Forrest 35 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 ^ Techno is a lot darker than that though, almost black with a metallic purple flake. Looks nearly black in poor light then bright purple when light is pointed it at it. westy 614 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Seen this Nath?? Looks a bit rangi but should work pretty good. Maybe not start with 40 grit tho ha. And it's the sh*t they use to flavour Coke that cleans metals.
Forrest 35 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 ^ Cheers for that Tony. I am slightly apprehensive about sanding like that. I might try autosol with a scotch brite pad (used it on my Borb's previously with good results) and if that doesn't work it could be a option. Gee now I know why people pay to get this done, nearly 1 hour later I have 60 bolts off, 60 to go

bellicose 9 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) May be the odd one out here, but i don't think the techoviolet will be bright enough, it's a very dirty colour. As there will not be any direct light on the centres the colour will have a muddy black look to them. Just a thing to note, i wouldn't be putting that acrylic lacquer clear over that colour. If i see it correctly you had the colour made up in PPG Cobra. Cobra is a base coat that has to have a 2 pack clear over the top, not an acrylic lacquer. You WILL have de-lamination problems with it, ie: the clear will just peel off in a matter of months if not sooner with the harsh treatment rims get with the weather, grit and road grime. Forrest 35 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) ^ So what is the solution John? Take them to a paint shop to get cleared with 2k clear after doing the base coat etc? I'd rather do this right first time then have to redo it. Edited July 31, 2010 by Brams
