Brent showed me a car in his yard that had been hit very hard - those bars really earn their keep. Fingers crossed nothing other than pride was hurt. Just cars and was at low speed surprisingly. An old fella decided to reverse past a driveway as she was waiting to pull out of it onto the street. Not sure how he didn't see an whacking great X5 behind him but he was pretty shaken up. She took him back into the office for a cup of tea ! Kids sport takes care of our weekends. I'm out pretty much all weekend with my boys football. He trains 4/5 times a week and we've had one week off the last 18 months. If he has a day off I spend it re-acquainting myself with our two girls. The wife and I were in Napier last weekend (boy had a trip to New Plymouth). She insisted we take the X5 and not the 535is. The thought of Pahiatua one way and Saddle Road the other had me crying. In the end we were stuck behind cattle trucks anyway so I'm glad the old girl wasn't covered in the crap coming out of them. I thought there were rules about what they drop on the roads now. The stench was sickening. 18 hours ago, Gabe79 said: At times like this... It's sad divorce is so expensive. My wife is a barrister and specialises in family law. We have an agreement, if it should come to it, that I walk out with the clothes I'm wearing and the e34. She keeps everything else ! 14 hours ago, M3AN said: "It's okay sweetheart, we needed a new BMW anyway. I'll look for one this weekend, you just rest and recover from the fright." Just last week I told her we should trade up to an e70. She's not having any of it, she cant stand how often I change cars.
RedRocketTi 131 Report post Posted May 5, 2017 I can speak from experience, the side intrusion bars saved my life! I had an old lady hit me at 50kph after runnign straight through a give way sign!!! She then proceeded to ask what happened afterwards, after explaining she said ohhh thats what the white triangles on the road meant! This is my original Ti I had, I was 15 at the time and I had had it fully resprayed and had had it back from the paint shop for less than 24 hours!!!! Also have cert recheck on Monday afternoon so fingers crossed its all good to go now!!!!!

Gabe79 410 Report post Posted May 5, 2017 Finally got that oil filter housing removed today! Spent an hour cleaning oil and grime from around where it was and from it. That was all the time I had, so now it's all about putting it all back together before Monday morning!

kulgan 1042 Report post Posted May 5, 2017 (edited) 1 hour ago, Olaf said: which tyres did you get, Dave? lol, nothing flash Olaf. Just some good mid range tires. It's not going to be driven hard or put on a race track so I didn't see the need to spend LOT's.. I had some expensive Hankooks on there last time and have to say these mid range tire's are feeling just as good if not a little better. Gabe79 410 Report post Posted May 7, 2017 After many small issues, not the least of which was a shorn bolt on the housing... The longest oil filter housing gasket replacement in history if finished. In all, I managed to snap the ring connector on my alternator, shear one bolt and drop a reservoir full of power steering fluid on my driveway (and all over my engine bay!) Replaced power steering hoses, reservoir, and oil filter housing gasket and sensors. Only took 2ish weeks.
Olaf 3317 Report post Posted May 7, 2017 So it took a little longer, but oh so satisfying, right? Well done mate. Took me 6 months to address a cooling system issue with my Volvo whilst it sat on side of road when I lost my mojo. Cost more as the brake rotors rusted and battery died beyond reviving. Keep on keeping on!
