tawa 150 Report post Posted May 15, 2017 Couldn't see any rubber vent pipes, perhaps the issue is they've gone already? Stock wattage. Sorry, I meant I had already taken them apart and dried out to have it return, not that it was next on my current to-do list (which might be to add a heater or fan )
RedRocketTi 131 Report post Posted May 15, 2017 Cleaned and washed it again.... also got to polishing the lips up by sanding them back to remove the pitting, I have done 2 up to 1500 grit but will keep going up to 2500 and maybe higher to try and get a nice mirror finish. A good method was putting the rear end up on jack stands, starting the car and putting it in 3rd and letting it idle using the spinning wheel kinda like a lathe to take some of the effort out of the sanding! Also my daily got its respray! 2 weeks until I pick it up!

Kepes 231 Report post Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) Valves adjusted on the ol' M20 and new spark plugs. Old plugs looked very normal which is reassuring after 350,000km. (Edit: Plugs had only been in 30,000km of those) Also had Jon at Auto38 replace my gearbox fluid. All in preparation for this weekend's trip to Napier :~) Edited May 22, 2017 by Kepes

qube 3570 Report post Posted May 22, 2017 if you are up for a bit of DIY it costs about $100 for some nice black fabric, $20 on glue and a day in the garage to do the re-upholstering yourself. the hardest part is actually removing the headlining panel and getting it out of the car. once its out u just rip the fabric off, clean the panel, the apply glue to fabric and just press it on. cut around the edges and youre done. Pretty simple and a DIY job doesnt look any worse than a professional job. costs about 1/3 + your time.
zero 1162 Report post Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Just make sure you use the correct glue, and correct fabric for best results. I did the wifes car earlier this year and it came out great. TermiPeteNZ 1319 Report post Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) Ordered a new remote key for the E53 X5 from Winger in Welly. $471.50 all up. Current one faded recently and stopped doing the remote thing - and my backup is a basic key. Asked about a BMW Club discount - helpful young guy said they could offer 10% off - but not on coded items, on which they make just about nothing. Worth asking I suppose. Allanw 1072 Report post Posted June 13, 2017 Did you get a price from Milland? I got one for our E39 (diamond key) a few years back... and it was about $320 from memory??? - It was all coded, ready to go, direct from Germany. All I had to do was sync the remote (1 minute job, no tools required)
hqstu 780 Report post Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) I got one recently from CoombesJ BMW for e39 530, $371, and just had to synch it in. I believe also they can delete all previous/lost/misplaced keys from the car "systems" so it can't be started..? Need to get a second key for M5 now... clutch first...
