  1. Should be able to get the loom adaptors and aerial adaptor off ebay (Or maybe super cheap) One thing to note is that the e46 mid basses are 2ohm which may not suit the headunit if you are pushing the volume . If you do push the volume and the circuit design is good then it will either take the load or shutdown rather than taking out the output stage IC's.
  2. Whats the sound quality like via RCA's on these units ? (Given CD or lossess media)
  3. Foot on brake grab the gear stick unlock button and pull lever away from Console. gently accelerate
  4. Spent a similar amount with similar kms a few months back. These guys deal with lots of M3's both NZ and Imported and know the cars and market well. You can pay less , but upside of lower KM car is you'll get a few more years before changing car. ($10k doesn't seem much of a premium if you get another 3 years out of it) In terms of SMG , I wouldn't go back to manual now , Runs as an auto for the commute, In both auto and manual modes you can select settings between softer gear changes and very quick manual changes. I love the full throttle gear changes for swift and safe overtaking in manual mode and matched rev downshifts. The 18's will also give a greater range of tyre choices in NZ , Many people say that the car rides and handles better than the OEM 19" wheels(Bar lightweight CSL rim). I haven't tried 19" rimmed M3 so can't comment for sure.
  5. great pics, photo shop or B&W on the first one ?
  6. Seems to be a great year for Motorsport doco's. Hopefully will have the Bluray version of this sitting in the collection soon. Fav so far has been "Close to the Edge" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1698010/
  7. Go for a HSV 6.0 Ls2 Converson. Nice low V8, lighter than BMW 4.4 V8.

    Track car Question

Pretty sure it's ok under club sport regs. Just need fire exh and helment / suit. Doing similar in my Mini (Carpet to lessen sound of sccr box and drop gears) Not worried about weight as can up the boost to compensate.
  9. Looks like the screen that goes with this is missing. It would not have been fitted as standard and would have run in addition to your BMW audio system. If anything the audio from it mave have plugged trough a cassette adaptor into the BMW system. Intergrating this into a BMW system might not be that cost effective compared to buying the all in one systems that are on here. (swauto). I suspect that getting NZ maps for the panasonic unit could be problematic as well, but it does sound like it could play DVD's in which case you could probably add a screen.
  10. So the CS's are quite a nice upgrade over a standard M3 in terms of performance, but without the extra CSL airbox , bodywork changes and stripped out interior. I had read in a M3 forum somewhere that the CS also had the CSL springs as did the last of the M3's. Would there be any truth to this ?

    Audio buffs?

Now we're talking , wack in a music server with lossless audio content and you'll never go back (or lossess format on iphone otherwise music will sound very average)

    Audio buffs?

Concure with 3pedals , With most amps is safe to go up in speaker ohms rating. Have done similar with my PC music system based on an a yamaha DVD ht unit. Running 8ohm speaker where the factories where 6ohm. The 8ohm speakers where more effiectent drives so the sound output is about the same. Are you ex Wellington BTW , We may have meet if you dropped off a panasonic dvd in a x5 3.0d a few years back.
  16. They are adjustable and will probably go another 25 cm wider than the E30 rails. Just had a look in the garage and need to find one of the brackets to complete .Will try and find them over the weekend and they are yours.

    NOW WRECKING

Kerry , After a 18 inch front M3 rim without curbing
  18. Used gutter mount roof racks on my old e30. Came in handy for carrying long things when we built a house years back. Remember reading something about max weight for roof was arond 60 kg. I think the roof rack might be sitting in the garage somewhere. Can't remember brand (nz generic)but if any Wgtn members would like it (free) then pop me a pm.

    WRX STi's

Mate had the coupe version of these. On the coupe STI add water spray and variable ratio center diff so you can change the drive to give more bias to rear or front. Dispite regular thrasings his sti held together well. However , talking to the lads at the rally school a number of years back were saying that the EVOs were a bit stronger when used for competetion with gearboxs being the weak link in the wrx.(EVO4 era) Having said that plenty of performance shops know how to get the best out of these with stroker kits / stronger gearsets. Drive one first as the sti have lower gearing which makes for higher rpm at 100kmh. Great for having turbo in boost range but can get tiresome on journeys and fuel economy can suffer.
  20. Looks like the import laws have changed for the best in regards to TVRs. Was looking at trying to bring back Chimera at the time (and an E30 M3). Left the M3 too late to have owned one under lhd rules. Sounds like it's far easier to bring cars these cars in now which is a good thing.
  21. unit looks like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-410768634.htm
  22. Nice mod , getting ready for analog switch off plus another video input e39 e46 x5 mk1 video module or bm53/54 tuner module to screen is RGsB. Note sync on green which cuts down choices.
  23. If you can find one still go for a boston c110 sub. These are a high powered sub in a very small box as a result of running a 10 inch bass and a 10 inch passive radiator and i suspect they'd fit under the roof housing in your boot. They can take a ton of power and produce fast and tight bass. They are a two ohm load so will load up the power nicely on most single channel bass amps. They sound best with lots of clean power ( I'm running a 600rms class D soundstream amp for bass duties) A car stereo dealer was amazed at how well in performed compared to the current crop of mid range subs and I'm yet to find a replacement which produced quality bass from such a small enclosuer. Otherwise BSW make a good sub that uses the ski port into fire bass into the car for a conv. http://www.epinions.com/specs/pr-Boston_Ac...0_Car_Subwoofer
  24. Scottie has had this car for some time, had a look over it a few years back when it had 30,000km. This car was as new in many regards and the km's are about right as he has a number of BMW's in his collection so it wasn't a daily driver . It sat up the back end of the showroom for a number of years with a tag of $39,000 He's been selling BMW since I last wore a school uniform so knows a good car from a dud.
  25. One the subject of Jap radios has anyone done the RCA output mods on a BM53 tuner for pluging into aftermarket amps to bypass the balanced audio output stage ?
