Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 I've always wondered why specialists don't touch stuff. Maybe someone in the field would care to elaborate. I mean, sure there is a degree of risk, but if they can't do it, who will? It's like they dont want your money?
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 "They don't want to take responsibility for it", "not a stock configuration they don't know what they could be getting into" ? They want me to talk to the aftersales manager or whoever because he is the one that said no to the job, so I have to ring him later today and convince him. mark247 39 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 Just tell them it's a standard m50b25 and that they dont have to give a warrenty, or something simular.
*Glenn* 855 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 Why wont they touch it? Thats a commercial decission they have made, exposure to risk in doing the repair because of the conversion, and maybe the way it has been done. Also for the fact that someone else has already started pulling it pieces as well. I would probably say the same if someone wanted me to do it at this stage. I've been asked to do this type of thing before and said NO because of the exposure to risk factor.

Pretty standard really, you don't know what's been loosened, tightened, if you accepted a job like that you would have to go over every bit of the motor which would take a lot of time. And the fact that the motor is in unknown condition to start with. e30ftw 410 Report post Posted March 25, 2010 No I first asked and they said no to begin with. I haven't been able to talk with the guy I need to, to ask if they will do it how it is now. It's just a head on the block at this stage. I take responsibility for installing everything else.

They will probably still say no John... sorry to say, but I would too, coming from a business point of view.... doing it to help a friend would be different and wouldn't involve the business
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted March 25, 2010 Yes well we will see tomorrow.. Would not be the first time I have had half-done jobs finished / helped on where I have not had the tools / knowledge to do something and they have done it. I think the fact they have only a couple guys in their work shop now and it's really busy they don't want to take on such a big project. Hoping with the vast proportion of the job done they can chip a hand in and sus the head maybe.

Greg111 13 Report post Posted March 25, 2010 Pull the motor back out and you'll have it done in no time, or just take it somewhere else, euro specialist over the road from Jeff Grey.
