dont bother with a rear, and if you have a cage, just tie it to the front struts

thats his site there http://www.diffsonline.com/product/customdiff1.shtml with US dollar, prices pretty good. comparable to a quaife as soon as you start playing with options. core charge not cheap though, but beats shipping a diff back to them. on his list, the adding of clutch packs adds pre load? have heard good things about variable lockup diffs, the 3 clutch pack variable for $1 825 seems to be the way to go?? it would have to be better than the quaife though for that price? although i notice he sells the quaife units too, same $2 3xx as the kaaz 1.5 way. the variable lockup diffs would only have 1 way lockup?

i had forgotten about dan...can clutch pack diffs be made to do variable locking %? hope thats not a dumb q andy needed the diff for race car..something that wont wear out due to race rubber...hopefully wheel lifting not too big of a problem. locked small case diffs dont last too well haha
-
yeah, that sounds more like what i had in mind... good points, the turbo does handle differently than the clutch LSD i need an LSD as i bought turbo sans diff...my other option is to go for a clutch pack diff and uprate it..that seems like the easier/cheaper and better option. darren knew someone in auckland didnt he who did LSD rebuilds and upgrading?? that sounds like me

have just got off the phone with Birds UK, quaife does not sell direct and they are the distributor. Prices for an E30: 718.52 GBP + VAT (which i may or may not be able to claim back) for the Unit itself around 1073 GBP for it installed in a differential not cheap! does someone want to find out how much to get one in NZ??

Modified E30: What would you do if you had the money?
Gus replied to m_power's topic in General Discussion
what glenn said, buy a decent car outta the box. will be faster (maybe) and worth more than anything that could be built ive had plenty of e30 swap ideas...most come back to e30 m3. IMO e30s are made to be 4cylinder (driving a few back to back) and all the 6's are compromise -
its hard to value, but as has been said, everyone who wanted it couldnt afford it, and everyone who could afford it didnt want it. a lot of it for me came down to the fact that it is a mint e30 and had good wheels/interior etc. the fact its around 280hp is a bonus, i wouldnt build one myself that fast

im in the UK if you cant find a NZ m52 crankshaft....if you can find one over here i can provide a UK shipping address and hope to ship some stuff back in a few months. last resort if you have no luck. i think UK ebay had a 2.8 bottom end for pretty cheap recently

anyone actually bought calipers from them? for e30 in specific, not that it really matters. what do they compare pricewise compared to wilwoods (how much higher exactly) i am going to try get some prices from here in the UK (Birds is a licensed retailer i think) and would be good to have something to compare to a few ones i have peeked at on their catalog have blank mounting points, meaning they can be drilled to negate the need for brackets? what are the open class guys doing for brakes at the moment anyway? i know andys, but glassford, the e36 guys? have heard a rumour that the Z1 rear brakes are larger and fit on the e30 trailing arms, can anyone confirm or deny?
-
haha thanks guys, but i have got storage organised...will be gone for long enough im not fussed about batteries, will just a new one to the (growing) shopping list after the little things sorted, will have to start thinking about making more power... and yes..its definately sold`=D
-
is it turbo? wonder if it handles like sh*t with the 2jz in there as for the iS turbo...wasnt quite 7k (a bit more and missing some vital parts) but still..sucks to be you guys love that..when something can happen nothing does, and when it cant, it gets talked about
-
im not a big fan...but i wanted a challenge, and an e30 with the challenge of handling power is more fun than the usual e30 challenge of making power!
-
yeah flew landcruisers in the desert....off dunes, bit of fun. will get some pics up when i can yeah, thought its time to change from black manual 325's, and i want a bit of a challenge. car will sit for a while whilst i accumulate funds to do what i want with it!

ban modified cars? but then people have nothing to bitch about! and if "boy racers" actually caused THAT many accidents you dont think they would just ban modded cars completely?
