qube 3570 Report post Posted July 7, 2013 Looks amazing! (I wonder if it would look better with the plate just below the grill on the actual body of the car?)
westy 614 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 Looks amazing! (I wonder if it would look better with the plate just below the grill on the actual body of the car?) Might look like a set of buck teeth? Dont really know where to put yet, maybe offset under bumper.
westy 614 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 Also, thinking about sticking a low blow turbo on it. Something to make around 350 fly-horses. Anyone with any great ideas re std equipment turbos that might fit the bill? Evo or similar? Cause cheep-cheep.
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 Looks tits!! I wish you had taken a plug off that front end, makes me envious every time I see it. Talk to crunchy, he'll have a turbo solution for you. Something like one of his HRC40's would go well on a high-comp 2.8l. You'll prob' want to run it on some E85 too to good measure. Just be wary, high HP turbo E30's are particularly anti-social I have found
westy 614 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 Was thinking of something along the lines of this. Visit My Website Utter turbo noob but we have too start somewhere... Also, would need to run on 95 yay.
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 You can buy smaller (and legal) plates from plates.co.nz now, they are the same width as the one you have on there now, but 100mm high. Think it would make all the difference on the front of this car
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted July 11, 2013 Was thinking of something along the lines of this. Visit My Website Utter turbo noob but we have too start somewhere... Also, would need to run on 95 yay. Something more like this. Cheap and quality. You would want the 0.82ar turbine hsg. TA3410

Steve K-B 51 Report post Posted August 18, 2013 Well done dude! How long did the cert process take from inspection to the delivery of the plate?

westy 614 Report post Posted August 18, 2013 Nice work!! So we'll see some vids of it 'cruising' soon.... Why no ride height notations on the cert' plate?? Heh. Noticed the height thing too, it's not what you'd call super low, no adjustment, maybe they ran out of room on the plate? Who knows. Well done dude! How long did the cert process take from inspection to the delivery of the plate? Two months. Had to get an emissions test and a car-o-liner report and do a design approval which added to the time. Cost about a grand all up. tits... time to start planning that coast to coast drive eh ?. I need to sort my fuel tank capacity out. Need a drop tank au. westy 614 Report post Posted September 20, 2013 Drove down to Hampton for the Icebreaker last weekend and while there we set it up on the scales. No driver and about 1/3 tank of gas. Around 20 ltrs.A bit more than I was expecting tbh. Also surprised at even weight split front to back.
hotwire 352 Report post Posted September 20, 2013 Saw the car there Tony, although not you. Looks bloody great in the flesh - a project very well done
westy 614 Report post Posted September 21, 2013 Thanks Grant. Had a few positive comments, so I guess I'm heading in the right direction.
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 Good to see the car again this weekend, Tony, it's one of my favourites. If you ever decide you've had enough of this project I'd seriously like to be considered as its new owner! I'd sell a kidney for it (I've got a spare). westy 614 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 Thanks! Would this be before or after the M5 Touring? I think we may have similar conditions, too many ideas not enough cars!
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Before not having enough cars I didn't have enough money! It's a condition known as 'living-beyond-your-means'. EDIT: If I buy your completed projects I save myself an awful lot of hard work and work I'm actually not capable of doing! northland 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Hey Westy can you post additional pics? I feel like we haven't gotten a real good look at the car yet.
northland 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Also have you considered going chromed or matte black bumpers? Might be interesting to see...if only someone could shoop that up Edit: Although these pics http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/23929-the-bastard-child/page-36 give an idea of what the chromed look would be Edited December 2, 2013 by northland
