherwise it's a waste of $$$ if you have to pull it apart again to rebuild the LSD.
-
That should cover everything. Might pay to check the breakaway torque before you go to the effort of swapping internals and find the LSD is shagged and needs a rebuild. The LSD clutches & shims are NLA from BMW so you'll need custom made plates & shims, GAC in chch have these made but are $$$. 3. limited_slip.pdf

2nd'edAlthough I did pull the am/fm stereo out the other day as it kept turning off, reconnected the dodgy wires and full AM/FM power is back.

18's are a good on a E34, Koni shocks & Eibach springs. The ride is supple but firm, just as comfortable to ride in as stock, but with crisp handling. E34-535ti's car.
-
LOL, Thats what I thought, drove it once with stock brakes, scary as hell!!!Better start planing the budget to include them soon, as you will get very sick of them very quick if you don't have an incident.
-
Only if he as some 316 rear drums on there!!!
-
Tell me about it, a certain EK civic (w/H22a) won "best brakes" at the autosalon a couple of years ago, with stock rear drums still on it!!Last year Falgoon's WRX won the same prize with some SL6 wilwoods up front, on STOCK rotors and the calipers put on the wrong sides, in other words they were leading caliper put in the trailing position (ie. Fools bought the wrong calipers!!), I guess the judges/wof/cert man didn't see the rotation arrow on the caliper!!! I guess those are good examples of how NOT to do a brake upgrade as opposed to NO brake upgrade though.
