Very nice E36 318is for sale in Welly

Recommended Posts

Totally love Dakar Yellow! Seen this a few times on the Welly motorways and at first glance it looks like an E36 M3 Saloon lol.

This will be so cool as a 'run around'

If that’s what I think it is, it’s a special edition one as a tribute to the 318is touring car (from memory???). They also come in avus blue (a mate had one but wrote it off) amd Fiji green.

I do recall this being on sale from the dealer in NZ in the late 90's as a "Special" or "Limited" edition. The "exclusive" ///M colour and BMW Motorsport options were heavily emphasised. I think it was to close out the E36 era, I'm sure the E46 was in production by then.

A few "special edition" 328's might have been a nice option, not sure there were any.

Plenty, just higher spec 328i etc. 318iS is much rarer.

The yellow one would be a good base for a Benson & Hedges tribute race car... Hmmm..

In South Africa, the Dakar Yellow, the blue (not sure what exact colour blue, but there we call it the "Motorsport Blue" (see this link of the blue: http://photobucket.com/gallery/user/ryanherd/media/bWVkaWFJZDozNjExMjkw/?ref=), and also the Fiji green, are regularly seen on the roads there...and highly sought after.  :)

I originally was looking at buying this Fiji green last year, but ended up buying my E34.

While I am a fan of them, I don't understand why they are so close to 328 money when they are mediocre in comparison

I'd totally rock a Fiji one though

As Andy said they are much a much rarer car than a 328. From a cost point the M44 is less problematic and cheaper to run than M52's while being nicer to work on

Having owned plenty of 4 and 6 cyl e36s I can say none are hard to work on. But I've had far less issues with m50/2 engines with higher km

That and the m44 are lacking massively in power.

Would like to see the numbers on how many nz new 328 msport optioned cars were sold vs the iS

That being said I still want a proper 318iS, so logic is all out the window

I owned the Fiji green one above for about a year. It was awesome. I looked at a lot of e36s before I bought it, it was underpowered but the interior and options plus the fact it was manual made the decision easy.  I would own another over an auto 325/328 Motorsport any day

The blue one is amazing... tempted
